1.
Critical Analysis

Eaxample:

A. Critical Analysis (This refers to your careful examination and evaluation of a text, image,
articles or other work or performance. This does not necessarily involve finding fault with a work. This may help
us understand the interaction of the particular elements that contribute to a work's power, contribution and
effectiveness).
Education is the process of learning and teaching primarily the young, the knowledge and skills
necessary for adult life. (Hicks, 2014) The statement made by Hicks was really accurate and precise.
And as Hicks brainstormed throughout the discussion, he’d come up with education’s integral part
such

as knowledge, skills, student and teacher.

I totally agree with his assertions about the philosophy of education and the education itself.
Truly, human can devote process of education in a length of time. One can learn systematically, thus,
phase by phase through the students’ developmental stages. Students’ puberty is also part of learning
process.

If an educator practices philosophical questions such as metaphysics “what’s real?”,

epistemological “how do I know?” , human being “who am I”?, ethics, “so what?”. Therefore I believe,
he/she will determine what were the effective strategies that will implement for the students.
Philosophy influences our thinking and provides meaningful and purposeful aspects in life. So if
an institution put that to the learners’ education, individuals will grow abundantly and society will tend
to prosper. Philosophy serves as a guide for a better quality of educational process. Education that is,
a growth, a development of every individ ual, the improvement of every society, at the same time,
philosophies serves a guide to education to improve educational learning process, achieve educational
goals and attain to have ideal citizens and better community. That’s why I do believe in education and
importance of it relies on educator’s philosophical tenets and its
basis.

Traditional philosophy and contemporary philosophy are both have advantages in terms of
educating the individuals. With that said, traditional philosophy focuses on absolute va lues and
cultural heritage. This is important because as I said earlier, every decision will rely or base on what
was in the past. On the other hand, contemporary philosophy focuses on changeable and relativity.
This is also
significant because how one can develop or improve if he or she did not pursue
change?

Furthermore, I analyze that philosophical basis for curriculum decisions are very crucial. In terms
of deciding what curriculum should implement in schools. Philosophy as the basis of foundation

B. PLAN OF ACTION (This will involve your organized program of measures to be taken in order to achieve
your goal as a teacher connecting it to the topic/image/person/etc presented).

Example:
My plan is to take deep grasp and read more about philosophies of education and its
philosophical basis, for me to better understand the educational philosophies and what underpinned
them. Having deep appreciation towards philosophies of education will boost my interest to dive into it
more. I would surel y apply what I have learned from module 1 soon as I become an aspiring educator.
Finally, I will put into action.

The philosophy of education provides a foundation for curriculum decisions by offering a framework to determine the most effective strategies for learners. Traditional philosophy emphasizes absolute values and cultural heritage, serving as a basis for decisions grounded in past practices, while contemporary philosophy focuses on change and relativity, encouraging development and improvement by embracing change . Philosophical ideas help educators understand the purposes of education and evaluate which methodologies will best achieve educational goals .

Integrating both traditional and contemporary philosophies in curriculum planning offers several advantages and challenges. Traditional philosophies focus on absolute values and cultural heritage, providing stability and preservation of proven practices . This can ensure continuity and respect for historical knowledge, helping students understand foundational societal values. Conversely, contemporary philosophies emphasize adaptability and relativity, promoting innovation and responsiveness to change, which can enhance students' ability to navigate modern complexities . Challenges include potential conflicts between static values of tradition and dynamic approaches of contemporary thought, requiring careful balancing to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and effective for diverse learner needs without becoming contradictory or unfocused.

Philosophical analysis in education aids in understanding educational strategies by prompting educators to question and assess the fundamental principles of their teaching approaches. Through questions in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and human nature, educators can identify effective strategies that align with a comprehensive educational philosophy. This analysis encourages phase-by-phase systematic learning while accommodating students' developmental stages . It helps in determining what should be taught and how, ensuring philosophical tenets are integrated into educational practices to improve outcomes for students and society .

The educational philosophies of the Department of Education emphasize that educators play a crucial role in fostering a learner-centered environment where students’ rights to quality education are protected and promoted . Philosophical inquiry can enrich the developmental stages of students by nurturing critical thinking, self-awareness, and ethical reasoning. It engages students in fundamental questions about reality, knowledge, and values which align with their cognitive and emotional growth . By questioning identity, learning processes, and ethical implications, students learn to analyze and synthesize information, fostering intellectual maturity as they progress through developmental stages. This method supports a phase-by-phase educational approach, enriching students' understanding of themselves and their environment, improving their problem-solving skills, and preparing them for adult life .

The sources suggest that educators should deeply study and appreciate educational philosophies to better understand their underpinning principles.
