Objective of this course:
The objective of this course is to understand the
basics of:
■ Discrete time signals
■ Differentiate digital signal processing and
analog signal processing
■ Fourier and Z- Transformation of Discrete
signals
■ Frequency domain analysis of discrete-time
systems
Course Outline (Up to Mid)
■ Signals, systems and signal processing, classification of signals.
■ The concept of frequency in discrete-time signals. A/D, D/A conversion
of signals, sampling theorem.
■ Representation of DT signals, Elementary DT signals, classification of
DT signals, manipulations of DT signals.
■ DT systems, I/O description of systems, Block diagram representation
of DT systems. Classification & Properties of DT systems.
■ Analysis of DT LTI systems: Techniques, resolution of a DT signal into
impulses, convolutions sum. Properties of convolution and
interconnection of LTI systems.
■ Defining Causality & stability of LTI systems using impulse response,
FIR and IIR systems. I/O representation using difference equation,
recursive and non-recursive DT systems
■ Correlation of DT signals: auto correlation and cross correlation.
Properties of auto correlation and cross correlation, correlation of
periodic sequences, Computation of correlation sequences.
■ The Z-transform, ROC, Properties of z-transform, Inverse z-transform,
Pole-zero concept, Frequency response, Concept of Stability.
