Turbocharger System Simulation Guide

The document outlines the functioning of a turbocharger, detailing how exhaust gases spin a turbine that compresses air, enhancing engine power and efficiency. It highlights the benefits of turbos, including increased power, fuel efficiency, and compact design, as well as their varying performance characteristics. Additionally, it mentions the process of designing and selecting turbochargers, including calculations and sketches.

TURBO

• Exhaust gases leave the engine and spin the turbine wheel.
• The turbine spins a connected compressor wheel.
• The compressor sucks in and compresses air.
• The compressed air passes through an intercooler to cool down.
• The cooled, dense air enters the engine, allowing more fuel to burn.
• The engine produces more power and efficiency using the same
exhaust energy.
ADJECTIVES

• Power Boost: The turbo makes the engine more powerful by forcing extra air into it.
• Efficiency: It helps the engine use fuel more efficiently, giving more power with less fuel.
• Design: Turbos are usually compact, advanced, and reliable, fitting easily into engines.
• Performance Feel: Some are responsive and smooth, giving steady power, while others
feel aggressive or noisy, creating a sportier experience.
PROCESS

• Spreadsheet for the turbo and turbo wheels .

• How the turbo wheels work and when it does spin .
• The main calculations for turbocharger design or selection .
• Doing sketch for the turbo .
