2 Step Tuesday
Put a little excitement into your study of word problems by starting “2 Step Tuesdays.”
Every Tuesday my class looks forward to strengthening their understanding of word
problems in a special way. On every page there is one addition, one subtraction, one column
addition, and a two step word problem. The children learn to identify what type of
problem the story is and how to solve it. How to get started!
Closer Look 1. Have a child read the problem
aloud to the class.
2. Have the children solve the
problem independently.

Column Addition 2 Step Problems
Column addition word problems contain 3 or 2 Step word problems take 2 steps to

An example of column addition is: to solve the problem.
