WHAT ARE VISION DEFECTS
Vision defects are problems in seeing clearly
Caused by incorrect shape of eyes or lens
Common in children and older people
Can be corrected using lenses or surgery
TYPES OF VISION DEFECTS
Myopia - Can't see far objects clearly
Hypermetropia - Can't see near objects clearly
Astigmatism - Blurred or distorted vision
Presbyopia - Difficulty seeing nearby objects with
age
MYOPIA- NEARSIGHTEDNESS
Far objects looks blurry
Causes: eye is too long or lens too curved
Image forms in front of the retina
Correction: Concave lens
HYPERMETROPIA
Near objects apply blurry
Caused by a shorter eye ball
CORRECTION: Convex lens
ASTIGMATISM
Blurred or disorted vision at all distances
Caused by irregular curvature of the cornea
CORRECTION: Cylindrical lenses , laser
surgery
