6. Riya can complete a job in 6 days, and Sia can complete the same job
in 3 days. They work on alternate days, starting with Riya. In how
many days will the job be completed?

Remainig work can be done in another one cycle

2 cycles of 2 days = 4 days

So, the job will be completed in 4 days .

7. Rohan, Sameer, and Tarun can complete a job in 12, 18, and 6 days
respectively. If they work on alternate days, who should work on the
first day to finish the work faster?
a) Tarun
b) Rohan
c) Sameer
d) Cannot be determined

Ans: (a)

A can do a piece of work in 10 days and B can do it in 15 days. If

they work on alternate days, starting with A, in how many days will
the work be completed?

A's 1-day work = 1/10

B's 1-day work = 1/15

2-day work:

1/10 +1/15

LCM = 30

3/30 + 2/30

= 5/30

= 1/6

So every 2 days they complete 1/6 of the work.

To finish the whole work:

6 cycles×2 days=12 days

Answer: 12 days

8. Amit completes 3/4 of a job in 18 days. If the total work is increased

by 33⅓% (i.e., 1/3 more), how many more days will Amit need to finish
the remaining work?
a) 6 days
b) 9 days
c) 14 days
d) 18 days

Ans: (c)

Total work increased 1/3

Therefore, Amit needs 14 more days to finish the job

9. P can do 1/3 of a work in 12 days, Q can do 1/4 of the work in 8 days, R

can do 50% of the work in 20 days. Who will complete the full work

11. P and Q together can do a job five times as fast as R alone, and P
alone works twice as fast as Q. If P, Q, and R work together, in what

8 dogs can catch 8 rabbits in 8 minutes

This means 1 dog catches 1 rabbit in 8 minutes

So, 12 dog catches 12 rabbits in 8 minutes

Ans: (c)

14. A hostel had food sufficient for 900 students for 30 days. After 10
days, 300 more students joined the hostel. For how many more days
will the remaining food last?
a) 10 days
b) 12 days
c) 15 days
d) 18 days

Ans: (c)

Initial food availability = 900 × 30 = 27000 students days of food

Food consumed in first 10 days = 900×10 = 9000 student days of

food

Remaining food = 27000 - 9000 = 18,000 student days of food

After 10 days 300 more students joined

So , Total students = 900 + 300 = 1200

18000
Days remaining food lasts = =15 𝑑𝑎𝑦𝑠
1200

15. P can do a piece of work in 6 hours; Q and R together can do it in

4 hours, while P and R together can do it in 3 hours. How long will Q

16. M is twice as efficient as N. If they both together can complete a

job in 6 days, how long will it take for M alone to complete the job?
a) 6 days
b) 9 days
c) 12 days
d) 15 days

Ans: (b)

Let N’s 1 day work = x

Then, M’s 1 day work = 2x

N+M ‘s 1 day work = x + 2x = 3x

The completed in the work in 6 days

So, 3x =

M’s work rate = 2x = 2 × =

17. A worker is paid Rs. 6 per hour for normal duty and Rs. 9 per
hour for extra duty. He works 7 hours a day for 5 days a week. In 4
weeks, he earned Rs. 930. Assuming he attended all normal working
days, find the total number of hours he worked.
a) 145 hours
b) 150 hours
c) 160 hours
d) 175 hours

Ans: (b)

Normal working hours in 4 weeks = 7 ×5 × 4 = 140 hours

Earning for normal working hours = 140 × 6 = Rs.840

Extra earning = 930 – 840 = Rs.90

So, extra hours worked = 90/9 = 10 hours

Total working hours = 140 + 10 = 150 hours
