Introduction
Musical instruments emerged with the appearance of the
man, from then on they used tools and among them
instruments to reproduce sounds of nature.

Among the musical instruments are those of

woodwind, brass, string and percussion.
String Instrument
String instruments or chordophones areinstruments
musicalsthat produce sounds through vibrations of
one or morestrings, usually amplified by means of
oneresonance boxThese strings are tensioned between two
points of the instrument are sounded by pressing, rubbing or
striking the string.

In theorchestraclassical, the term 'strings' refers to the set of

stringed instruments played with a bow formed by the groups of violins
(usually divided into first and second violins), violas,
cellos and double basses. The same happens with the orchestra of
strings, which is made up of the same instruments. Of
a similar form is referred to as a trio, quartet, or quintet of strings,
when it comes to groups of violin, viola, and cello; 2
violins, viola and cello; or 2 violins, viola, cello and
double bass respectively. In a classical orchestra, the
string instruments are placed in the first position in the area
closest to the director followed by the wind instruments and
finally percussion.

String instrument division

String instruments or bow instruments

They belong to the groupbowed string instruments or of

archthose whose sound is produced by a bow

(generally with the bow made of wood, which is the area of
subjection, and a set of bristles tightened due to that
they are attached to both ends of the arch and with which they are rubbed
strings, although there is also a technique of "pinching" the

2. With contrast:viol da gambayhardship.

The sanfoña is not a string instrument, as although in

the strings are made to sound by rubbing, this is not done
with a bow, but with a wheel.

Instrumentos de cuerda pulsada

The plucked string instruments are those

string instruments on which the string vibrates after being plucked
or dotted by the fingers, producing the sound. In addition to the
fingers, a pick can also be used.

Examples of plucked string instruments:

Without a mast but with a keyboard:harpsichord, spineyvirginal.
With mast and withoutfrets: Arab lute, good, three-string guitar

bridges, Portuguese guitar, bass without frets, barkysteel

With mast y with

Struck or hit string instruments

Thestruck or beaten string instrumentsare from
strings that are struck or percussed (generally with some
small hammers).

They can be from a box to achieve sound amplitude, or

without this, like thecymbals with malletsor thekayagum.

Wind instrument
Wind instruments or aerophones are a family of
musical instruments that produce sound by vibration
of the wind and the mass of air inside it, without the need for
strings or membranes because it only requires the use of the wind.

Description

Wind instruments are those that contain a

gaseous volume (generally air) capable of producing sound when
to be conveniently expelled1.

Classification

Wind instruments can be classified into two

categories. These categories are divided according to how they
ring the bell:

[Link] instrumentsThe bell is usually loud, bright and

with a metallic sound. The sound in these instruments is
produced by the vibration of the lips in
onenozzlemetallic in the shape of a cup, that produces the
acoustic frequency.

[Link] instruments. The timbre of these instruments is

smoother and more melodious than that of metals. The sound is
produced by blowing over a hole (beveled mouth) or
making a double or single reed cane vibrate.

Formal classification of wind instruments

The wind instruments or sounding tubes can

classify based on four distinct criteria:

The tubes can be conical, cylindrical, or prismatic:

Conical:saxophone, fagot, fliscorno, tuba, oboe...

Cylindrical:transverse flute, clarinet...

Binoculars: primitive instruments and sometubes of

organ.

According to the mode of excitation of the air columnedit]

The tubes are classified into mouthpieces, tongue tubes

(simple or double) and of nozzle:

Transverse flute.

Tongue

Bat

Simple:clarinet, saxophone, organ pipes.

Doubleoboe, fagot.

Nozzle:trumpet, trumpet, trombone, tuba...

Instrument of
percussion
A percussion instrument is a type ofinstrument
musicalwhosesoundit originates when hit or shaken. It is, perhaps,
the oldest form of musical instrument.

Percussion is distinguished by the variety ofstampswhat is

able to produce and for its ease of adaptation to others
musical instruments. It is worth noting that it can be obtained a
wide variety of sounds depending on the sticks or mallets used
to strike some of the percussion instruments.

A percussion instrument can be used to create

patrones de ritmos (battery, drumamong others) or for

The most famous percussion instruments are the drum and the battery.

Classification

Percussion instruments can be classified into two

categories according to the definition:

From defined height the what

they producenotesidentifiables. That is to say, those
whosealtura ofsoundis determined.
Some are: thetimbale, the vibraphone, the bell, the bell
tubular, the metal drums from Trinidad or theGlockenspiel,
What is like a xylophone but with metal plates.

Of indefinite height (not tuned): Those that produce notes not

identifiable, that is, they produce notes of a
heightindeterminate.

Among them are: thebombo, the box, the drawer, thefunnel,

thecastanets, the keys, thecowbellthecymbal, theguiro,
therattle, thedrum, thevibraslap, thejaw, the battery,

In orchestras, it is usually differentiated between:

drum percussion

Sheet percussion

Small percussion

According to another criterion, they can be classified into four categories that

son

Membranophones, which use a tensioned membrane or a

a little loose.

Microphones, which add a tone to the sound of the hit.

Idiophones, which sound by themselves, like thetriangle.

Placo-phone, metal plates clashing.

This classification is not strict either, for example,

thetambourineit is a membranophone and an idiophone because it has
both, on the skin and on the jingles.
Conclusions
Musical instruments arose out of the need to
increase the sound field.

It had a common origin with man and imitated the

nature.

They are classified into three main groups: Wind, Percussion and

Rope.
