ELEVATOR TECHNICAL DOSSIER

Further to the agreement signed for elevator technical inspection, a technical dossier
should be submitted for review. The dossier shall comply with Annex C of NL EN81-1
and should include the following information:

I. General:

a- Type of equipment - rated load - rated speed - number of passengers


b- Travel of the lift, number of landings served
c- Mass of the car and of the counterweight or balancing weight

II. Plans and drawings:

Drawings shall include all necessary information and details to allow for checking
conformity with applicable codes and standards, mainly the following:

a- Clearances at the top of the well and in the pit


b- Any accessible spaces which exist below the well
c- Access to the pit
d- Guards between lifts if there are more than one in the same well
e- Provision for holes for fixings
f- Position and principal dimensions of machinery spaces with the layout of the
machine and principal devices. Dimensions of the traction sheave or the drum.
Ventilation holes. Reaction loads on the building and at the bottom of the pit
g- Access to machinery spaces
h- Position and principal dimensions of the pulley spaces, if any. Position and
dimensions of pulleys
i- Position of other devices in the pulley spaces
j- Access to the pulley spaces
k- Arrangement and principal dimensions of landing doors and the distances between
the landing door sills
l- Arrangement and dimensions of inspection doors and inspection traps and
emergency doors
m- Dimensions of the car and of its entrances
n- Distances from the sill and from the car door to the inner surface of the well wall
o- Horizontal distance between the closed car and landing doors
p- Suitable locations of luminaries for machine room and lift well lighting
q- Locations of limit switches
r- Locations of power sockets
s- Alarm device (locations of intercom stations)
t- Detail of structural steelwork for lift machinery in lift machine room

III. Technical Details:

a- Principal characteristics of the suspension – safety factor- ropes (number, diameter,


composition, breaking load)
b- Calculation of the safety factor
c- Principal characteristics of the overspeed governor rope: diameter, composition,
breaking load, safety factor
d- Dimensions and proof calculation of the guide rails, condition and dimensions of the
rubbing surfaces (drawn, milled, ground)
e- Dimensions and proof of energy accumulation type buffers with linear
characteristics.
f- Characteristics of the inverter
g- Characteristics of the control panel board

IV. Electric Schematic Diagrams:

Outline electric schematic diagrams of:


a- Power circuits
b- Circuits connected with electric safety devices

V. Verification of conformity:

A copy of each relevant type examination certificate shall be provided:


a- Locking devices
b- Landing doors (fire test certificate if applicable)
c- Safety gear
d- Overspeed governor
e- Ascending car overspeed protection means
f- Buffers
g- Protection against unintended car movement
