Chapters: Understanding Operating Systems & Managing Files and Folders
📘 Chapter: Understanding Operating Systems
1. I will look for the application launcher or search bar in Linux. Though it looks different
from Windows, I can type the program name to find and open it.
2. I will check if the file is hidden or filtered. I can try sorting by date or checking file
extensions. I can also use the search feature to look again.
3. I can press the Windows key (or the Super key in Linux) to open the Start menu. I can use
the Tab, Arrow keys, and Enter to navigate.
4. It may be a temporary error or the desktop settings may have changed. I will try
restarting the system or logging out and back in. If needed, I’ll ask the teacher for help.
5. I will click the ‘X’ button at the top-right of the window I want to close, or press Alt + F4 to
close just that window without closing others.
📁 Chapter: Managing Files and Folders
6. I will rename each file with proper names like ‘Science_Homework’, ‘Math_Work’, etc.
This will make it easy to identify the correct one.
7. I will right-click the folder, select 'Rename', and type the new name. Then I will press
Enter to save it.
8. I will tell them to check which files are needed and delete only those they are sure are
unwanted. They should move files to the Recycle Bin first, not delete permanently.
9. I will ask them to check the Recycle Bin. If the folder is there, they can right-click and click
‘Restore’.
10. I will create new folders named 'Math', 'English', and 'Science'. Then I will move related
files into each folder to keep things neat and easy to find.
