Weekly Journal Reflection

 Date: February 10-14


 Tasks Completed:
This week, I continued my routine of arriving 15 minutes before class to set
up and ensure everything was ready for the day. The focus of this week was
on remedial sessions, where I provided various activities to help my Grade 7
and 8 students catch up on lessons they struggled with. Through this
experience, I realized that as teachers, we are the primary supporters of
students who need extra help, ensuring that no one gets left behind
academically.
 Skills Applied:
I applied several essential skills, including lesson planning, adaptability, and
student support strategies. Patience and empathy played a crucial role in
motivating students to engage with the remedial activities. Effective
communication was also necessary to explain concepts in a way that
students could easily grasp.
 New Skills Learned:
A new development this week was the arrival of student teachers from
Mindoro State University. As a result, I transferred my Grade 8 Science class
to one of them and was reassigned to handle ESP for Grade 10-SSC, which
will begin next Monday. This shift presents an opportunity to explore a new
subject area and apply different teaching approaches.
 Challenges Encountered:
One of the challenges I faced was ensuring that all students took remedial
activities seriously. Some were disengaged or hesitant to participate, making
it difficult to provide effective differentiated instruction. To address this, I
tried incorporating interactive elements and giving positive reinforcement to
encourage their involvement.
 Reflection on Personal Growth:
This week further reinforced my understanding of the critical role teachers
play in shaping students' learning experiences. It also highlighted the
importance of flexibility in handling changes, such as transitioning to a
different subject. These experiences continue to refine my teaching approach
and deepen my commitment to education.
 Next Steps/Goals for Improvement:
Looking ahead, I plan to enhance my teaching strategies, study the
ClassPoint application to introduce a new method in my lessons, and explore
additional teaching techniques. My goal is to make learning more engaging
and effective for my students while continuously improving my instructional
methods.
