________________
Interview Chair:
Thank you. We’ll review your documents as we go through the interview.
Before we begin with the questions, could you please introduce yourself briefly?
Participant:
“Good morning. I’m Regine Alexandra M. Jordan, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English from
Mindoro State University. As a fresh graduate, I’m eager to begin my teaching journey and apply the knowledge and skills I’ve
gained during my training. I’m passionate about helping students express themselves confidently through the English
language and creating a positive learning environment.”
Interview Chair:
Thank you for that introduction. Let’s begin with the first question.
What inspired you to pursue a career in teaching, particularly as an English teacher?
Participant:
I was inspired to teach because I’ve always believed that education has the power to transform lives. English, in particular,
drew me in because it connects people through stories, culture, and communication.
Looking back, when I was in high school, I really admired my English teacher. At that time, I actually found the subject quite
difficult, but her passion and fluency motivated me to learn and improve. That experience inspired me to pursue this career—
to help my future students become more aware of grammar and to build their confidence in speaking English.
During my student years, I also had teachers who helped me see the beauty of language and how it can empower individuals.
I want to do the same—to inspire my students to find their voice and confidence through English.”
Interview Chair:
That’s wonderful to hear. Let’s move on. I’ll now turn the next set of questions over to our Pedagogy Specialist.
Pedagogy Specialist:
Thank you.
1. How do you make literature engaging for students who find reading difficult or boring?
Participant:
“I make literature engaging by connecting it to students’ real-life experiences and interests. Before discussing a story, I usually
start with a short video, a song, or a situation that reflects its theme to capture their attention. I also include creative
activities like role-plays, debates, or modern retellings—for example, letting students rewrite or perform a classic story like
Romeo and Juliet in a modern setting, such as a high school or social media context. This helps them relate more easily to the
characters and themes while keeping the lesson fun and meaningful. In this way, students see literature not just as text, but
as something that reflects their own lives and emotions
Pedagogy Specialist:
2. How do you assess your students’ understanding beyond written exams?
Participant:
“I use performance-based assessments such as group presentations, creative writing tasks, or reflection journals because they
allow students to demonstrate their understanding in practical and creative ways. For example, presentations show how well
they can communicate ideas, while creative writing reveals how they interpret themes or concepts. I also conduct peer
assessments and oral recitations to evaluate not just content knowledge, but also their confidence, communication, and
critical-thinking skills.”
Pedagogy Specialist:
3. How would you handle a class with students who have different learning paces?
Participant:
“I would handle a class with different learning paces by using differentiated instruction. I design activities with varying levels
of difficulty so that each student can learn at their own pace. For those who need more support, I provide additional guidance,
simplified materials, or small-group discussions. For faster learners, I prepare enrichment activities that challenge them
further. As a teacher my goal is to make sure everyone feels included and progresses without feeling pressured or left behind.”
Pedagogy Specialist:
4. How do you manage disruptive behavior in class?
Participant:
“I handle disruptive behavior calmly and consistently. I first identify the root cause—whether it’s boredom, misunderstanding,
or personal issues. I address it privately, not publicly, and remind the student of class expectations. I also make sure to build
positive relationships early so that students respect boundaries and feel comfortable communicating.”
Pedagogy Specialist:
5. In your view, what is the most important quality of an effective English teacher?
Participant:
For me, the most important quality is empathy. An effective English teacher understands that students learn differently and
come from diverse backgrounds. Empathy helps us connect, inspire, and create lessons that not only teach grammar and
literature but also values and [Link] this way, we can create a positive and supportive learning environment where
students feel understood and motivated to learn.”
Interview Chair:
Thank you for your thoughtful answers. Let’s now proceed to our Technical Specialist.
Technical Specialist:
Thank you.
1. How do you plan to integrate technology into your English lessons?
Participant:
“I plan to integrate technology through interactive presentations, online collaborative tools like Google Docs for writing
activities, and platforms like Kahoot or Quizizz for review sessions. I also encourage digital storytelling and multimedia
projects to make lessons more dynamic and relevant to 21st-century learners.”
Technical Specialist:
2. How would you assist students who have limited access to digital tools at home?
Participant:
“I would ensure that all assignments can also be completed offline and provide printed materials when necessary. During
class, I’d allot time for students to use school resources like the computer lab. I also encourage peer collaboration so that
students can support one another in completing digital tasks.”
Technical Specialist:
3. How would you handle a disagreement with a colleague over teaching methods or curriculum content?
Participant:
“I would handle it professionally by listening first and understanding their perspective. Then, I’d present my own views
respectfully and find a compromise that serves the best interest of the students. Collaboration and open communication are
essential in maintaining a positive work environment.”
Technical Specialist:
4. How do you keep yourself updated with new teaching trends and technologies?
Participant:
“I regularly attend webinars, teacher training sessions, and education workshops. I also follow reputable education websites
and online communities where teachers share innovative practices. Continuous learning allows me to bring fresh ideas into
the classroom.”
Technical Specialist
5. What would you do if the technology you planned to use suddenly fails during class?
Participant:
“I always prepare a backup plan. If the technology fails, I switch to a manual or discussion-based approach to keep the lesson
going. Flexibility is key—students appreciate it when teachers stay calm and adaptable in unexpected situations.”
Interview Chair:
Excellent. Thank you for that.
Now, I’d like to invite our HR Assistant to ask the next question.
HR Assistant:
Thank you.
If you’re hired, what would be your top priority in your first month of teaching?
Participant:
“My top priority would be to get to know my students—their learning styles, interests, and strengths. Building rapport early
helps create a positive classroom environment. Once that foundation is set, effective teaching and learning naturally follow.”
Interview Chair:
Thank you. Before we end, I’ll ask the final question.
Why should Starlight Academy choose you for this teaching position?

“Starlight Academy should choose me because I’m deeply committed to fostering both academic excellence and character
development. I bring creativity, adaptability, and a passion for teaching English that motivates students to learn beyond the
classroom. I believe my values align with the school’s mission of nurturing lifelong learners and responsible individuals. I’m
