SPIRAL PUMPKIN
Use any yarn in your chosen yarn weight, same weight in two contrast colors,
referred to as D = dark and L = light.
Do NOT change colors, but switch them, as shown in pictures below.
EXAMPLE:
Switching from dark to light. Pull out your final loop of the dark color and keep it.
You can add a stitch marker in that final dark loop, when working the lighter color,
to avoid unraveling your work. Vice versa when working the dark color again.
Then grab your loop of the lighter color and continue to finish the round.
Switch back when you have crocheted into the last stitch of the previous color.

SOFT SCULPTING:
Start by sewing round 29 shut through FLO. Then insert the needle in the middle of that closed round and exit it at the
other side through your MR from round 1. Insert your needle one stitch next to your recent exit and go back to round
29. Pull tight and repeat 2-3 more times. This will create a dip in the middle of the pumpkins top and bottom.
TIP: Add pins as a guideline to make evenly separated and straight lines.
To shape the side of the pumpkin, identify your 6 points of increases, and run your needle through the unworked
loops in a straight line from top to bottom. Go in through the bottom of the pumpkin, in the dip we started to make
and exit through the second dip, pull tight – Congratulations! You have now made a peach!
Continue to work 5 more lines as above and then finish off.

ATTACHING
#1 MOUTH
Secure mouth with pins at the lower half of the pumpkin. The marked stitch should be at the bottom center of a
curve. Stretch out the corners and play around with placement.
Pin corners down and sew in place through the mouths BLO.
#1 EYES
12 mm buttons for fingering yarn. If you used a heavier yarn weight, adjust size accordingly.
Pin the eyes down at the center in between two curves. Leave a gap between the mouths upper lip and the eye.
Sew in place, using the black yarn ends from the mouth. Going from left mouth corner to right eye, pull tight to sink
the eye. Weave in ends through top and bottom dips. Then repeat mirrored, from right mouth corner to left eye.

#1 EYELIDS
Place the original chain of the eyelids around the buttons, starting and ending at the inner corner. Move around and
play with the placement for different expressions. Once you are happy with the placement, secure with needles and
sew in place through the remaining unworked loops of the original chain. Weave in ends, inside the head.
OPTIONAL: Add stitches in the middle between the eyes, for a nose.
#1 MOUTH STITCHES
Use the orange yarn ends from the mouth.
If you run out of yarn before you finish, then add a single thread of orange A yarn on a needle and secure by making a
double knot at the end. Insert the needle anywhere between stitches at the bottom or top dip and pull the knot inside
the pumpkin to secure.
Make long vertical stitches going through the unworked front loops from the upper and lower lip, plus in between to
make shorter teeth. The stitches I have made are completely random and crisscrossed.
You can replicate or freehand your own style.

#2 MOUTH
Secure mouth with pins at the lower half of the pumpkin, the middle of the mouth should be at the center of a curve.
The drips should be at the top. Stretch out the corners and play around with placement. Pin corners and drips down.
Start by sewing the edge in place, all the way around through FLO.
#2 EYES
12 mm buttons for fingering yarn. If you used a heavier yarn weight, adjust size accordingly.
Pin the eyes down at the center in between two curves. Leave a gap between the mouths upper lip and the eye.
Sew in place, using the black yarn ends from the mouth. Going from left mouth corner to right eye, pull tight to sink
the eye. Weave in ends through top and bottom dips. Then repeat mirrored, from right mouth corner to left eye.

#2 EYELIDS
Place the original chain of the eyelids around the buttons, starting and ending at the inner corner. Move around and
play with the placement for different expressions. Once you are happy with the placement, secure with needles and
sew in place through the remaining unworked loops of the original chain. Weave in ends, inside the head.
OPTIONAL: Add stitches in the middle between the eyes, for a nose.
#2 MOUTH STITCHES
Use the orange yarn ends from the mouth.
If you run out of yarn before you finish, then add a single thread of pumpkin colored yarn on a needle and secure by
making a double knot at the end. Insert the needle anywhere between stitches at the bottom or top dip and pull the
knot inside the pumpkin to secure.
Make long vertical stitches going through the unworked front loops from the upper and lower lip, plus in in the tip of
the drips. The stitches I have made are completely random and crisscrossed.
You can replicate or freehand your own style.

#3 FANGS
Use the orange yarn ends from the mouth.
If you run out of yarn before you finish, then add a single thread of pumpkin colored yarn on a needle and secure by
making a double knot at the end. Insert the needle anywhere between stitches at the bottom or top dip and pull the
knot inside the pumpkin to secure.
Locate where you want the tip of the fangs to go (I have used white pins)
Start by going through the unworked front loop at the upper part of the mouth, one stitch right of where you’ve
marked with pins. Grab one strand of black yarn and go back to the upper lip, one stitch left of the one you’ve just
worked into. Finish by making one slightly longer vertical stitch in between the V you’ve just made.
Repeat mirrored on the other side for the second fang. Weave in end.
