It is with immense pleasure that I extend my heartfelt greetings to all the
participants and organizers of the Two-Day International Conference on “The
Digital Divide: Language, Literature, and Translation,” hosted by the Kalaignar
Karunanidhi Government Arts College for Women, Pudukkottai. This timely and
relevant conference reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering academic
excellence and addressing critical issues in education, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
The digital divide continues to challenge equitable access to education, cultural
preservation, and literary expression. Focusing on digital storytelling, regional
narratives, and translation technologies, this conference provides a platform for
scholars and educators to explore innovative solutions to bridge these divides
while preserving linguistic and cultural diversity.
With its rich cultural and linguistic heritage, Tamil Nadu stands at the crossroads
of tradition and modernity. The discussions at this conference are especially
pertinent as they address how technology can be harnessed to promote
inclusivity and preserve regional identities. It also offers an opportunity to rethink
how we teach and learn language and literature in a digitally integrated world.
I applaud the efforts of the PG and Research Department of English and the
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in bringing together scholars and
practitioners from diverse fields to engage in this crucial dialogue. The insights
gained from this event will undoubtedly contribute to shaping the future of
language, literature, and translation studies in Tamil Nadu and beyond.
As we embark on this intellectual journey, I wish the conference success and
hope it catalyzes meaningful discussions and transformative ideas. Best wishes
for your future endeavors in advancing academic excellence and community
engagement.
Warm regards,
Justin James
