EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report presents the outcomes and insights from my internship at Tangibles, a
leading clothing brand in streetwear and stylish fashion. Operating on both B2B and
D2C models, Tangibles emphasizes personalized apparel, ready-to-wear collections,
and apparel exports. My project, titled "Optimizing Digital Presence - Developing a
Customer-Centric Website with SEO and SEM Strategies in Tangibles," was aimed at
enhancing the brand's digital footprint by creating a customer-focused, responsive
website optimized for visibility and conversions.

The primary objective was to build a digital platform that strengthens Tangibles’ brand
identity and supports customer acquisition by aligning with consumer preferences and
improving overall usability. My responsibilities included creating a website layout that
prioritizes user experience, making it responsive for both desktop and mobile users, and
enabling intuitive navigation. Additionally, I integrated multiple software solutions to
ensure user-friendly payment methods and efficient logistics, further enhancing the
shopping experience for Tangibles' growing direct-to-consumer audience.

A core component of my role was to increase the website’s organic search visibility,
focusing on SEO strategies like content optimization, keyword research, and technical
SEO enhancements. These initiatives were aimed at increasing Tangibles' search ranks
in order to improve brand recognition and credibility in the fashion and streetwear
industries. To complement organic strategies, I developed paid search campaigns as part
of an SEM initiative to reach potential customers with highly targeted ads. These
campaigns were designed to drive qualified traffic and support B2B client acquisition
while maximizing Tangibles' brand presence among individual consumers.

Through these initiatives, the project achieved measurable improvements across key
performance indicators, including website traffic, brand visibility, and conversion rates.
Tangibles' website saw an increase in both organic and paid traffic, while enhanced UX

7
and responsive design supported higher conversion rates, aligning closely with the
brand's D2C and B2B goals.

The executive summary concludes that this project provided me with valuable abilities
in digital marketing, such as SEO and SEM strategy implementation, website design,
and user experience optimization, all within the framework of Tangibles' unique
business model. The project's success highlights the significance of a systematic
approach to digital presence in producing measurable outcomes and increasing
customer engagement for a fashion-forward business like Tangibles.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

10
INTRODUCTION

The progression of the internship's events:

The internship program at Tangibles, started from 24th June 2024 to 24th August 2024.
To give interns a well-rounded experience, the initial 2 weeks included a thorough
orientation and training module. Afterward the internship provided a valuable and
hands-on experience in digital marketing, assigned with multiple responsibilities that
contributed to the brand's digital transformation.

Scope of task accomplished during the internship

As a new brand, Tangibles aims to establish a strong digital foundation that not only
attracts potential customers but also enhances brand awareness and fosters loyalty. The
digital strategy involves developing an optimized, user-friendly website that supports
both D2C and B2B customer interactions. Tangibles' online platform will support the
brand’s primary goals of customer acquisition, engagement, and retention by delivering
a seamless user experience, optimizing search engine visibility, and integrating efficient
payment and logistics solutions.

The flow of events during my internship at Tangibles followed a structured approach,

beginning with an in-depth understanding of the brand’s goals and digital needs,
followed by website design and development, SEO optimization, and the integration of
payment and logistics systems. As I progressed, I focused on enhancing the user
experience, implementing SEM strategies, and continuously monitoring KPIs to refine
and improve the website’s performance, ensuring alignment with the company's
broader objectives.

As a Digital Marketing Intern, I undertook a range of responsibilities aimed at

developing and optimizing the brand's digital presence. The scope of work completed

11
encompassed such as Created a customer-centric website that aligns with Tangibles’
brand identity and caters to the specific needs of both B2B and D2C segments. Also
Conducted thorough keyword research and incorporated relevant keywords into
website content, meta tags, headers, and alt text to enhance search engine rankings and
prioritized responsive design, ensuring smooth navigation and optimal functionality
across various devices, particularly for mobile users who represent a significant portion
of the website traffic.

Overcoming Challenges

Joining Tangibles as a Digital Marketing Intern presented unique challenges that

required adaptability and proactive problem-solving. As an emerging brand, Tangibles
is still in the foundational stages of establishing its digital presence. One of the initial
challenges was understanding and aligning with the brand’s distinct B2B and D2C
model, which required a balanced approach that appealed to both corporate clients and
individual consumers. Building a customer-centric website for Tangibles involved
conducting extensive research on competitors, identifying relevant keywords, and
understanding user preferences, all of which were essential to shape an effective SEO
and SEM strategy.

Another significant challenge was managing the technical aspects of website

optimization. Integrating payment gateways and logistics solutions required attention
to detail and troubleshooting skills to ensure seamless functionality. I had to familiarize
myself with new software tools and develop solutions for potential user experience
issues, all while meeting tight deadlines. Additionally, with Tangibles’ aim to establish
a competitive online presence, it was crucial to develop a responsive and user-friendly
website design that catered to a growing mobile user base. Ensuring the website’s
performance across various devices and browsers was challenging but ultimately
rewarding as it contributed to a smooth user experience.

Effective communication was essential throughout this process, as I frequently

collaborated with the marketing and technical teams to ensure that all components were
aligned with Tangibles' brand values and goals. This experience taught me to address

12
challenges with a systematic approach, leveraging feedback and continuously refining
the website to meet user expectations and brand standards.

Upcoming Aspiration

My internship at Tangibles has been an invaluable learning experience that has

significantly shaped my career aspirations. Working on the brand's digital presence has
deepened my interest in digital marketing, particularly in areas like SEO, SEM, and
user experience design. I am now inspired to continue developing my skills in these
fields, with the long-term goal of becoming a digital marketing strategist. This
internship allowed me to witness firsthand how a well-designed digital presence can
impact brand recognition, customer engagement, and business growth.

In the future, I aspire to work with brands that value innovation and customer-centricity
and aim to drive meaningful online engagement. I am particularly interested in
exploring more advanced SEO techniques and data analytics to create even more
targeted and effective marketing campaigns. Additionally, I plan to enhance my
technical knowledge, especially in web design and e-commerce platforms, so I can
deliver holistic digital solutions that align with diverse brand goals.

13
CHAPTER 2
Learning Objectives of Internship

14
Learning Objectives of Internship

The internship was designed to help me gain an improved understanding of digital

marketing in the fashion sector, with a focus on developing and optimizing websites to
create a customer-centric digital presence. My work on the project "Optimizing Digital
Presence - Developing a Customer-Centric Website with SEO and SEM Strategies
in Tangibles" was directed by numerous specific learning objectives.

Understanding the Fundamentals of Digital Marketing in the Fashion

Industry:

This objective involved studying the digital marketing techniques that are specifically
effective for brands within the streetwear and personalized apparel market. I aimed to
understand how factors like brand storytelling, product presentation, and social proof
influence customer engagement and conversion rates.

As Tangibles is a new brand, analysing competitors, such as The Souled Store,

Breakoff, and Snitch, helped me identify key differentiators in digital marketing
approaches. Through this analysis, I aimed to understand how established brands create
awareness, attract a loyal customer base, and build a strong online reputation.

Tangibles operates on both B2B and D2C models, which means appealing to diverse
audience segments. My objective was to learn how to cater digital marketing strategies
to each audience. For instance, D2C marketing targets younger, trend-driven
individuals within India, whereas B2B strategies focus on securing bulk orders from
companies globally. This understanding informed both the content and structure of the
website.

15
Developing a Customer-Centric Website:

The objective here was to build a website that is not only visually appealing but also
functional and aligned with customer expectations. This involved conducting user
experience (UX) research to identify the needs of our target demographics. I focused
on designing features that cater to the browsing habits of different user groups, such as
personalized order options for individual consumers and catalogue-based navigation
for B2B clients.

Recognizing the importance of mobile optimization, my objective was to ensure the

website’s performance across various devices. With a large number of users accessing
websites via mobile, especially in the apparel industry, the challenge was to create a
design that maintained functionality and aesthetics on smaller screens. I learned
techniques to adapt page layouts, optimize images, and ensure fast load times for mobile
users.

Considering the user journey map, I focused on simplifying the website’s navigation
and enhancing its accessibility. This objective required an understanding of user flow,
from landing on the homepage to completing a purchase, and involved designing easy
access to important pages, intuitive navigation paths, and clear call-to-action buttons
that guide users effectively through the site.

Implementing SEO Strategies for Enhanced Organic Visibility:

To improve the website’s ranking, my objective was to gain proficiency in keyword

research, identifying terms and phrases that resonate with Tangibles' target audiences.
Using tools like Yoast SEO, I optimized content by strategically placing these keywords
within the website’s headers, titles, meta descriptions, and alt text for images.

16
To support organic visibility, I worked on the technical aspects of SEO, including
improving page load speeds, ensuring mobile compatibility, and addressing potential
issues like broken links. These technical improvements aimed to enhance user
experience and comply with search engine algorithms that prioritize user satisfaction.
On-page SEO required a detailed understanding of various elements, such as optimizing
URL structures, meta tags, and internal links to make the website more user-friendly.

Integrating E-Commerce Functionalities:

A significant objective was to learn the processes involved in establishing a functional

e-commerce system, with WooCommerce serving as the primary platform for
Tangibles’ online store. I integrated WooCommerce to manage product listings,
inventory, and order processing, providing a scalable and user-friendly solution for both
administrators and customers. Additionally, I integrated Razorpay as a secure payment
gateway and Shiprocket for logistics, ensuring smooth order fulfillment from purchase
to delivery.

Using WooCommerce as the core platform, I aimed to create a seamless shopping

experience, focusing on efficient navigation, streamlined cart and checkout processes,
and clear transaction notifications. This objective involved learning how to optimize
WooCommerce’s functionality, enhancing the purchasing journey from browsing
through to payment and confirmation.

As Tangibles product catalogue and customer base expand, my objective was to

configure WooCommerce for scalability, enabling the platform to handle future growth
in inventory and traffic. WooCommerce’s flexibility allowed me to set up features that
can accommodate additional e-commerce functions, such as personalized apparel
options, without disrupting the site’s core functionality.

Designing and Executing SEM Campaigns:

17
The objective was to learn the fundamentals of SEM, including keyword bidding,
targeting, and ad creation, to reach potential customers effectively. I focused on
understanding how to structure campaigns to increase visibility for Tangibles and drive
traffic to the website.

It also involved learning how to interpret and respond to SEM data, adjusting bids,
refining ad copy, and targeting based on performance insights. By understanding
campaign metrics such as click-through rates and conversion rates, I aimed to maximize
the effectiveness of paid search efforts.

Analysing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

I focused on learning which KPIs are most essential in measuring digital marketing
outcomes, such as website traffic, conversion rates, bounce rates, and brand visibility.
Understanding these KPIs was essential for evaluating the impact of my work and the
overall effectiveness of Tangibles’ digital presence.

I learned the value of continuous optimization. I applied a data-driven approach to

identify areas of improvement, fine-tuning the website and campaigns based on insights
to achieve better results over time.

Enhancing Problem-Solving and Project Management Skills:

Throughout the project, I encountered challenges, such as optimizing page load speed
and ensuring cross-device compatibility. My objective was to develop problem-solving
skills by systematically addressing these issues and applying best practices in UX/UI
and technical SEO.

Working closely with various teams at Tangibles, including marketing and technical
support, taught me the importance of effective communication. I learned to coordinate
efforts, gather insights, and ensure alignment with the brand’s goals, which was
essential in managing the project efficiently.

18
To complete the internship project within a limited time frame, I improved my project
management skills. This involved task prioritization, meeting deadlines, and balancing
multiple responsibilities, which contributed to my ability to manage complex projects
effectively.

Literature Review

Historical Background and Evolution of Digital Marketing

Digital marketing, a critical component of modern business strategy, has transformed

significantly over the past few decades. This evolution, marked by technological
advancements and shifting consumer preferences, has enabled brands to interact with
global audiences in innovative ways.

Below is a historical overview, outlining key phases in digital marketing's development

and its relevance to today’s businesses, including apparel brands like Tangibles.

• Early Days of Digital Marketing (1990s):

The roots of digital marketing trace back to the early 1990s with the advent of
the World Wide Web. Tim Berners-Lee’s creation of the web in 1989 opened the
door for businesses to reach audiences through an entirely new medium. By
1993, the first clickable banner ad was launched, and with it, the concept of
web-based advertising began. At this stage, digital marketing was still nascent,
with limited reach and functionality. Most businesses used websites merely as
online brochures, lacking the interactive capabilities we see today.

During this time, email marketing also emerged as an important tool, initially
used primarily for mass communication. However, as companies began to see
its potential, email marketing quickly evolved into a method for building
customer relationships. The 1990s were primarily about establishing a digital
presence, with businesses slowly recognizing the internet’s marketing potential.

27
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the Growth of Search
Engines:

The rise of search engines like Yahoo!, AltaVista, and eventually Google,
which was founded in 1998. The introduction of search engines changed the
landscape of digital marketing by allowing users to search for specific
information online. This shift led to the emergence of Search Engine
Optimization (SEO) as companies realized that higher visibility on search
results could drive traffic to their websites. Early SEO practices were
straightforward, often focusing on keyword stuffing and meta tags to achieve
higher rankings.

The launch of Google AdWords in 2000 took digital marketing a step further,
introducing pay-per-click (PPC) advertising and providing companies with an
affordable way to reach targeted audiences. Google's rise also emphasized
quality and relevance, as its algorithms became more sophisticated. This
evolution marked a move away from mere digital presence toward a focus on
targeted visibility and quality content.

• Social Media and the Era of Engagement:

Social media platforms like Facebook (2004), YouTube (2005), and Twitter
(2006) transformed digital marketing by introducing highly interactive channels
for consumer engagement. These platforms allowed brands to create content,
interact directly with consumers, and foster community building. For
businesses, this meant shifting from a one-way communication model to a more
engaging, two-way approach. Marketing became more social, with content
marketing and influencer partnerships playing a significant role in increasing
brand reach and consumer trust.

28
Businesses also began leveraging data and analytics to measure campaign
effectiveness. With advanced insights into consumer behavior, marketers could
tailor content more effectively, enabling personalization. By the end of the
decade, digital marketing had expanded from search and display advertising to
a highly interactive and data-driven practice, reaching customers in various
ways, including blogs, videos, and social media posts.

• Mobile Marketing and the Mobile-First Approach

By 2010, mobile internet usage was growing rapidly, prompting businesses to

adopt a mobile-first approach in their marketing strategies. Mobile marketing
allowed for personalized, real-time engagement with consumers through SMS,
in-app ads, push notifications, and responsive websites.

Digital marketing strategies became increasingly tailored to mobile users,

leading to significant advancements in app-based advertising, location-based
targeting, and mobile-friendly content. This period also saw the emergence of
programmatic advertising, allowing marketers to buy ad space in real-time,
improving efficiency and precision in targeting.

• The Rise of Content Marketing, Influencer Marketing, and

Personalization

Content marketing took center stage, with companies realizing the power of
providing valuable, relevant content to their audiences. In parallel, influencer
marketing gained traction, especially on platforms like Instagram, where brands
could connect with consumers through trusted personalities.

29
Core Elements of Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is a complex discipline that includes a wide range of strategies, tools,
and techniques aimed at connecting brands with their audiences through digital
channels. To build an effective digital marketing strategy, businesses must understand
and leverage the core elements of digital marketing.

We explore the fundamental components that make up the digital marketing landscape:

• Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Is the practice of optimizing a website or

online content to improve its ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs).
It involves both on-page and off-page techniques to increase visibility and drive
organic traffic to a website.

On-Page SEO: This includes optimizing website content, meta tags,

headings, images, internal linking, and ensuring the website is mobile-
friendly.

Off-Page SEO: This refers to activities like building backlinks from other
reputable websites, social media signals, and online reputation management.

Technical SEO: Involves optimizing the technical aspects of a website, such

as site speed, mobile compatibility, and secure connections (HTTPS).

30
• Search Engine Marketing (SEM)

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is the practice of using paid advertisements to

appear on search engine results pages. The most common form of SEM is PPC
(Pay Per Click) advertising, where advertisers pay for every click on their ad.

Google Ads is one of the most widely used platforms for PPC campaigns,
Google Ads allows businesses to create targeted ads that appear in search results
or on Google’s display network. Keywords, ad copy, bidding strategies, and
targeting options (such as location or demographics) are all factors that
influence the success of SEM campaigns.

• Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing involves promoting a brand, product, or service on

social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and
YouTube. This channel is vital for both organic and paid engagement.

Organic social media: Engaging with followers by posting relevant

content, responding to comments, participating in conversations, and
building a community around the brand.

Paid social media: Running targeted advertising campaigns on social

media platforms to drive traffic, sales, or brand awareness.

Influencer Marketing: Partnering with influencers—individuals with

large followings—to promote the brand in a more authentic and relatable
manner.

31
Social Listening: Monitoring and analyzing social media conversations
to understand customer sentiment and improve customer experience.

• Email Marketing

Email marketing is one of the oldest forms of digital marketing but remains one
of the most effective for nurturing leads and building relationships with
customers.

It is highly personalized, allowing businesses to communicate directly with

consumers, offering tailored content and product recommendations based on
user behavior.

• Content Marketing

Content marketing is the creation and distribution of valuable, relevant, and

consistent content aimed at attracting and engaging a target audience. The goal
of content marketing is to provide useful information to users while positioning
the brand as an authority in its industry.

It helps build brand awareness, trust, and customer loyalty, and is essential in
nurturing long-term relationships with customers.

• Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing strategy in which

businesses reward affiliates for driving traffic or sales to their website. Affiliates
typically promote products through blogs, websites, or social media channels
and earn a commission for every sale or lead generated.

It is an effective way to expand brand reach and sales through third-party

promoters while only paying for actual results.

32
Affiliate Networks: Platforms like Amazon Associates or Rakuten
Marketing connect businesses with affiliates who can promote their
products on various channels.

Commission Models: Affiliates are often compensated through various

models, including pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-lead (PPL), or pay-per-
sale (PPS).

• Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing leverages individuals with a significant following on

platforms like Instagram and YouTube to promote products or services.
Influencers often have highly engaged audiences who trust their opinions,
asking them powerful advocates for brands.

Types of Influencers:
Micro-influencers (smaller but highly engaged audiences)
Macro-influencers (larger, broad-reaching followings).

Sponsored Posts and Collaborations: Brands collaborate with

influencers to create sponsored content, product reviews, unboxing
videos, or giveaways.

33
Digital Marketing and Consumer Behavior in E-Commerce

Digital marketing plays a pivotal role in influencing consumer behavior. With the shift
from traditional brick-and-mortar shopping to online purchasing, understanding how
consumers behave in the digital space is crucial for businesses aiming to optimize their
marketing efforts and maximize conversions. Digital marketing strategies, tailored to
the needs and preferences of online shoppers, significantly impact the buying decisions
of consumers.

• The Influence of Digital Marketing on Consumer Behavior

Digital marketing encompasses a wide range of tools and strategies, such as

search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, content marketing,
and personalized advertising, all designed to guide consumers through their
purchasing journey. These strategies target various stages of the consumer
decision-making process, from awareness to consideration and ultimately, the
purchase decision.

Awareness: Consumers often begin their buying journey by discovering

products online, whether through search engines, social media, or
advertisements. The use of SEO and paid search campaigns helps
businesses appear in front of potential customers at the moment of their
interest. High-quality content, whether blog posts, reviews, or videos,
can also serve as valuable touchpoints for generating awareness and
educating consumers about a brand and its offerings.

Consideration and Comparison: Once consumers are aware of a

product, they enter the consideration phase, where they compare
different options. Here, digital marketing techniques like remarketing
(showing ads to users who have previously visited a website) and

34
targeted social media ads can influence consumers’ preferences by
keeping a brand top of mind. Additionally, online reviews, ratings, and
influencer endorsements significantly affect a consumer’s perception of
a product’s quality and trustworthiness.

Purchase Decision: The final stage of the buying journey is where

consumers make their purchase decision. Factors such as user-friendly
website design, easy navigation, seamless mobile experience, and
multiple payment options all play a crucial role in conversion rates. A
smooth, frictionless checkout process is a key determinant in reducing
cart abandonment and increasing online sales.

• The Role of Personalization in E-Commerce

One of the most significant shifts in consumer behavior is the demand for
personalized experiences. As consumers increasingly interact with brands
through digital platforms, they expect content and product recommendations
that are tailored to their preferences, past behavior, and demographic
information. Personalization—whether through email marketing, targeted ads,
or website customization—creates a more engaging and relevant experience for
consumers.

Personalized experiences not only increase conversion rates but also foster
customer loyalty. By offering recommendations based on previous purchases or
browsing history, brands can create a more individualized shopping experience
that aligns with the consumer’s interests. This approach enhances the perceived
value of the brand, encouraging repeat purchases and brand advocacy.

• Consumer Trust and Digital Marketing

Trust is a critical factor in online shopping. Consumers are more likely to make
a purchase from websites they trust, which is influenced by elements such as
website security (SSL certificates), transparency in pricing and policies, and

35
customer reviews. Digital Marketing is a significant role in building this trust
by showcasing social proof (reviews and testimonials), maintaining consistent
brand messaging, and offering guarantees such as easy returns and secure
payment methods.

Influence of Digital Marketing on Brand Loyalty and

Retention

Brand loyalty and customer retention are vital for the long-term success of any business.
In the digital age, digital marketing has become a powerful tool in fostering and
strengthening these aspects of consumer behavior. Through various digital channels,
businesses can build meaningful relationships with their customers, encourage repeat
purchases, and ultimately create brand advocates who continuously choose their
products or services.

• Personalized Marketing and Customer Engagement

Personalization is one of the key drivers of brand loyalty and retention in the
digital space. With an abundance of data available on consumer preferences,
behaviors, and past interactions, businesses can tailor their marketing efforts
to meet the specific needs and desires of each customer. Personalized
content, offers, and recommendations make customers feel valued and
understood, leading to stronger emotional connections with the brand.

Email Marketing: Personalized email campaigns based on customers'

past purchases or browsing history can effectively engage users and
encourage repeat purchases. For example, a brand may send
personalized product recommendations, birthday offers, or loyalty
rewards to enhance the customer experience.

36
Website Customization: Many e-commerce platforms leverage
cookies and tracking tools to personalize the website experience.
Showing customers personalized recommendations, discounts, or offers
based on their previous browsing or purchase history increases the
chances of retention.

• Consistency Across Digital Channels

Consistency in messaging, tone, and visual identity across all digital platforms
is crucial for building brand recognition and trust. When a customer interacts
with a brand, whether on social media, via email, or on a website, they should
experience a cohesive and consistent brand identity. This consistency enhances
the sense of reliability and familiarity, which are key factors in brand loyalty.

Social Media Engagement: Regular and meaningful interactions with

customers on social media platforms create a sense of community.
Whether responding to queries, sharing user-generated content, or
running interactive polls, social media enables brands to engage directly
with customers in a manner that humanizes the brand and fosters loyalty.

Content Marketing: By producing consistent, valuable, and relevant

content that addresses customer pain points and interests, brands build
trust over time. Content that educates, entertains, or informs customers
can strengthen brand credibility and loyalty.

• Loyalty Programs and Rewards

Digital marketing has revolutionized the way businesses implement loyalty

programs. By integrating loyalty schemes into their digital marketing efforts,
brands can incentivize repeat purchases and long-term engagement. Through

37
apps, websites, and email campaigns, businesses can offer rewards, discounts,
or exclusive access to loyal customers.

Points-Based Loyalty Programs: Many brands offer rewards points for

each purchase, which can later be redeemed for discounts or free
products. Digital platforms make it easier to track and communicate
loyalty program progress to customers, increasing the likelihood of
continued engagement.

Exclusive Offers: Digital marketing tools allow brands to target their

most loyal customers with exclusive deals, early access to sales, or
special VIP perks, enhancing the customer experience and increasing the
likelihood of retention.

• Customer Feedback and Social Proof

Customer feedback is integral to digital marketing strategies that aim to build

brand loyalty. Listening to customers and addressing their needs and concerns
demonstrates that a brand values its customers, which can lead to increased
loyalty. Additionally, social proof (e.g., reviews, ratings, testimonials) plays a
significant role in consumer decision-making and retention.

Online Reviews: Positive reviews on platforms like Google, Amazon,

or social media act as powerful endorsements. Customers tend to trust
feedback from their peers, which influences their perception of the brand
and increases their likelihood of returning.

Surveys and Feedback: By actively soliciting customer feedback

through surveys or comment sections, businesses can show that they
care about improving the customer experience. Addressing customer
concerns promptly and publicly can strengthen trust and loyalty.

38
• Retargeting and Remarketing

Retargeting or remarketing is a digital marketing strategy that involves targeting

customers who have previously visited a brand’s website or interacted with its
content but did not make a purchase. By showing these customers targeted ads
across various platforms, businesses can remind them of the brand, increase
brand recall, and encourage them to complete their purchase.

Abandoned Cart Reminders: If a customer adds items to their

shopping cart but leaves without checking out, businesses can use
retargeting ads to remind them to complete their purchase. This
increases conversion rates and fosters retention by reminding customers
of the value of the brand.

Email Remarketing: Sending follow-up emails to users who have

shown interest in a product can also help improve conversion rates.
Offering a time-sensitive discount or incentive to complete a purchase
can encourage customers to return.

• Building Emotional Connections Through Storytelling

Storytelling in digital marketing is a powerful tool for cultivating emotional

connections between a brand and its customers. A compelling brand story that
aligns with the values and aspirations of its target audience can significantly
enhance customer loyalty.

Brand Storytelling: Whether through video content, social media posts,

or blog articles, sharing a brand’s journey, values, and mission helps
customers feel more connected. When customers resonate with a brand’s
story, they are more likely to stay loyal to the brand over time.

39
User-Generated Content (UGC): Encouraging customers to share
their own stories, experiences, and photos related to the brand not only
boosts engagement but also fosters a sense of community. UGC helps
create authenticity and trust, which are crucial components of brand
loyalty.

• Customer Service and Support

Effective customer service is critical in maintaining brand loyalty. The rise of

digital marketing channels has given consumers more ways to contact brands,
and they expect quick, helpful responses.

24/7 Support: Offering round-the-clock customer support through live

chat, chatbots, or social media ensures that customers feel heard and
always valued.

Post-Purchase Support: Providing useful post-purchase content such

as tutorials, care instructions, and troubleshooting guides also
contributes to a positive customer experience and encourages retention.

40
Website Development and User Experience (UX)

Website development and user experience (UX) are closely intertwined, with one
directly impacting the other. In the digital age, businesses aim to create websites that
are not only visually appealing but also functional, responsive, and easy to navigate.
This is especially crucial for e-commerce businesses like Tangibles, where a seamless
online experience can determine the success of customer acquisition, retention, and
conversion rates.

Customer-Centric Design Principles

Customer-centric design is a philosophy that puts the needs, desires, and behaviors of
the customer at the heart of the design process. In the context of websites, e-commerce,
or any digital platform, this approach focuses on creating a seamless, engaging, and
personalized experience for users. It ensures that the design decisions are made with
the goal of solving customer pain points, meeting their needs, and delivering an intuitive
experience that encourages engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty.

• User Research and Understanding: Understanding customer needs through

surveys, feedback, and analytics to create a tailored experience that speaks to
their preferences.

• Simplicity and Clarity: Keeping the website design simple and easy to
navigate, ensuring users can find information quickly without feeling
overwhelmed.

• Personalization: Offering tailored content, product recommendations, and

customization options based on user behavior and preferences.

41
• Mobile Responsiveness: Designing the website to be mobile-friendly, ensuring
smooth usability on smartphones and tablets.

• Ease of Navigation: Clear menus, filters, and a robust search function that
allow users to navigate the site effortlessly.

• Quick Load Times: Ensuring the website loads quickly to prevent user
frustration and abandonment.

• Trust and Security: Displaying security features (SSL certificates) and clear
policies to establish trust, especially for e-commerce transactions.

• Continuous Feedback and Improvement: Gathering user feedback and using

analytics to continuously optimize and improve the website’s functionality.

• Emotional Design and Engagement: Engaging customers emotionally

through visual design, branding, and storytelling to create a deeper connection
with the brand.

UX/UI Design Theories and Best Practices

User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design are essential components of
creating effective, engaging, and user-friendly digital products. While UX focuses on
the overall experience a user has with a product, UI focuses on the interface's visual
elements and interactions. Both fields are critical to ensure users have an intuitive,
pleasant, and efficient experience.

• UX Design Theories

Human-Centered Design (HCD): This approach involves designing

with a deep understanding of the users' needs, behaviors, and limitations.

42
The design process involves empathy for the user, ensuring that the
product is intuitive, accessible, and valuable.

The Fogg Behavior Model: This model focuses on three key elements
that influence user behavior: motivation, ability, and triggers. For
successful UX design, users must be motivated, capable of performing
the task, and provided with clear triggers to act.

Mental Models: Mental models are users' preconceived notions about

how things work based on their prior experiences. UX design should
align with these mental models to avoid confusion and enhance
usability.

The 5-Stage UX Design Process: This process involves five stages—

Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—ensuring that designs
are constantly tested and iterated to meet user needs effectively.

• UI Design Theories

Consistency: Consistency in UI elements (buttons, colors, fonts, etc.)

makes the interface more predictable and easier for users to navigate.
Consistent design patterns build familiarity, reducing cognitive load.

Visual Hierarchy: Visual hierarchy refers to arranging elements in a

way that guides the user's attention, emphasizing the most important
information first. This can be achieved through size, color, contrast, and
positioning.

Affordance: UI elements should have clear affordances—visual cues

that suggest how they can be interacted with (e.g., buttons look
clickable, sliders look draggable). This helps users intuitively
understand how to interact with the interface.

43
Feedback: Immediate, clear feedback for user actions (such as button
presses or form submissions) reassures users that the system is
responding to their input and guides them through the process.

• Best Practices for UX/UI Design

User Research: Conduct thorough research (surveys, interviews,

testing) to understand the target audience and their needs, preferences,
and pain points.

Responsive Design: Ensure that the product works seamlessly across

various devices and screen sizes, prioritizing mobile-first design.

Simplicity: Keep the design clean and uncluttered, focusing on core

functionality. Avoid overloading the user with too much information or
too many options.

Intuitive Navigation: Use clear, well-organized menus and intuitive

navigation paths to help users find what they need with minimal effort.

Quick Load Times: Optimize page load times to ensure that users don’t
become frustrated and leave the site. Fast load times are critical for a
positive UX.

Accessibility: Design with accessibility in mind to ensure the interface

is usable by people with disabilities. This includes providing text
alternatives for images, ensuring contrast for readability, and making the
site navigable with keyboards or screen readers.

Testing and Iteration: Continuously test the design with real users and
iterate based on their feedback. This ensures the design meets user needs
and improves over time.

44
Responsive Design and Mobile Optimization

Responsive design is a web design approach aimed at creating a seamless user

experience across a wide range of devices, from desktop computers to smartphones and
tablets. The primary goal is to ensure that the website adjusts and displays correctly on
any device, regardless of screen size or resolution. Responsive design uses flexible grid
layouts, scalable images, and CSS media queries to adapt the layout to different screen
sizes.

Features of Responsive Design:

• Fluid Grid Layouts: The content layout is based on percentages rather than
fixed pixel sizes. This allows elements to resize and adjust according to the
screen dimensions.

• Flexible Images: Images scale according to the size of the screen, ensuring they
don’t overflow or become distorted, regardless of the device being used.

• CSS Media Queries: These are used to apply different styles based on device
characteristics such as width, height, orientation, and resolution. Media queries
help tailor the design to various screen sizes, ensuring that the content is
displayed optimally.

Mobile optimization focuses on enhancing the user experience specifically for mobile
devices, where screen sizes are smaller, and users tend to interact differently than on
desktops. Mobile optimization is crucial as mobile traffic accounts for a significant
portion of web traffic.

45
Elements of Mobile Optimization:

• Touchscreen-Friendly Design: Mobile interfaces need to accommodate touch

interactions. Buttons, links, and form fields should be large enough and well-
spaced to make tapping easy and intuitive.

• Quick Load Times: Mobile users are often on the go and have less patience for
slow-loading sites. Mobile-optimized websites are designed to load quickly,
minimizing bounce rates. Techniques such as image compression and lazy
loading are used to speed up load times.

• Simplified Navigation: Mobile screens have limited space, so navigation

menus should be concise and easy to use. Mobile websites often employ
hamburger menus or collapsible navigation to keep the interface clean and user-
friendly.

• Content Prioritization: On mobile devices, content must be prioritized for

smaller screens. Less essential information may be hidden or presented in a
collapsible format, ensuring users can easily access the most important content.

• Mobile-Specific Features: Integrating mobile-specific features such as click-

to-call buttons, location-based services, or simplified checkout processes helps
provide a more native mobile experience.

46
The Role of Accessibility in E-commerce

Accessibility in e-commerce refers to designing websites, applications, and online

platforms in a way that they are usable by all people, including those with disabilities.
Ensuring accessibility in e-commerce is crucial not only for inclusivity but also for
improving user experience and expanding the potential customer base.

Importance of Accessibility in E-Commerce:

• Wider Audience Reach: By making websites accessible, e-commerce

businesses can reach a larger audience, including individuals with disabilities
who may face challenges in navigating inaccessible websites. This inclusivity
opens up opportunities for businesses to engage with a diverse group of
customers and expand their market reach.

• Compliance with Legal Requirements: Many countries have regulations that

mandate accessibility for online platforms, such as the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) in the United States or the Equality Act in the UK.
Ensuring your e-commerce site is accessible can help businesses avoid legal
issues and potential lawsuits.

• Improved User Experience: Accessibility features, such as clear navigation,

alternative text for images, and proper contrast, enhance the overall user
experience for everyone, not just individuals with disabilities. Websites that are
easy to use and navigate are likely to retain customers and reduce bounce rates.

• Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Accessibility features like proper use of

headings, alt text for images, and semantic HTML can improve a website’s
SEO. Search engines favor accessible sites because they are often better
organized, with clear content hierarchy and relevant tags, making it easier for
them to crawl and rank.

47
• Brand Reputation and Trust: Demonstrating a commitment to accessibility
can positively impact a brand's reputation. Customers appreciate companies that
prioritize inclusivity, which can lead to increased customer loyalty and trust. A
brand seen as socially responsible can build stronger emotional connections
with its audience.

Accessibility Features for E-Commerce:

• Keyboard Navigation: Ensuring that the website can be navigated using a

keyboard alone is essential for users with mobility impairments who may not
be able to use a mouse.

• Screen Reader Compatibility: Websites should be compatible with screen

readers that read out the content for visually impaired users. Proper use of alt
text, headers, and labels is necessary for this functionality.

• Alt Text for Images: Providing descriptive alt text for images ensures that
visually impaired users, using screen readers, can understand the content and
context of images, such as product photos.

• Color Contrast and Text Size: High contrast between text and background,
along with options to adjust text size, improves readability for users with visual
impairments.

• Accessible Forms and Checkout Process: Making sure that forms and
checkout pages are easy to fill out and accessible to users with disabilities is
crucial for conversion rates. This includes clear labels, instructions, and error
messages.

• Captions and Records for Media: Providing captions for videos and
transcripts for audio content ensures that users who are deaf or hard of hearing
can access all content.

48
E-Commerce Functionalities and Platform Integration

E-commerce functionalities are the core features that allow online stores to operate
efficiently, manage products, facilitate smooth customer interactions, and handle
transactions. Platform integration involves connecting an e-commerce site with other
tools and platforms to expand capabilities, streamline processes, and enhance the
customer experience.

E-Commerce Functionalities such as:

• Product Catalog Management: An organized catalog allows businesses to

display products with detailed descriptions, images, prices, and attributes,
making it easy for customers to browse, filter, and select items. It is essential
for keeping information accurate and up to date across the store.

• Shopping Cart and Checkout System: This functionality enables customers

to add products to a virtual cart and proceed to checkout. A well-designed cart
shows itemized details and enables customers to update quantities, remove
items, and proceed to payment. Checkout should be streamlined and offer guest
checkout options to prevent cart abandonment.

• Payment Gateway Integration: Integrating secure payment gateways like

PayPal, Stripe, or Razorpay allows customers to pay via credit/debit cards, bank
transfers, or digital wallets. This is essential for transaction security and builds
trust.

• Inventory Management: Real-time inventory management tracks stock levels

and alerts businesses of low stock, ensuring that products are always available
and preventing overselling. This feature integrates with warehouse systems and
provides insights into stock movement.

49
• Customer Accounts and Order Tracking: Allowing customers to create
accounts lets them save personal information for faster checkouts, view order
history, and track shipments. Order tracking provides customers with updates
on their purchases, enhancing transparency and satisfaction.

• Shipping and Logistics Integration: Integrating with shipping providers like

Shiprocket or FedEx enables e-commerce businesses to calculate shipping rates,
automate order fulfillment, and provide tracking. It also simplifies logistics
management and offers different delivery options.

• SEO and Marketing Tools: Features like SEO optimization, email marketing,
and discount codes enable stores to attract and retain customers. E-commerce
platforms often integrate with tools like Google Analytics, Yoast SEO, or
marketing automation platforms to drive targeted campaigns and improve
visibility.

• Customer Support: Features like live chat, FAQ sections, and feedback forms
help customers. Chatbots can also enhance support by answering common
queries instantly.

Amazon, eBay, Flipkart, and Myntra can increase reach by allowing businesses
to list products on these platforms. This integration expands audience reach and
leverages established platforms for greater sales potential.

• Content Management Systems (CMS): Platforms like WordPress with

WooCommerce can be integrated for content-rich e-commerce sites, enabling
businesses to add blogs, articles, or tutorials that support SEO and enhance user
engagement.

50
• Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems: CRMs like
Salesforce or HubSpot help manage customer data, segment audiences, and
personalize interactions. CRM integration can improve customer engagement,
retention, and satisfaction.

• Email Marketing Platforms: Email marketing integration with tools like

Mailchimp or Klaviyo allows businesses to send automated emails, such as
order confirmations, abandoned cart reminders, and promotions, enhancing
customer communication and loyalty.

• Accounting and ERP Systems: Integrating e-commerce with accounting (e.g.,

QuickBooks) and ERP systems streamlines financial management and order
processing. This helps synchronize sales, inventory, and customer data across
departments for efficient operations.

• Social Media Integration: Connecting e-commerce sites to social platforms

like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest allows businesses to market products
and even sell directly on social media. Social media integration enables
shoppable posts and increases brand visibility.

• Analytics and Reporting Tools: Integrations with Google Analytics and

similar platforms offer valuable insights into customer behavior, sales trends,
and website performance. This data helps businesses make informed decisions
to improve the customer experience and drive growth.

51

mobile, etc.) is increasingly important. Brands focus on providing a seamless
experience where customers can move between channels effortlessly, such as
by offering in-store pickup for online orders.

55
The Importance of Personalization in E-commerce

Personalization in e-commerce is the practice of tailoring the shopping experience to

each customer’s unique preferences, behaviors, and needs. It has become a critical
strategy for businesses seeking to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and
conversion rates.

Benefits of Personalization in E-Commerce:

• Improved Customer Experience: By personalizing recommendations,

content, and offers, e-commerce sites create a more relevant and engaging
experience. Shoppers are more likely to find products that match their tastes,
making the process quicker and more enjoyable.

• Increased Conversion Rates: Personalization can significantly boost

conversion rates. When customers see products aligned with their preferences,
they are more likely to make purchases. Custom product recommendations, for
example, often lead to higher sales.

• Enhanced Customer Loyalty and Retention: Personalization helps brands

build relationships with customers, as it shows that the brand understands their
needs. This can lead to increased loyalty and repeat purchases, reducing churn
and increasing customer lifetime value.

• Data-Driven Insights: Personalization uses customer data to better understand

preferences and behaviors. This data can be leveraged to optimize marketing
strategies, improve product offerings, and identify market trends.

• Competitive Advantage: In a crowded market, personalization allows brands

to stand out. Customers are more likely to choose and stay loyal to brands that
provide a tailored experience, giving companies a unique edge.

56
Conclusion and Gaps in Literature

Summary of Key Insights

sustainable brands, there is limited research on how e-commerce platforms can
integrate sustainable practices effectively without compromising on efficiency
or profitability.

• Impact of Voice Commerce: While voice commerce is growing, more research

is needed to understand how voice search and voice-activated shopping impact
consumer decision-making, especially as it relates to brand discovery and
loyalty.

Customer-Centric Websites: The growing need for websites to be responsive,

fast-loading, and easy to navigate to retain customers.

• Competitor Analysis

A key part of the secondary data collection was a competitive analysis of

Tangibles' major competitors in the apparel and digital retail space, including
brands like *The Souled Store, **Bewakoof, and **Snitch*. Competitor
websites were reviewed for their design, usability, product offerings, and digital
marketing tactics. This analysis allowed the identification of successful
strategies and areas where Tangibles could differentiate itself.

Key aspects of the competitor analysis:

63
Website and Mobile Optimization: How competitors have optimized their
websites for both desktop and mobile users.

Personalization: The extent to which competitors offer personalized

experiences, such as product recommendations and customized apparel options.

E-commerce Functionalities: The payment gateways, logistics solutions, and

overall ease of shopping that competitors provide.

SEO and SEM Strategies: How competitors rank for critical keywords, the
effectiveness of their paid campaigns, and their visibility on digital platforms.

• Case Studies and White Papers

Numerous case studies and white papers from digital marketing experts, e-
commerce consultants, and platform providers like Shopify and WooCommerce
were analyzed. These case studies focused on the digital transformation of small
and medium apparel brands, particularly those focusing on personalized
products and streetwear. They provided real-world examples of best practices
in website development, customer acquisition, and retention strategies.

64
Methodology

The research methodology used a mix of quantitative and qualitative approaches to

capture a holistic view of the effectiveness of digital marketing and user experience
strategies.

• Universe/Population

Consumer Population: The target consumer population included both B2C

(individual buyers aged 12-40 within India) and B2B customers (corporate clients
requiring bulk or customized apparel orders).

Competitor Population: Competitors in the apparel industry, such as The Souled

Store and Bewakoof, which have demonstrated success with similar target
audiences and digital marketing strategies.

• Sample & Sampling Units

Sampling Units: B2C sample units were individual consumers interested in

online shopping and personalized apparel. B2B sample units included corporate
clients looking for bulk, customized orders for employee branding
.
Sampling Frame: The sampling frame was created based on Tangibles' customer
database, social media followers, and visitor metrics on the website.

• Sample Size
Surveys: A sample size of 300 respondents (B2C consumers) participated in
surveys.

Interviews: A total of 15 interviews were conducted with Tangibles’ team members,

digital marketing experts, and website developers.

65
Competitor Observations: Observational data was gathered from at least 5
competitor websites, which were benchmarked for best practices.

• Sampling Technique

stratified random sampling approach was employed, ensuring a balanced

representation across different consumer segments (age, device preference, etc.)
and company stakeholders. This method helped ensure that critical segments within
the population were adequately represented, allowing for more targeted analysis.

• Tools Used for Data Analysis

SPSS and Excel: For quantitative analysis, data from surveys was processed using
statistical software. Tools like pivot tables, graphs, and charts aided in
understanding consumer behaviour patterns.

SEO and Analytical Tools: Google Analytics and Yoast SEO were used to
measure website performance, visitor traffic, and content effectiveness.

Sentiment Analysis: Text analytics were performed on qualitative feedback from

customers to gauge sentiment, helping to identify areas where digital experience
and content could be optimized.

Benchmarking Tools: SEMrush and Ahrefs provided competitor insights,

enabling comparison in terms of traffic, keyword rankings, and digital reach.

66
Data Collection Process

The data collection process occurred in four main phases:

• Consumer Surveys: Surveys were conducted online, capturing data from users
who had interacted with the Tangibles brand through social media or direct
outreach. This allowed for data collection on consumer preferences and their
response to website functionality and digital content.

• Stakeholder Interviews: One-on-one interviews were conducted with key

employees and developers to gain insight into the strategic decisions and challenges
faced while implementing customer-centric digital strategies.

• Secondary Data Review: Industry reports and competitor case studies were
reviewed to gather insights into best practices in digital marketing, website
optimization, and customer engagement.

• Tool-Based Data Analysis: Using analytics tools, quantitative data from the
website and digital platforms were analysed to understand traffic patterns, SEO
performance, and user behaviour.

CHAPTER 6
Data Analysis & Interpretation

71
DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

Data analysis and interpretation are crucial in converting raw data into meaningful
insights that inform decision-making. This chapter outlines the methods used to
analyze the collected data from the primary and secondary sources, and how the
findings are interpreted to understand the effectiveness of Tangibles' digital marketing
strategies, website design, and e-commerce functionalities. The process involves
examining the survey results, interview transcripts, and secondary data from industry
reports and competitor analysis.

Descriptive Analysis

Descriptive analysis involves summarizing and categorizing the data to provide an

overview of the key trends and patterns. It helps to understand the demographic
distribution of survey respondents, the frequency of behaviors, and the general
opinions expressed.

72
Survey Data Overview

The first step in the analysis was to categorize the survey responses based on various
demographic and behavioral factors. This analysis was done to gauge the profile of
the respondents and their alignment with Tangibles’ target audience.

Demographics: The survey responses were segmented by age, gender, and region.
This helped identify the predominant customer segments for Tangibles. A majority of
the respondents were within the age group of 18-30 years (60%), followed by 31-40
years (25%), with the rest falling in the 12-17 and 40+ categories.

Website Experience: When asked about their overall experience with the website,
75% of respondents rated it as "Excellent" or "Good," while 15% rated it "Average"
and 10% rated it "Poor." The survey also asked specific questions about website
features, such as ease of navigation, design aesthetics, and mobile optimization. The
majority (82%) found the design user-friendly, but 30% of mobile users reported issues
with site speed.

73
SEO and Content Evaluation: Regarding SEO effectiveness, 70% of respondents
were able to find Tangibles’ website easily via search engines, while the remaining
30% struggled due to unclear or generic search terms. Content clarity and relevance
received high marks, with 85% of users finding the product descriptions and images
informative.

Personalization Features: 65% of respondents mentioned they appreciated

personalized product recommendations based on previous purchases, whereas 35% felt
it could be improved.

Competitor Comparison

Secondary data analysis included a comparative review of Tangibles’ website and

digital marketing performance against competitors such as The Souled Store,
Bewakoof, and Snitch. The analysis primarily focused on:

Website Design and User Experience: Competitors also emphasize minimalistic

design with modern aesthetics. However, Tangibles’ unique selling proposition lies in
its streetwear and personalized offerings, which was not fully capitalized by some
competitors.

SEO and SEM Strategies: While competitors have well-established SEO practices,
Tangibles was still in the process of improving its ranking. SEO analysis revealed that
competitor websites had higher domain authority and more backlinks, which
contributed to their higher organic traffic.

Mobile Optimization: Mobile responsiveness was a key feature across all competitors.
However, Tangibles lagged in terms of load times and mobile navigation, which could
be optimized further.

74
Inferential Analysis

Inferential analysis allows us to make inferences or generalizations from the data

collected. Using statistical methods, this analysis examines relationships between
different variables and their impact on Tangibles' digital marketing strategy.

Correlation Analysis

The correlation analysis explored the relationship between customer satisfaction,

website usability, and purchase intent. A *Pearson Correlation Test* was conducted to
identify any statistically significant relationships between these variables.

Key findings:

Website Usability and Satisfaction: A strong positive correlation (r = 0.76) was found
between the ease of navigation on the website and customer satisfaction. This suggests
that customers who found the website easy to navigate were more likely to be satisfied
with their overall experience.

SEO and Traffic: There was a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.64) between SEO
ranking and website traffic. Higher rankings on search engines led to increased traffic,
indicating the importance of SEO optimization for Tangibles.

Personalization and Purchase Intent: A weaker correlation (r = 0.52) was found

between personalized product recommendations and increased purchase intent. While
personalization positively influenced customer behavior, its effect on actual purchases
was not as strong as website usability or SEO.

75
Regression Analysis

A linear regression model was used to determine the impact of various factors (website
usability, SEO, personalization, mobile optimization) on the overall customer
satisfaction and likelihood of returning to the website.

Findings from the regression analysis:

Mobile Optimization: Mobile optimization was found to have the highest beta value
(0.32), indicating that improvements in mobile responsiveness would have the most
significant impact on customer satisfaction and retention.

SEO: SEO was a close second in importance (0.28), highlighting its role in driving
traffic to the website.

Personalization: Although important, personalization had a lower impact on overall

satisfaction (0.14). This suggests that while customers appreciate personalization, other
factors like website usability and mobile optimization are more critical.

Qualitative Analysis (Interviews)

The qualitative analysis focused on interpreting the responses from the interviews with
Tangibles’ key stakeholders. The aim was to understand the motivations behind digital
marketing decisions, website development strategies, and the company’s focus on
customer-centricity.

Key Themes Identified:

Focus on User Experience: The management team emphasized the importance of

creating a user-friendly website that caters to the needs of both B2B and B2C

76
customers. They noted that this was a priority to improve engagement and drive
conversions.

Personalization as a Competitive Edge: Stakeholders highlighted the role of

personalization in differentiating Tangibles from its competitors. The team was
committed to integrating personalized recommendations and tailoring the website
experience to the individual user.

SEO and SEM Efforts: The marketing team acknowledged the need for continuous
improvement in SEO and SEM strategies. They emphasized that they were working on
building backlinks, optimizing content, and exploring paid advertising options to
increase visibility.

Challenges in Mobile Optimization: While mobile optimization was a priority, it was

also recognized as an area for improvement. The team planned to address site speed
and navigation issues in the upcoming phases of development.

Insights from Secondary Data

Secondary data gathered from industry reports and competitor analysis also provided
valuable insights:

Trends in E-commerce: According to industry reports, mobile shopping is on the rise,

and a seamless mobile experience is critical for retaining customers. This aligns with
the survey findings, where mobile optimization was identified as a key area for
improvement.

Competitor Strategies: Competitors’ focus on affordable pricing, high-quality

products, and strong social media engagement has helped them build brand loyalty.
Tangibles can leverage these strategies while differentiating itself through personalized
experiences and premium streetwear offerings.

77
Interpretation of Results

The analysis indicates that Tangibles is on the right path with its digital marketing
strategies and website development. However, several areas require attention:

Mobile Optimization: This remains a major challenge and needs to be prioritized to

ensure a smooth experience for users.

SEO and Content Strategy: There is room for improvement in SEO to increase
organic visibility and traffic. Tangibles should invest in content marketing, such as
blogs, social media, and video content, to enhance its SEO efforts.

Personalization: While personalization is appreciated by customers, its direct impact

on purchase behavior is moderate. Enhancing personalized product recommendations
and aligning them with customer preferences could lead to better results.

78
CHAPTER 7
Results and Learning Outcomes

79
RESULTS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Findings and Conclusion of the Study

The primary objective of the internship was to contribute to the development of a

customer-centric website for Tangibles, incorporating essential e-commerce
functionalities, SEO, and SEM strategies to enhance its digital presence and user
engagement.

The key findings of the study can be summarized as follows:

Website Optimization and User Experience: The website developed during the
internship successfully aligned with Tangibles' goal of prioritizing customer needs and
providing a user-friendly experience. The integration of responsive design made the
website accessible across different devices, especially mobile platforms. This
significantly improved user engagement, with an overall increase in customer
satisfaction and retention rates.

SEO and SEM Impact: SEO efforts made a measurable difference in the website’s
visibility. After implementing basic SEO best practices (such as optimizing meta tags,
keywords, and content structure), there was a noticeable improvement in organic search
results. SEM campaigns also helped generate initial traffic, but further refinement of
paid search strategies is necessary for optimizing the ROI of paid campaigns.

Personalization: Personalization features, such as recommending products based on

past behavior, positively influenced customer engagement. However, the direct impact
of personalization on purchase decisions was moderate, indicating that more advanced
personalization techniques, such as personalized promotions and targeted email
campaigns, could further enhance customer conversion.

80
Competitive Analysis: In comparison to competitors like The Souled Store and
Bewakoof, Tangibles has a strong positioning in terms of unique product offerings
(personalized apparel and streetwear). However, it lags behind in terms of SEO
rankings and mobile optimization, which are areas that need focused attention.

Challenges in Mobile Optimization: Despite the website being responsive, mobile

users reported issues with site speed and navigation. This is a critical area for
improvement, as mobile shopping is increasingly becoming a dominant channel for
consumers.

Improvement in Customer Acquisition: The internship contributed significantly to

Tangibles’ goals of improving customer acquisition and retention, especially through
better website design, SEO, and SEM strategies.

Internship Outcomes

development, the overall goals set at the beginning of the internship were successfully
met.

Skills Were Learned During the Internship

During the internship at Tangibles, I developed and honed several key skills:

Web Development & Design: I gained hands-on experience in website development,

learning how to create a responsive, user-friendly website. I also enhanced my skills in
UX/UI design principles, ensuring the site was easy to navigate and visually appealing.

SEO & SEM: I developed a deeper understanding of search engine optimization

(SEO), including keyword optimization, on-page SEO, and backlinking. Additionally,
I learned about Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and how to run paid campaigns to
drive traffic.

Customer-Centric Strategies: I learned the importance of personalizing the customer

experience, including product recommendations and tailored content, to improve
engagement and conversion rates.

Analytical Skills: I improved my ability to analyze web traffic and interpret data to
assess the effectiveness of SEO and SEM strategies.

Team Collaboration: Working with various departments helped me enhance my

communication and collaboration skills, particularly in cross-functional settings.

82
BBA Curriculum Prepare for the Internship

The BBA curriculum provided me with a solid foundation in key business concepts
such as marketing, customer behavior, digital strategies, and data analysis.

Specifically:

Digital Marketing: The theoretical knowledge from courses on digital marketing gave
me the confidence to apply SEO, SEM, and website optimization strategies in a real-
world setting.

Consumer Behavior: The courses in consumer behavior and marketing helped me

understand how consumers make purchasing decisions, what influences their choices,
and the importance of creating personalized experiences. This knowledge was crucial
when developing a customer-centric website, ensuring it aligned with consumer
expectations and provided a seamless user experience.

Data Analysis: Courses on statistics and business analytics helped me approach data
analysis with a structured mindset, which was critical in assessing the performance of
the website and digital campaigns.

Project Management: Knowledge from project management courses allowed me to

handle the project efficiently, meet deadlines, and manage resources effectively.

Challenges Experience During the Internship

Despite the positive outcomes, several challenges were encountered during the
internship:

Mobile Optimization Issues: While working on the website, ensuring seamless

performance across mobile platforms proved to be challenging due to speed and
navigation issues.

83
Time Constraints: The limited duration of the internship meant there was not enough
time to fully implement advanced SEM strategies or extensively optimize all aspects of
the SEO.

Learning Curve: While I had prior knowledge of SEO, implementing it practically on

a live website, especially optimizing content and page structures, was a challenging yet
rewarding learning experience.

Coordination with External Tools: Integrating payment gateways and logistics

solutions (Razorpay and Shiprocket) required technical expertise and coordination
between different software, which was challenging but eventually successful.

Overall Evaluation of the Internship Experience

The internship at Tangibles was highly valuable, offering hands-on experience in digital
marketing, web development, and e-commerce. It provided me with an in-depth
understanding of the intricacies involved in optimizing a website for both SEO and
SEM, as well as enhancing the customer experience through personalization. Although
there were challenges, the opportunity to work on a live project and contribute to
Tangibles' digital growth was a rewarding experience that significantly contributed to
my professional development.

Limitations

Despite the positive outcomes of the internship, there were some limitations:

Limited Time Frame: The internship duration was limited, which restricted the ability
to implement more comprehensive changes and test long-term impacts of the strategies
implemented.

84
Technical Constraints: Some limitations arose due to technical challenges, such as
integrating external payment gateways and logistics solutions, which required
coordination with third-party vendors.

Resource Constraints: Given the small team at Tangibles, there were limitations in
resources and capacity to run multiple parallel campaigns or implement more advanced
strategies during the internship period.

In conclusion, the internship at Tangibles was an enriching experience that provided

valuable insights into the digital marketing, website optimization, and e-commerce
strategies of a growing company. The findings from the data analysis, combined with
the practical experience gained, have contributed to a deeper understanding of digital
marketing in e-commerce. The skills learned and challenges faced during the internship
will undoubtedly shape my future career in digital marketing and business strategy.
