1. Explain the availability and importance of global and Indian water resources, and the principles of
resource system planning.

2. Identify major water use sectors (domestic, industrial, agricultural) and assess their impact on
water demand and management.

3. Analyze the challenges of water distribution in India, including water-deficit and water-surplus
basins, inter-basin water transfers, and interlinking of rivers.

4. Discuss the potential and problems of groundwater in India, including contamination, sea water
ingress, recharge techniques, and sustainable management solutions.
