One of the biggest challenges I faced while trying to reach my dream of studying abroad was my
lack of confidence in speaking English. Although I had studied the language for many years, I
always felt nervous whenever I had to speak in front of other people. This became a serious
problem when I needed to prepare for the IELTS speaking test. I often hesitated, forgot
vocabulary, and worried that I would never be good enough to achieve my goal.
To deal with this challenge, I created a strict practice routine. Every day, I recorded myself
speaking about different topics, listened to the recordings, and identified my mistakes. I also
joined an online speaking club to practise with strangers, which helped me become more
comfortable expressing my ideas. Over time, I started to see improvement, and my confidence
slowly grew.
The most important lesson I learnt about myself is that I am capable of growing if I am patient
and consistent. I realised that fear only controls me when I let it, and once I take the first step,
progress becomes possible.
