Moral: Life is like an exam paper—sometimes multiple-choices,
sometimes essay-style. But the real test isn’t just about
ticking boxes; it’s about understanding the questions, even when
they’re not neatly laid out. Remember that life’s answers don’t
always fit in bubbles. Sometimes, you need to write your own
story, complete with plot twists, character development, and a
dash of suspense. Life is not measured by pass or fail; it's
about the journey of growth, acceptance, and resilience. True
success comes from within.
Scene 1
(The stage should have 5-6 books lying on the ground, some open
and others closed + a school bag)
N: Day before NEET exam
(Deepa is sitting down on the stage and flipping through the
books one hand supporting her head)
(Spongebob time card - “12:00 midnight”)
(Deepa falls asleep on the books (cartoon funny snoring sound
effect))
(Spongebob time card - “The next morning”)
D: (muttering to herself in anguish) Come on, come on, just a
little more. I can’t mess this up. . .
(Sound of footsteps approaching + door opening sound)
(Mother enters with an empty paper plate)
M: (smiling) Deepa, breakfast is ready! You need to eat
something before your exam.
D: (still looking down at books) Mom! I’m in a race against time
here. These theorems keep sprinting away from me.
(Mother sits down beside him, but still facing the audience, and
pushes an empty spoon in front of her)
M: (gently) Just a few bites, darling. You’ve worked so hard for
this exam. You’ll do great.
(Father enters the scene)
F: (sternly) Deepa, you better pass this time! I don’t want you
to be the family embarrassment. Look at your cousins, already
working and making us proud.
(Father frowns at her)
M: (Sternly) That’s enough, Raj!
(looking at Deepa with a gentle and caring expression on her
face)
M: Deepa, don’t listen to him. This exam doesn't define you. You
have so much potential!
(Deepa looks at his mother and then his father with a worried
expression on her face and takes a deep breath)
(Mother and Father exit the scene)
(Deepa quickly eats her breakfast, packs her bag and exits the
stage)
Scene 2
N: Day of NEET
(The stage should have a table and 4 chair, the table is kept
on the stage itself)
(Everyone is sitting on a chair)
(A teacher begins to distribute the papers)
(Sound of bell ringing)
(Deepa looks at her watch and begins to write the exam)
(clock ticking sound in background + bell sound at the end)
(Spongebob time card -”One eternity later”)
(Everyone gives his paper to the teacher and exits the stage)
Scene 3
N: Result day
(Setting: The stage should have a table and a phone lying on the
table)
(Deepa is walking back and forth anxiously, biting her nails)
(Sound of phone ringing)
D: (picking up the phone and holding it close to her ear)
Hey, Anvi!
Anvi:Deepa! The results are out! Are your parents home?
D: (With a hint of sadness in her voice) Yeah, they’re here
(They log onto the results page)
Anvi: (excited) Let’s check it together!
I got 650! Yes! What about you,Deepa?
(Deepa eyes widen in shock as she looks down at her screen, she
runs a hand through her hair almost grabbing it and falls to the
ground)
D: (Shaking her head in disbelief, stuttering) No…no… I - I got
only 270. H - how?
(Sound of call ending)
(Father enters the stage in a fit of anger followed by the
mother who is trying to calm the father down while looking
equally sad and horrified)
F:(shouting)WHAT?!! You scored that low!
After all that we've sacrificed, what? Just to get a pathetic
270?! Unbelievable!
D:But I-
F:Silence! I don’t want any explanations,YOU are a
disappointment.
M: (horrified) Raj! She is your daughter!!
F: I know! But seriously God, why? Did the gods up there run out
of brain cells when they crafted you ?!! Why this good for
nothing -
M: (Sternly) Raj! That’s enough.
(Mother and father exits the stage)
(Deepa buries her head in her hand and then slowly exits the
stage looking shattered)
Scene 4
(Serial sound playing)
(Mother is sitting on a chair and watching TV, holding a remote
in one hand)
(Father is pacing across the stage, looking depressed and
irritated at the same time)
F: (shouting) ARE YOU NOT WORRIED ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER’S
FUTURE!!! Change the bloody channel and put something useful for
once.
(Mother looks annoyed but changes the channel)
(News intro sound playing)
REPORTER : Welcome to SCV news. This is (insert name) live from
Sarvodaya Central Vidyalaya, Trivandrum. We’re here with a group
of passionate protestors demanding justice in the wake of the
NEET scam that rocked the community earlier this year.
PROTESTORS : WE WANT JUSTICE! WE WANT JUSTICE!
REPORTER: Excuse me what’s your name? Could you please tell us
how the NEET scam affected you?
PROTESTOR 1: Hi my name is (insert name). I am 18 years old and
finished my 12th last year. I took the entrance exam, but after
scoring low, I chose to take a gap year and give it another
shot. I was determined to study hard, pouring all my blood,
sweat and tears into making my dreams a reality. But for what?
Just to get scammed? It infuriates me that no matter how hard I
work, the world keeps showing me that privilege wins.
"Equality"? It’s a joke! It’s clear that those with advantages
get ahead, while the rest of us are left to fight for scraps.
REPORTER : (facing the camera) On 5 May 2024, NEET-UG faced
allegations of question paper leaks. While social media posts
claimed the exam questions were leaked, the NTA denied these
allegations. In Patna, Bihar, police arrested 13 people,
including four examinees, who had allegedly paid ₹30 lakh to ₹50
lakh to obtain the question paper beforehand. In Godhra,
Gujarat, a raid at an exam center revealed that a teacher, who
was also the deputy superintendent, instructed students not to
answer questions they didn’t know, promising to fill in the
answers. The examination results, declared on 4 June 2024, also
sparked controversy due to a significant increase in the number
of top rankers. Many students received scores deemed
mathematically impossible, leading to complaints and legal
challenges. IS THIS HOW LOW OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM HAS SUNK? IS
THIS THE DISGRACEFUL FUTURE WE'RE DOOMED TO HAND OUR CHILDREN?
M: (hastily) No.. [Link] need to see Deepa, NOW!!
(Mother and father exit the stage)
Scene 5
(Setting: Deepa is holding a knife in one hand really close to
her wrist, while looking tensed)
M: (barging into the stage) Deepa!
F: (barging in with a horrified expression on his face) No!
Stop!
(Father snatches the knife from Deepa’s hand, tossing it aside,
and enfolds her in a tight embrace)
F: I’m sorry, child. I was wrong. Your life is worth so much
more than just exams or scores.
(Deepa’s expression slowly shifts from despair to confusion)
D: But... I failed. I’m not good enough...
M: Listen, sweetheart. A number doesn’t define your worth or
your future. You’re our angel, and your worth extends far beyond
any test paper.
(Deepa nestles into his mother’s chest, then he takes a deep
breath to clam down)
D: (sniffling) I…I don’t want to end everything just because of
one exam.
F: (nodding) Exactly. Life isn’t confined to exam halls. It’s a
grand adventure. Discover your passions, learn, stumble, and
rise. Your journey matters more than any grade.
D: (with determination) Screw grades. I want to live life to the
fullest… and make you proud, not through my grades, but who I
become.
N: Deepa’s realization transcends the classroom—it’s a lesson
for us all. Remember that your worth isn’t confined to any
single metric. You’re more than the sum of your achievements.
