Introduction
Nowadays, electric circuits are an essential part of life.
everyday, we find them in television, cars, radio, DVDs, among
Many other everyday devices. An electrical circuit is defined as the set of
electrical elements connected to each other that allow for generating, transporting and
to use electrical energy with the purpose of transforming it into another type of energy
such as heat energy (stove), light energy (light bulb) or
mechanical energy (motor). The elements used to achieve this are the
following: generator, conductor, resistors, and switch.
Each circuit has particular characteristics. Electric circuits can
to be connected in series or in parallel and in a mixed way, which is a
combination of these last two. A series circuit is a connection in
where the electric current has only one path to flow, and if this is
interrupts the current cannot flow. A parallel circuit is one where
the electric current has two or more paths to flow, and if one of them
it will not affect the functioning of the others.

Definition of simple circuit
An electrical circuit is a closed path of electrical energy in which it is
taken from the elements that produce it to the elements that
they consume or transform into other forms of energy, with the most common being
but not the only ones: luminous, mechanical, thermal, and chemical.
In an electrical circuit, five types of elements can be differentiated:
generators, conductors, receivers, control devices, and protection devices. For what

first three elements described. In this case, the formed circuit is of type
simple, since:
A simple electrical circuit is one that has only one receiving element.
It consists of a voltage source, a resistor or load, and a physical ground. It can
There are two basic ways (although there are more) which are in parallel and in series.
The series is when the elements are connected one after another having a
one direction for the current. and parallel is when the current reaches a point
where the 'road' divides.
Elements that make up the simple electric circuit
Generator: It is the element that produces and maintains a potential difference.
electric within the circuit and its magnitude is expressed in volts. Depending on the type of
used source, direct current (DC) or alternating current can be supplied
(AC) to the circuit, and three types of generators can be distinguished.

Conductor:Es el elemento que permite la circulación de la corriente a través de
the other components of the circuit. It is usually made of conductive materials
like copper aluminum. The main conductive media are wiring
electric, the prototype boards (protoboard) or the printed circuit boards. The
intensity of the current flow that moves through the circuit thanks to its
conductors are expressed in Amperes.
Receptor: Element that receives electrical energy from the circuit and transforms it into
the desired final form or produces some effect. That is why a bulb
a light produces light, a radiator produces heat, an engine moves, or a speaker
reproduce a sound with greater intensity, to mention a few examples.
Any receiver installed in a circuit opposes resistance to the flow of the
current.
Operation of a simple electrical circuit
The operation of an electric circuit is always the same whether it is simple
the complex. The voltage, tension, or potential difference supplied by the source of

flow of electron current as it travels through the circuit, so will its intensity in

Once the flow of electrons manages to overcome the resistance it presents to its

will keep circulating through the circuit until the switch is activated that
allows you to stop it.

Definition of basic circuits
An electrical circuit is a group of electrical elements connected to each other by
electrical cables that form a pathway for the flow of electric current.
The electrical circuit is composed of different components that ensure the
flow of electrons from one pole to the other. When the circuit is closed it allows
the flow of electrons and when it opens it cuts off the flow preventing the passage of
electrons. Electrons are present in all types of electrical installations.
and are used for lighting and to make any device work that
we can connect to the power grid.

Electric current generator (cell or battery): Energy source that
generate a voltage between its terminals causing the electrons to
move through the circuit.
Conductors: (cables or wire): They carry the current to others
circuit components through these wires. The wires are
formed by one or more wires made of a conductive material.
Switch: Control device that allows or prevents the passage of the
electric current through a circuit, if it is closed and that, when
it doesn’t do it, it’s open.
Receivers: They are responsible for receiving and transforming energy.
electricity into another type of energy.
A receptor is characterized by its ohmic resistance. It consumes electrical energy.
supplied by the voltage source, and transforms it into another form of energy,
producing a useful effect such as light, heat, etc.
An example of a receiver is light bulbs, which transform electrical energy.
in radiant energy. Another example is an electric motor, which transforms energy
electricity into kinetic energy.
Electrical resistance is defined as the greater or lesser opposition that is presented.
the bodies to the passage of the electric current. That is, the difficulty that poses a
conductor to the flow of electric current. It is represented by "R" and its unit is the
Ohm (Ω). The elements of a circuit are combined in different ways.
These must form a closed path for the electric current to flow.
circular.
Operation of a basic electrical circuit
This term refers to the closed path that an electric current follows. This
the route begins at one of the terminals of a stack, passes through a
electric conductor (copper wire), reaches a resistor (light bulb), which consumes
part of the electrical energy; continues through the conduit, reaches a
switch and return to the other terminal of the battery.
