Case Study Format

I. Introduction
I.1. Background of the company
I.2. Case Facts (Areas of Consideration and Viewpoint)
I.3. Review of Related Literature
I.4. Objective of the Study
I.5. Statement of the Problem - determine the problem of the case and come up with
the statement of the problem based on the case. You can use your own words. You
can use root cause analysis tools like Fish Bone Diagram or Why-Why Analysis to
determine the problem

II. Alternative Courses of Actions - these are the options or choices that are
considered solutions to the problem/s. They could lead in solving of the problem/s.
There should be 3 or more ACAs.

III. Analysis of ACAs - you could do cost-benefit analysis (optional) or you can
determine their advantages and disadvantages in analyzing each ACA. Another
method is to use decision criteria and assign weights for each criterion.

IV. Recommendation/s - After weighing all you ACAs, the ACA which is the most
advantageous in solving the problem/s will be your recommendation. There could
be more than two ACAs as recommendations. Explain why you are recommending
this/these ACA/s.

V. Plan of Actions (Milestones) - This is how you will implement your recommendation
– your plan of action. You can do assumptions here, that if you are the decision
maker.
V.1. Targets – goal, objective (you can also state performance indicators here in
terms of percentage (example - percentage increase in profits, percentage increase
in productivity)
V.2. Program, project, activities
V.3. Time frame – time period that you will implement your plan of action. You can
assume.
V.4. Manpower requirements
V.5. Progress accomplishment – how will you monitor and control the situation
VI. Fallback Position (Contingency Plans) - Fallback Position (what if) – what if your
recommendation will not work out, what will be your other options, what will you do
to redeem the situation? What will be your contingency plans?

VII. References - Write any supporting documents that you have used to answer this
case. They could be URLs, ebooks, books, articles, newspaper or magazines, etc.
