WHAT IS MOTIVATION
Motivation is the process of attempting to influence others to do their work through possibility of
gain or reward. motivation is a complex force in building and maintaining a person who enjoys
being an organization. The definition of motivation is to give reason, incentive, enthusiasm, or
interest that causes a specific action or certain behavior. Motivation is present in every life
function. Simple acts such as eating are motivated by hunger. Education is motivated by desire for
knowledge. Motivators can be anything from reward to coercion. From the scientific viewpoint,
by most accounts, motivation is defined as an inner state of need or desire. That state of desire
creates a movement or activity towards satisfying that desire. In my never-ending quest to spread
the word about turning ideas into action, I view inspiration as the state of mind that primes us to
come up with great ideas, and motivation as state of mind that spurs us to action.

TYPES OF MOTIVATION
• INTRINSIC MOTIVATION: Intrinsic motivation occurs when people are internally
motivated because it either brings them pleasure, they think is important, or they feel that
what they are learning is morally significant. We can't touch them with our fingertips, but
we can only feel them, such as gratitude, employer attitudes and job rotation. Internal
rewards are rewards within the work itself, such as satisfaction with the performance of the
task, the appreciation of the employer. Because one has to
feel competence and pride in something, an inner motivation can be created. Thus,
internally motivated nurses perform health care activities with no apparent benefit other
than the satisfaction and joy that comes with the job itself.
Internal motives come in three (3) forms which are: awareness, success and relaxation.
From birth, human beings are active, inquisitive and playful creatures in their healthiest
state, with an omnipresent willingness to learn and explore, and without external stimuli to
do so. Therefore, internal motivation is not the only form of motivation in humans or even
voluntary behavior, but it is omnipresent and meaningful. While in one sense there is
intrinsic motivation between individuals, in another sense there is intrinsic motivation in
the relationship between individuals and activities.
• EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION: To achieve better results and high employee productivity,
there must be an effective external incentive system. Although declared employee loyalty
depends on remuneration and incentives for them. Social incentives help employees build
trust to achieve company goals. External motivation is related to behavior that leads to
activities that are not their own intentions, such as payments or compliments or dictations
of other. External motivation, such as salary increases, awards, and promotions, is a way
to fulfill indirect desires or something else offers as recognition of a job well done. External
motivation focuses on goal-driven factors, such as the incentives or rewards gained in
completing a task. The combination of internal and external motivation influences
individual motives and their real attitude to activity. To achieve a concrete result, external
motivation can be described as performing an action. Externally oriented healthcare
professionals are often involved in clinical practice from external motives such as
incentives, positive feedback, recognition, etc., rather than from their own enjoyment of
the task itself (inherent motivation).

INCENTIVES
An incentive is something which stimulates a person towards some goal. It activates human
needs and creates the desire to work. Thus, an incentive is a means of motivation. In
organizations, increase in incentive leads to better performance and vice versa.

NEEDS FOR INCENTIVES

Human is a wanting animal. He/she continues to want something or other. He/she is never
fully satisfied. If one need is satisfied, the other needs arise. In order to motivate the
employees, the management should try to satisfy their needs. For the purpose, both
financial and non-financial incentives maybe used by the management to motivate the
workers. Financial incentives or motivators are those which are associated with money.
They include wages and salaries, fringe benefits, bonus, retirement benefits etc. Non-
financial motivators are those which are not associated with monetary rewards. They
include intangible incentives like ego-satisfaction, self-actualization and responsibility.

PRINCIPLES OF STAFF MOTIVATION

• Purpose: Humans have an inmate need to seek out meaning in their lives even their work
lives. Helping your team members to see a bigger purpose in their work, find meaning in
their day-to-day duties, and see the impact of the work, they do can have a positive effect
on motivation.
Meaningful work has a purpose and creates an impact. When employees view their work
as purposeful and impactful, they are committed to their work because they want to make
a positive impact.
For many people, works helps them meet their need to accomplish goals and make a
difference in the world. Having a job where the work one does is purposeful and has a
deeper meaning beyond the daily tasks improves motivation.
• Belonging: Creating a sense of belonging requires a psychologically safe work
environment. Psychologically safety refers to the belief that one will not be punished for
asking questions, raising concerns, or voicing ideas.
• Positive work environment: A positive work environment facilitates teamwork and keep
morale high.
• Autonomy: Autonomy gives employees the flexibility they want, increase accountability,
and build trust.
• Growth: Growth helps employees achieve their professional goals, develop their skills,
and perform better.
• Recognition: Recognition shows the employees the impact their work makes and make
them feel valued.
WHAT IS MARKETING?
Essentially, marketing is the process of communicating the value of a product or service to
potential customers in order to sell it. It involves anticipating, managing, and meeting product and
service demand, and promoting an organization’s ability to do so to its target market. As a marketer,
you’ll assist companies in identifying and understanding their customers, as well as developing
strategies for communicating the benefits and unique selling points of their product or service.

How Can Marketing Shape Business Success?

The heart of business success lies in its marketing. This is why marketing strategies should be
perfectly aligned with business offerings.

1. Getting Word Out

For a business to succeed, its products or services must be known to potential customers. Unless
your business is well known in the community, you’ll need to use marketing methods to raise
awareness. Without proper marketing, your potential customers may never be aware of your
business offerings, and hence, you may not be given the opportunity to progress and thrive. Using
marketing to promote your product, service and company provide your business with a chance of
being discovered by new prospects.

2. Higher Sales

When your company appears on your prospects’ radar screens, the likelihood of them making a
purchase improves. As awareness grows, new consumers begin to spread the word, informing their
friends and family about this fantastic new product they discovered. Your sales will steadily
increase as the word spreads. Without marketing, these sales may not even have occurred; without
sales, a company cannot succeed.

3. Company Reputation
The success of a company often rests on a solid reputation. Marketing builds brand name
recognition or product recall with a company. When a company reaches the public’s high
expectations, its reputation stands on firmer ground. As your reputation grows, the business
flourishes, and sales increase. Active participation in community initiatives, effective
communication, and high-quality products or services, all developed or supported by marketing
efforts, help to establish your company’s reputation

it grows and what its lifespan is. This is where marketing comes across as a way to build
the brand equity of businesses. And this happens when the expectations of the customers
are met.

must build a long-lasting relationship with its customers. Marketing is based on

business marketing strategy helps in boosting growth as well as growing the number of consumers
for a business. Some of the different marketing strategies include promotions and advertising,
establishing media relations and other aspects. Even when a business provides the best products
and services, it is important for people to know about it. This provides information to consumers
