DIFFERENTIATION

𝒅𝒚
The derivative of a function 𝒚 = 𝒇(𝒙) is denoted: 𝒇 (𝒙), , 𝒚 , 𝒔𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆, or
𝒅𝒙
𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆. The process of finding the derivative is called differentiation.

. If 𝑓 ′ (𝑎) can be found 𝑓 is said to be differentiable at 𝑎, and 𝑓 ′ (𝑎) is called the derivative of 𝑓 at 𝑎. The
process of finding the derivative is called differentiation.
