Subject: Hydraulic Valve Replacement.
Purpose: To ensure better control of the lowering speed during cut/burst hose
conditions.
Background: A variability exists in the main lift cylinder fuse valve (velocity fuse)
which can cause some 35DV-MQ masts, at full capacity and maximum fork
height, to descend at rates exceeding the 0.6m/s (118fpm) rate indicated in the
B56.1 standard (section 7.25.8), during a cut/burst hose condition. This
variability does not result in a free fall of the load in a cut or burst hose condition,
and in no way affects the day to day normal operation or functionality of the mast.
