Factorization and Curve Analysis in Mathematics

The document presents a mathematical problem involving the polynomial f(x) = x^(2n) - (p+1)x² + p, demonstrating that (x-1) is a factor for all p values. It also requires finding n when p=4 such that (x+2) is a factor and fully factorizing f(x). Additionally, it discusses the maximum value of another function f(x) = 10 + 8x - 2x² and includes a geometric problem involving semi-circles and a circle, asking for the radius of the largest semi-circle and the radius of the circle.

Given that f(x) = x2n – (p+1) x² + p, where n and p are positive integers, show that (x-1) is

a factor of f(x) for all values of p.

When p =4, find the value of n for which (x+2) is a factor of f(x). Factorise f(x) completely.
Given that f(x) = 10 + 8x – 2x².
Determine the maximum value of f(x) and the corresponding value of x when this occurs.
Sketch the curve y = f(x).

The diagram shows 3 semi-circles and a circle touching each other at one point such
that the centers of the 3 semi-circles with diameters 6 cm, 12 cm and 18 cm are
collinear.
