FORMAL INVITATIONS
• Name of hosts
• Name of invitee (when only 1 invitee like the Chief Guest)
• Formal phrase of invitation, for example:
Request the pleasure of your benign presence/company ; Seek your auspicious presence;
Solicit your gracious presence on the auspicious occasion
• Date, time and venue of event
• Occasion/ reason of invitation
• In case a VIP is invited as chief guest, name of VIP must appear prominently
• Written in third person
• Written in simple present tense
• No need for date of writing
• No need for signature of host
• The abbreviation RSVP (French: respondez silvers plait) i.e. ‘Please reply’ is written below
