Terpel Organization Color Code Guide
Terpel Organization Color Code Guide
1. OBJECT
2. SCOPE
Understand from the definition of color for machines, equipment, ducts, pipes
and tanks, up to the signaling of areas and identification of elements with their
respective symbols and signs.
Color: It is the substance used to give a specific tint, which is adopted in this
case, as a symbol to indicate an element.
Flow senses: It is the symbol, in this case an arrow, that allows indicating the
direction of a fluid.
TERPEL logo: It is the emblem that identifies the image of the terminal.
distribution of petroleum derivatives. It was adopted in the year 1989,
redesigned in the year 1998 and lately in the year 2006.
Insulation: It is the outer covering or coating installed on the
pipelines, tanks, or equipment to prevent heat transfer or to protect against
personal against burns from direct contact.
Identification sectors: These are the areas where it should be made clear
elements that allow the recognition of the symbol, of the product and of the
direction of flow of a line, such as: the exterior of the dikes, the outlet of
the changes in direction, the entrance and exit of the viaducts, the sides of the
pedestrian bridges and stairs, the places where the pipe is buried and where
go out again, the platforms, etc.
Font ARIAL 12: It is the typeface adopted for all your printed materials.
It is the imperial system of measures in 125 countries, which represent 85% of the
population and world trade.
[Link] SYSTEM.
The Terpel Organization will use the RAL color system.([Link] for
identify the colors applied to the parts specified in the object of
This standard. The identification will be by the number and name of the RAL color.
All color palettes in the RAL system (RAL Classic, RAL) can be used.
Design and RAL Digital) but the RAL Classic system will be preferred in all cases.
5. IDENTIFICATION OF PIPES
[Link](S).
According to the product, the colors will be understood as applied to the pipes or lines in
general and the stripes in particular.
Aluminum color should be used for the exterior pipes of the plants.
Industrials (supplies from one plant to another, pipelines, gas pipelines, multi-pipelines,
etc.)
For pipes in process and/or storage areas, the color must be used.
white.
The differentiation will be obtained with the respective strip, which will be painted the color
specified.
The industrial service pipes (water, air, combustible gas, and vapors),
They will carry the color specified in numeral 5.5.
The insulated pipes will not require exterior painting along their entire length. They
they will be identified by the aluminum or stainless color of the protective sheet or
casing.

The signs, specifying the content, will be made in three (3) basic sizes.
like this:
a. For pipes with a diameter less than 0.051m (~2”), the signs will be
optional and proportional to the size of the tube.
b. For pipes with a diameter between 0.051 m (~2”) and 0.102 m (~4”), the size
the letters will be 0.025 m (~ 1") and will be located between two stripes with
width of 2", color according to product and distance between stripes of 10". The text
it will be centered between the stripes.
For pipes with a diameter greater than 0.102 m (~ 4") and above, the size
the letters will be 0.051 m (~ 2”) and will be located between two stripes with
width of 2", color as per product and distance between stripes of 10". The text
It will be centered between the stripes.

In long segments where two or more lanes are required; in the location of
one of them will put up a sign. Example: If the rack or tube measures 48 meters,
It will have 4 stripes (every 10 meters). The middle stripe is not used because it would be
replaced by a sign.
For the pipe that is buried or emerges from floors, we encase, enclose, or wall it;
It will be marked with a sign both at the entrance and at the exit of these steps.

It will be indicated by arrows that will be made with an isosceles triangle placed at
a distance of 2" with respect to one of the identification stripes as appropriate
the direction of the flow. The triangles will be painted in 'black' color.
For pipes with a diameter less than 0.051m (~2”), the triangles will be
optional and proportional to the size of the tube.
For pipes with diameters of 0.063 meters (~2.5") and 0.076 meters (~3"), the
triangles will have a base = 0.0508 meters (2") and a height = 0.0508 meters (2").
For pipes with a diameter of 0.102 meters (~4”), the triangles will have a base =
0.076 meters (~3") and height = 0.076 meters (~3")
For pipes with a diameter of 0.137 meters (~5") and above, the triangles
they will have a base = 0.102 m (4") and height = 0.102 m (4").

Strips.
Stripes will be painted perpendicular to the pipe in the specified color for
each of them. The strips will have a width of 2".
Strip will be painted on the straight sections of regular length, every 10 meters (30').
for those of great length, every 100 meters (300').
Changes of address.
In direction changes such as elbows of any angle, standard tees or
Reducers and the fish mouth joints will be painted individually according to
the stripe color for each product.
Exceptions:
For the JP A1, the color of valves, elbows, and fittings will be gray.
2. The elbows for B100 and OH will follow the defined pattern for their designation.

product in Spanish, its condensed chemical formula and specifications of
content.

The monitors and hydrants will be painted with phosphorescent or fluorescent paint.
If it were not possible to achieve fluorescent or phosphorescent paint,
they must be painted RAL 3000 matte color and marked with vinyl tape
reflective red color (RAL 3000) on the top and bottom of it. The width
the tape must not be less than 0.05 meters.

RAL 9005 on the first ring, starting from the floor, for protection in case of dripping or
escape in loading or unloading sites. The width of this strip will be thirty.
(30) centimeters measured from the tank floor.
No vertical black stripes will be painted on any tank.
[Link] color of the tanks may vary when, for safety reasons
national or landscaping, as required.
In these cases, it should be taken into account that for lightweight and medium products
the colors should be light and for heavy products the colors should be
dark.

[Link] IDENTIFICATION.
The identification of risks based on the type of product stored in each tank
will be governed by the NFPA 704 standard: 'Standard for the Identification of the Fire'
Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response - latest edition.
All tanks of the Terpel Organization will carry the security diamond.
What does the NFPA 704 standard stipulate on the cover of a manhole body and in the
body of the team. The diamond located in the body of the tank will have at the part
next to it, the name of the stored product.
The legend of the security diamonds located in the manhole and body of the
tanks must be completely legible and have reflective characteristics,
fluorescent or phosphorescent. Paints or vinyl stickers can be used.
to achieve the cited effect.
The security diamond that must be used for each product as well as the
the arrangement of the logo, number and registration of the tank data, will be as
shows in the file 'NFPA Safety Diamond and data in the [Link]'.
will use Arial font in black color RAL 9005 for the explanation of the conventions
used in the security diamond.
[Link] REGISTRATION.
Once the tank has been repaired and painted; at least the following will be recorded
following data about the body wall of the tank:
Product. Only the type is listed without additional titles. E.g., ACPM
For the data registration, black RAL 9005 Arial font will be used with the
following dimensions:
[Link] NUMBER
Located at the base and, if applicable, on the equipment. The identification number
it will be in Arial font, with the respective font, a dash and the number
corresponding, for example: D–1308
The dimensions for the identification number will be proportional to the
measurements of the base or equipment or accessory.

If it were the case, some teams may carry the TERPEL logo, with the
established shapes, proportions, and colors.
