Electromagnets and Electric Generators Explained

Electromagnets are temporary magnets formed when electric current flows through a wire coil, generating a magnetic field. Electric generators convert mechanical energy into electrical energy through electromagnetic induction, where a changing magnetic field induces an electric current. The reverse effect, demonstrated by Maxwell's Right Hand Thumb Rule, shows that reversing the current direction also reverses the magnetic field direction.

Q-1 what are Electromagnets?

Write one principal

An electromagnet is a temporary magnet created when an electric current flows through a coil of
wire, often wrapped around an iron core. The main principle is that an electric current produces
a magnetic field

Q-1 what are Electric Generators? Write one principal

An electric generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy using the
principle of electromagnetic induction.( Electromagnetic induction is the process where a
changing magnetic field creates an electric current). This principle states that a voltage, or
electromotive force, is created in a conductor when it moves through a magnetic field or
when the magnetic field around it changes

Q- Explain Reverse effect with an example

Maxwell’s Right Hand Thumb Rule

Original direction: If the current is flowing upwards (your thumb points up), your fingers will curl in
an anticlockwise direction. The magnetic field lines are also anticlockwise.

Reversed direction: If you reverse the current so it flows downwards (your thumb points down),
your fingers now curl in a clockwise direction. The magnetic field lines also reverse their direction,
becoming clockwise
