PROGRESS REPORT
Tuesday – 03/06/2025
On this day, I completed making detailed notes on the final arguments heard in a matter that
had been ongoing over the past few days. These notes focused on the legal reasoning and court
observations, ensuring clarity and coherence for future reference. I was then assigned to find
relevant case citations that supported a legal proposition raised during the hearing.
Additionally, I was tasked with searching for information on the company directors from the
Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) ROC website. This was in connection with background
research required for a case the firm was handling.
Wednesday – 04/06/2025
I was instructed to prepare case notes for a set of cases dealing with applications under Order
39 Rules 1 and 2 of the CPC, which relate to the grant of temporary injunctions. My task
involved reading the judgments, extracting key legal issues, factual backgrounds, the reasoning
of the court, and the final decision. This helped me better understand how courts interpret
urgency, prima facie cases, balance of convenience, and irreparable harm while granting or
refusing interim reliefs. It was a valuable exercise in legal summarization and doctrinal clarity.
Thursday – 05/06/2025
My primary task for the day was to conduct a comprehensive search for all trademarks
registered under the name of one of the firm’s clients. Using the IP India website, I reviewed
each trademark's status to determine whether any had been abandoned, opposed, removed, or
were still active. I then compiled the data into a tabular format with serial numbers, trademark
classes, current status, and relevant remarks. This exercise enhanced my skills in trademark
database navigation and taught me the importance of keeping trademark portfolios updated and
monitored.
Friday – 06/06/2025
I was asked to research whether it is mandatory to obtain a drug license for goods registered
under Class 5 of the Trademark Classification, which includes pharmaceuticals and medical
products. In this context, I also examined whether holding only an FSSAI license would suffice
or if the absence of a drug license could pose legal challenges. I looked into relevant case laws,
statutory provisions, and articles discussing regulatory overlaps between food supplements and
pharmaceuticals. I summarized my findings in note form to assist the team in an ongoing
advisory matter.
Saturday – 07/06/2025
On Saturday, I assisted in organizing a case file that had recently been transferred to our firm.
The case was set to be re-instituted in court, so the documentation had to be thoroughly
reviewed, arranged, and checked for completeness. I sorted through pleadings, annexures,
previous orders, and related correspondence to ensure all required materials were properly
sequenced. This task helped me understand the administrative and procedural aspects of
litigation management and the importance of maintaining well-structured court files.
Monday – 09/06/2025
I attended a mediation proceeding held at the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation
Centre. Observing the session gave me insight into the alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
mechanism in practice. I noted how the mediator facilitated communication between the
parties, encouraged compromise, and maintained neutrality throughout. The proceeding
highlighted the significance of confidentiality, consent, and cooperative dialogue in settling
disputes outside the courtroom. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for mediation
as a viable and effective mode of dispute resolution.
