Scale
1) Plane (Linear) Scale
Given: 49 cm² on map = 16 m² on ground.
Map length for 1 m on ground = √(49/160000) × 100 = 1.75 cm.
Scale length for 14 m = 14 × 1.75 = 24.5 cm (drawn).
Distance 8 m 9 dm = 8.9 × 1.75 = 15.575 cm (marked).
The scale is constructed by drawing a baseline, drawing an acute angle at zero, dividing the
inclined line into equal parts, and projecting divisions onto the baseline.

2) Diagonal Scale
Given: RF = 1/4000 ⇒ 1 cm on map = 40 m.
Choose main division = 100 m ⇒ 2.5 cm on map.
Draw 7 main divisions to measure 700 m. Draw 10×10 grid in first main division for metre accuracy.
Mark 447 m at 4 main divisions + 47/100 of next main division = 11.175 cm from zero.
