Chapter I

INRODUCTION

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government implemented a lockdown of what we

considered non-essential. Among these are fitness centers that were very profitable before the

COVID-19 pandemic. People's fear about the COVID-19 virus has led to a change in their

lifestyle - having to focus on health, while staying at home and disinfecting themselves often.

People's behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic has changed as health becomes a top

priority.

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

Physical activity can improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce your risk of

disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to perform daily activities.

Now people are more aware of the incalculable benefits they can gain from joining the gym.

It is now clear to countless people that they can be healthier, improve their lifestyle and live

longer with regular exercise. Fitness is a healthy physical condition. Being healthy means you

can push your limits and not suffer serious consequences. There are several benefits to getting

fit.

According to the article, The Surprising Benefits of Exercise You Didn’t Know About,

exercise isn't just about aerobic capacity and muscle size. Regular exercise can have a

profoundly positive effect on depression, anxiety, and ADHD. It also reduces stress, improves

memory, helps you sleep better, and improves your overall mood. And you don't have to be a

fitness fanatic to reap the benefits. Research shows that a small amount of exercise can make a

real difference (Doctormmdev, 2023). Regardless of your age or physical condition, you can
learn to use exercise as a powerful tool to address mental health issues, improve your energy

and outlook, and improve your overall health.

Our cultures have moved from physically intense work over to working mostly in offices

all day long. In these past years health consciousness has also been increasing and awareness

of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle has further increased the demand from society for more

exercise options, some options for everybody (Stern, 2011).

Health is very important for everybody. This is the source and foundation of every action

we make in our daily lives. Being a health-conscious person is a positive and a good attitude

that we must have. And good thing to know that we, Filipinos, are a health-conscious people.

We must take good care of our health for us to do all the things we want in our life (Sassatelli,

2010).

Also, we Filipinos are health-conscious people. We really take good care of our body

and our health, for us to do all the things we want in our life. Mostly Filipinos are workers, and

they need take care of their body as their capital to work and earn money (Sassatelli, 2010).

There are many ways on how to be a healthy and physically fit person. One of those is

engaging in any sports activities. Engaging in many sports activities and enrolling yourself in a

fitness gym is also a way of living a healthy lifestyle (Ritzer, 2011).
