Preventive maintenance involves actions to prevent faults before they occur, such as cleaning the computer, installing antivirus software, and updating the operating system. Its importance lies in reducing major repair costs, preventing data loss, improving performance, and extending the computer's lifespan . Corrective maintenance, on the other hand, is performed to repair problems after they occur, such as replacing faulty RAM or repairing a power supply. It is crucial for quickly resolving issues that can affect productivity and ensure continuous system operation .

Primary storage, such as RAM, is used for temporary data storage during processing, providing fast access speeds that enhance system performance. Secondary storage, like HDDs and SSDs, offers permanent data storage. While it's slower, it allows for large volumes of data retention. The amount of primary storage directly impacts multitasking capabilities, whereas secondary storage affects data availability and retrieval times .

Three common hardware problems are computers not starting due to a loose power cable or faulty PSU, which can be fixed by checking connections or replacing the PSU; overheating caused by dust accumulation, resolved through cleaning and ensuring good ventilation; and keyboard issues due to port damage, fixed by reconnecting or replacing the keyboard. Regular cleaning and using the proper tools like compressed air can prevent these issues .

The integration of embedded systems with IoT has transformed traditional appliances by embedding microprocessors that perform specific functions, which are then connected to the internet. This allows for real-time data exchange and remote control, turning ordinary devices into intelligent systems that can communicate, automate tasks, and optimize their operations based on received data, resulting in smarter, more efficient appliances .

Cloud computing reduces business costs by eliminating the need for extensive in-house IT infrastructure and using a pay-as-you-use model. Its key characteristics include scalability, allowing businesses to adjust resources based on demand, and on-demand access, which provides flexibility in services usage, enabling cost efficiency through operational agility .

Cloud computing and IoT integrate by enabling IoT devices to send data to the cloud, where it is stored and analyzed. This combination allows IoT devices to utilize cloud resources for data processing and remote access, enhancing scalability and accessibility. Users can control these devices globally, leveraging real-time data insights and cloud-based applications .

Regular cleaning and proper ventilation are important as they prevent dust accumulation, which can lead to overheating. Overheating can cause hardware failures such as malfunctioning hard drives and processors. Ensuring good airflow helps maintain optimal operating temperatures, thus reducing the risk of temperature-related damage to components .

The CPU comprises the Control Unit (CU), which directs operations; the Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU), which performs calculations and logic operations; registers for high-speed data storage; and the GPU for visual rendering. Together, they process and execute instructions, handle complex calculations, and manage data efficiently, forming the core of the computer's processing capabilities .

Sensors in smart devices detect environmental changes, like temperature or motion. They interact with actuators, which perform actions in response to the detected changes, such as adjusting temperature settings or turning on lights. This interaction is crucial for automation, enabling devices to respond dynamically to their environments and enhance user convenience and efficiency .

Impact printers use a mechanical process to print by striking an ink ribbon against paper, making them noisy and slower, with generally lower print quality. Non-impact printers, like inkjet and laser printers, print without mechanical contact with the paper, providing quiet operation, faster speeds, and high-quality output .
