-Today marked the beginning of our deployment— a two month practicum in Brgy.
Sampaguita. We were a mix of nervous energy and excitement, armed with clipboards,
health kits, and a shared mission to make a real difference in community health. Arriving
at the barangay hall, we are welcome by the barangay officials ( Sec. Jacky Andres and
Ma'am Teresita Bargado ) and barangay health council ( Ma'am Melinda Songco ).
September 09, 2025
- This morning, our team embarked on an ocular visit—a firsthand inspection—to
assess the barangay's situation and progress regarding health, and nutrition programs.
Accompanied by the Barangay Nutrition Committee, Barangay officials and Barangay
Police, we visited the different zone of Brgy Sampaguita.
September 10, 2025
-This morning Ma'am Mila, our dedicated program Department Chair visited us and
asked about our first day in community and gave us a few reminders and got some
documentation and left because of important matters. After that we respectfully asked
for permission from Ma'am Sharon, the barangay nutrition scholar of Brgy Sampaguita
to review the BNAP document. In the afternoon, we start to draft activities that are
aligned in the BNAP of barangay.
September 11, 2025
- On this day, we finalize our proposed activities for the month of September and
October that are aligned in the BNAP of Brgy Sampaguita. After finalizing our proposed
activities, we coordinate with the barangay officials of Brgy. Sampaguita respectfully
requests a meeting to present our proposed activities. Unfortunately Hon. Ruben
Gangan, the Barangay Captain of Sampaguita, attended an important event and we
decided to reschedule our meeting with him on the next day.
September 12, 2025
- This morning, the barangay conducted a meeting regarding the distribution of subsidy
for farmers and we had the opportunity to meet and greet the barangay captain of Brgy
Sampaguita and raise our request to conduct a meeting to present our proposed
activities for the month of September and October. After the discussion, our request
meeting is rescheduled next week for the reason that Hon. Gangan wants us to be
prepared so that our presentation turns out well. And also start to establish the nutrition
corner in the clinic.
September 15, 2025
-In this day, we started to do the concept paper of our first two activities for this month of
September. First is the activity related to our barangay nutrition committee to provide
them a foundational knowledge and practical skills in nutrition assessment, education,
and intervention strategies specifically designed for barangay-level implementation and
last is to conduct a Zumba session every Saturday aims to encourage the community to
reduce sedentary behavior and promote healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about the
benefits of being physically active for overall health and well-being. In addition, we also
prepare our presentation for tomorrow's meeting regarding our proposed activities for
the month of September and October.
September 16, 2025
- Today, we presented our proposed activities to the barangay officials of Brgy
Sampaguita headed by Hon. Ruben B. Gangan for the months of September and
October. As we presented our proposed activities we felt their support and they are
thankful that we have this kind of activity that helps their barangay especially in health
and nutrition. After the presentation, we took a short photo off.
September 17, 2025
- On this day, we finalize the concept paper of our first two activities and signed by Hon.
Ruben Gangan and started to prepare our presentation for LEVEL UP: BNC in Action to
empower the Barangay Nutrition Committee to serve as proactive advocates for
nutrition within their communities and prepare also a music video for Zumba session.
September 18, 2025
-This morning, we were assisting with the vaccinations and check-ups for babies and
pregnant women at the clinic. We volunteered to conduct the anthropometric
measurements for the babies and provide nutrition counseling for the pregnant women.
September 19, 2025
- On this day, we started the first session for our initial activity titled LEVEL UP: BNC in
Action. In this session, we discussed the types of malnutrition, proper assessment, and
the proper formulation of the Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP). In the afternoon,
we also started preparing another music video for our first Zumba session.
September 22
-On this day, we started creating the pubmats for our activity, 'WEIGH to go:
Understanding Weight Management.
September 23
-This morning, it was the regular schedule for the vaccinations and check-ups for
babies and pregnant women at the clinic. We volunteered once more to conduct the
anthropometric measurements for the babies and provide nutrition counseling for the
pregnant women.
September 24
-This morning, we started developing our concept paper for our activity to
commemorate Obesity Awareness Month. Our target audience for this activity is the
school-aged children in Grades 5 and 6 at Damortis Elementary School.
September 25
-This morning, it was the regular schedule again for the vaccinations and check-ups for
babies and pregnant women at the clinic. We volunteered once more to conduct the
anthropometric measurements for the babies and provide nutrition counseling for the
pregnant women.
September 26
-After we finalized our concept paper for the activity, titled "WEIGH to go: Understanding
Weight Management," we went to the barangay office for the sign-off and approval from
Hon. Ruben Gangan. We then coordinated with the school principal of Damortis
Elementary School, Joseph Peralta. In the afternoon, we also started preparing another
music video for our next Zumba session.

- Today, we started preparing our necessary materials like flyers, a projector, and a
sound system. We also prepared our presentation and created a simple icebreaker to
make our discussion engaging.
September 30, 2025
- On this day, we conducted a symposium titled "WEIGH to go: Understanding Weight
Management" at Damortis Elementary School to commemorate Obesity Awareness
Month. In this symposium, we discussed the forms, causes, and consequences of
malnutrition. We also discussed Pinggang Pinoy, the principles of MOVABA, and
provided healthy tips for health and well-being.
October 01, 2025
- On this day, we started to develop our concept paper for our next symposium, which
highlights the importance of the First 1000 Days of Life. The main objective is to equip
mothers with knowledge about the benefits of nutrition in the first 1000 days of life, as
well as with practical skills to make informed decisions on maternal and infant care.
After we finalized our concept paper, we went to the barangay office for the signature of
approval from Hon. Ruben Gangan.
October 02, 2025
- This morning, there was a scheduled vaccination and check-up for babies and
pregnant women at a clinic. We volunteered again to conduct anthropometric
measurements for the babies and nutrition counseling for the pregnant women.
October 3, 2025
- Our symposium titled "Foundation for a Lifetime: The First 1000 Days of Life" was
supposed to be held today, but due to Severe Tropical Storm Paolo, we decided to
postpone the activity and reschedule it. So, we instead started preparing our necessary
materials like flyers, a projector, and a sound system. We also prepared our
presentation and created a simple icebreaker to make our discussion engaging.
October 06, 2025
- We were scheduled to conduct the symposium on the First 1000 Days today. Although
it was meant to be successful, we were disappointed because only a few people
attended. We decided to continue the day by conducting nutrition counseling instead of
the symposium and rescheduled the main event for Wednesday, as suggested by the
barangay officials. In the afternoon, we started developing our concept paper for the
rescheduled symposium, which highlights the importance of the First 1000 Days of life.
The main objectives are to equip mothers with knowledge about the benefits of nutrition
during this period and with practical skills for informed decision-making on maternal and
infant care. After finalizing the concept paper, we went to the barangay office for the
sign-off and approval from Hon. Ruben Gangan.

pregnant women at the clinic. We volunteered again to conduct anthropometric
measurements for the babies and provide nutrition counseling for the pregnant women.

-We conducted the symposium on the First 1000 Days today, and while it was intended
to be a successful one, we were disappointed because only a few people attended. We
decided to continue the activity by conducting nutrition counseling instead of the
symposiumIn the afternoon, we went to Zone 7 (Purok Damortis) with the barangay
officials, specifically Sec. Jacky Andres, SK Chairperson Michael Angelo Salagan, and
SBM Ma. Visitacion Miguel, to go house-to-house. We distributed flyers for an upcoming
activity to commemorate the Filipino Elderly Week celebration, which is scheduled for
Friday.

-This morning was again the regular schedule for vaccinations and check-ups for babies
and pregnant women at the clinic. We volunteered once more to conduct the
anthropometric measurements for the babies and provide nutrition counseling for the
pregnant women. In the afternoon, we continued house-to-house in the zones we
hadn't covered yet, accompanied by the same barangay officials: Sec. Jacky Andres,
and SK Chairperson Michael Angelo Salagan. We distributed flyers for the Filipino
Elderly Week activity scheduled for Friday.
October 10 , 2025
-On this day, we conducted a symposium titled "AGE-n’t Great? Wellness beyond
Years" at the Brgy. Sampaguita gymnasium to commemorate the celebration of Filipino
Elderly Week. Our guest speaker, Sir Edzel Arcinue, delivered a meaningful message
and imparted knowledge, particularly on how to reduce the incidence of hypertension,
diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis. He also reminded us of the importance of
cherishing and supporting our elders, who offer a wealth of knowledge and experience
from living through decades of history. This activity showcased the power of collective
action in recognizing and addressing the needs of senior citizens.
October 13, 2025
On this day, we started our nutrition education at Sampaguita National High School. We
went to the principal's office to ask for permission from the School Head of Sampaguita
National High School. We began teaching Grade 7 students in the morning and Grade 8
students in the afternoon. The topics we covered were food safety, proper hygiene, and
how to read a food label.
October 14, 2025
On this day, we continued our nutrition education. Next, we taught the Grade 9 and
Grade 10 students about food safety, proper hygiene, and how to read food labels. It
was a great experience to teach in front of others, especially when we saw them
listening and participating.
October 15, 2025
On this day, we continued our nutrition education. Next, we taught the Grade 9 and
Grade 10 students about fad diets, a topic relevant to them due to their curiosity about
food. We discussed how we could help them avoid engaging in these fad diets. It was a
great experience to teach in front of others, especially when we saw them listening and
participating. It was also rewarding to impart knowledge to them at their early age. We
also started to establish our concept paper and approval letters for our Fun Run. After
finalizing the concept paper, we went to the Barangay Office and the Municipal Hall to
secure the signatures of approval from Hon. Ruben Gangan and Hon. Meynard Carag.
We also coordinated with the BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection), PNP (Philippine National
Police), and MHO (Municipal Health Office).
October 16, 2025
On this day, we continued our nutrition education. Next, we taught the Senior High
School students about fad diets, a topic relevant to them due to their curiosity about
food. We discussed how we could help them avoid engaging in these fad diets. It was a
great experience to teach in front of others, especially when we saw them listening and
participating. It was also rewarding to impart knowledge to them at their early age.
October 17, 2025
On this day, we continued our nutrition education. Next, we taught the Senior High
School students about sports nutrition, specifically hydration, a topic especially relevant
to student athletes.
October 20, 2025
On this day, we started to establish our concept paper for our Nutrition Safari, which will
be conducted at Solana West Central School and Damortis Elementary School. After
finalizing the concept paper, we went to the Barangay Office for the signature of
approval from Hon. Ruben Gangan. Two of our groupmates went to Solana West
Central School and Damortis Elementary School for their approval to conduct the
activity.
October 22, 2025
Today, we will start preparing our presentation and create a simple icebreaker to make
our discussion engaging.
October 23, 2025
On this day, we conducted a Nutrition Safari titled "Excellent Habits Start Young!" at
Damortis Elementary School and Solana West Central School. For this activity, we
provided nutrition education for school-aged children, focusing on the fundamentals of
Go, Glow, and Grow foods and proper hygiene. Our group was divided into two to teach
the children. The purpose of the activity was to enable children to identify and sort food
categories, helping them understand that different foods have different jobs in the body,
to encourage children to view healthy foods as enjoyable and beneficial, and to teach
the importance of proper oral hygiene and handwashing.
October 24, 2025
On this day, we started to prepare the materials we needed, such as banners, T-shirts,
a sound system, and snacks for the participants. We also prepared our Zumba steps to
make our fun run engaging and enjoyable.
October 27, 2025
-We started packing our belongings and the barangay officials of sampaguita invite us
because they prepared a send-off party for us ,their way of showing gratitude for the
contributions we had made to the barangay, specifically citing our efforts in health and
nutrition.
October 28, 2025
-On this day, we started cleaning the clinic —sweeping and mopping the
floors—because Our Lady of Piat (Ang Poon Ng Our Lady of Piat) was scheduled to
stay in the chapel of Barangay Sampaguita. Additionally, there would be a small
gathering or social meal (kaunting salu-salo) held here, which is why we cleaned and
prepared the area. In the afternoon, we participated in the communal prayer service.
October 29, 2025
-On this day, we continued cleaning the clinic—sweeping and mopping the floors, and
organizing the rooms—before we left Barangay Sampaguita.
We did this because we have also come to consider the Barangay Sampaguita Clinic as
our second home.
