ACT 1 - TEMPTATION
SCENE 1-THE SCHOOL BLOCK
(Students come together at the garden after classes ,laughter
fill the air.)
LUCY: Do you guys know that the final exam papers are already
printed ? Luckily my cousin knows a guy who can get us a
copy.
JAMES:(Laughing sheepishly while touching his beards) Like...
before the exams ? LUCY: Yeah , just a few notes to "revise"
MAYA: Cheating , after we have worked hard all term Lucy ?
LUCY:(POINTING HER FINGER TOWARDS MAYA ) Nkt..... You are
foolish thats why you work smart instead of working hard .
JAMES:(SHRUGS) I do not know about this, i could use some
help though .....
MAYA: James i can not even imagine you are thinking about
it .
([Link] approaches , on overhearing part of the
conversation.)
MR. KARIUKI: My dear beloved studenst , choices have
consequences . Always think before you act . (He
walks away .The students goes silent ) LUCY:(ROLES
UP HR EYES ) Nkt... So are in or not?

MAYA:I'm not , oooh ,over my dead body , i'll pass on my own
(Lucy walks away annoyed . Maya looks worried as james stays
silent.)

ACT 2 -THE CONCEQUENCE
scene 1-Maya's Home, Evening (Maya is
studying. Her mother enters. )
MOTHER: You have been studying for hours, Maya my child,
please take a break. MAYA: I can't, Mum. The exams start
tomorrow.
MOTHER:(WORRIEDLY) May God bless the work of your hands .
(A knock, James enters looking dissapointed and angry)
JAMES: Maya, i think i messed up big time.
MAYA: I knew by the look of your face the moment you entered.
Did I not tell you that propaganda you were planning would go
sideways? How could you disappoint me by engaging in false
activities as such after we have studied hard all term.
JAMES: Lucy gave me the papers, i did not bother to look at
them at the moment -but the principal found out. They
definitely know am involved.
MOTHER:(WORRIED) What action are you going to undertake at
the moment?
MAYA:(rolling up her eyes) Tell the truth it is the only way,
and remember the truth sets you free. JAMES: They
administration will give me a suspension.
MAYA: A dishonest success is far worse than an honest
suspension James .
(James nods worried .He leaves to face the principal , Maya
sits with her hand on the chin )
Scene 2 - The Next Day at School

(Mr . Kariuki stands before the class .James looks ashamed )

However as you all know choices have consequences . James
will be missing this terms examinations .

(whispers spread through the class . Maya looks worried and
sad but proud at her friend's honesty)
Lucy: (angrily) This is your fault, Maya .If you had not said
anything .
Maya :(Calmly) You made your choice . It is not my fault ,
Lucy , it was all about choices .
ACT 3 - THE LESSON
Scene 1- One week later , the school hall ([Link]
adrress the student following the incident. )
[Link]:Honesty brings true integrity .
(students clap softly . Maya blushes .)
James: Thanks for helping me do the right thing and for
always being there for me Maya . Maya: I will always
look out for you James .
Mother: (entering with her husband ) We are so proud of
ourselves for raising an honest God-fearing child .
Father: Truly you were aware that character is valuable than
marks . (Maya smiles. Tears in her eyes)
Maya: I did what was right , that is the real success
according to the guidance and counselling teacher .
(Lights Fade as everyone applauses .Curtain closes .)
