[SUICIDE]

Suicide is a sin, the sixth commandment requires all lawful endeavors to preserve our own life, it’s
forbidden the taking away of own life.

The bible says about suicide is a devil’s work. When Jesus was tempted by Satan [ the devil took him to
the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him “if you are the son of God throw
yourself down, for it is written, he will command his angels concerning you and on their hands they will
you up lest you strike your foot against a stone’. Mat 4:5-6 Satan tried to do suicide but Jesus refused
him by the word.

Acts 16:27 Paul stopped him to kill himself and after his family was saved and trust in God.

Num 11:15 when the people of Israel murmuring against the Lord and God’s anger was raised, when
they were quarreling to Moses , he asked God to kill him once, see, How Moses was struggling in the
middle of the people, not one times but many times Israel people were making troubles and making
depression but Moses never tries to do suicide instead of he was taking all his problem to God because
he knows God is the only solution for all the problems. He asked God to kill him but God saved him and
gave wisdom to lead the people into the promise land and he was died and God buried him.

1Kings 19:4 Elijah was afraid and he rose and ran for his life, because all the prophets were killed by
jezebel but God saved him in this verse Elijah asked to the Lord, take away my life, but God saved him
and feed him with the bird.

Job 3 In job life as we know How he was suffering even though he cursed his birthday many he asked
God to take his life, [Job 6:8-11], he is speaking in the bitterness of his soul. But God shows his mercy to
Job and kept alive and blessed him more than his beginning.

Jonah 4:8 In Jonah’s life in one situation he says “it is better for me to die than to live” God is used for
his Glory, God let him known about the importance of God’s word and to know How God is graceful to
his people.

Luke 2:29 Simeon after he saw Jesus he prayed to God that now you are letting your servant depart in
peace, according to your word. Even in the state of gladness they are asking to depart because they
know the peace in death because they are going to depart in God. And after their death they are going
to have a fellowship with God, he was died by natural death.

2 Cor 5:2,8 Paul saying that he desires to dwell in the heaven and have a home with the Lord, Paul
waited for this Glory until his last breath, he never killed himself to dwell in heaven.

Phill 1:20-23, Paul says we should honor Christ thru our body whether life or but death that means to
submit our body to God because we’re the temple of God, we should honor our body.

Judges 16:29,30 Samson he says Let me die with the philistines and he died there, and v 30 says So the
dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life, he killed
3000 philistines of his strength, he died for his people of Israel and he saved them from the philistines,
we shouldn’t take this as a suicide but he gave himself for his people as a judge and warrior, and when
he was died he looked to the Lord, he was a repented man and fought for God’s people, he might have
chance to escape from there but he died to kill philistines.
There are three types of death mentioned in the Bible

1. physical death

Separation into the flesh and soul

2. spiritual death

Separation into the God and man

3. Eternal death

Separation from God forever

Death is a terrible thing and unnatural result of sin, before the fall, there was no death.

Adam’s sin brought death into the world.

The wages of sin is Death, Death is a punishment of sin but there is a life in Jesus Christ.

Life is a Gift:

Psalms 139:13-16 Life is a gift of God. because God giving Life he has the authority to take it away,
Suicide is seen as a tragic act that goes against God’s design for life and hope.

Suicide isn’t God’s will the Bible teaches that we should trust God in our own Life for eg. We saw above
in the life of Elijah, Job etc.

God encouraged them to keep living and trust him, Suicide rejects God’s purpose.

Hope:

Christianity teaches that no matter how hopeless life we feels, there is always hope in Jesus Christ Matt
11:28.

God’s Love offers healing, forgiveness and meaningful life not to attend suicide.

What is the Forgiveness of Sin?

We all were in the sins and under the God’s Wrath, but God shows his mercy upon us and he saved us
through his son Jesus Christ, he sacrificed himself and died on the cross, he died on my place as a
substitutionary death. Those who are saved by his blood they are become the children of God, Rom
6:22-23, you get leads to sanctification and it’s end eternal life.

1 Cor 3: 16 we’re the God’s temple and his Spirit dwells in us and let no one deceive himself, we should
glorify God by our Life or by Death. But Suicide not glorifying God.

We’re adopted as a child of God, so we’re God’s people we’re changed into the image of God, God’s
spirit works in us he lead us not into the temptations and take away from the distractions and he helps
us to overcome the sins when we are doing sins the Holy spirit grieving in us Eph 4:30,31.
Lets we see about Suicide in the Bible:

Saul:

1 Sam 31:4-5 Therefore Saul took his own sword and fell upon it. He killed himself and died, he never
turn back to God again, why he was killed himself because lest he not killed by uncircumcised people,
this wasn’t glorifying God, before he died he was not repented and Even though after the enemy thrust
him he didn’t turn back to God and ask forgiveness. And his armor bearer also killed himself but he
ought to escaped from there and to announce the information instead of he attempt suicide.

Ahithophel:

Ahithophel he attempt suicide, he hanged himself and died, He found his result of his sin, it was a sinful
death.

Judas:

Acts 1: 18 Judas acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, he hanged himself and died and he
doesn’t turn back to God for forgiveness, see, only the guilty of sin is not means forgiven the turning to
God and asking Forgiveness is a matter here so his death is not rightful,

First death is a God’s curse, suicide is a sin but this is forgivable sin, see, if a Christian man attempted
suicide and he was saved by someone then he taken to the hospital and after many days he was cured
and and he felt guilt of his sin and repented to God and ask forgiveness, this was the transformation in
his life and reconciliation to God, this is the assurance of salvation,

But if a man died by suicide that means he was saved by the blood of Christ, why, above we were seeing
does their death was glorifying God or the reward of their wickedness, before they died they turned to
God and they were all died by natural death but samson was a warrior he fought for Israel he died for to
kill philistines. And he glorified God before his death and his death also glorifies.

This life is a way to the eternal life, which the life is in Jesus Christ, we’re buried with him and also will
resurrect with him that is our hope and salvation.

Faith without work is dead, Faithful man live according to the word, he submit his life to God we see
Godliness in him, repentance is regular process we should be repent until our death because of our
sinful nature but our repentance is a grace of God, his grace is only when we alive not after our death,
death is a separation that means we’re also separating from his grace no more his grace after our death,
that’s we’re not praying to save his soul after his death because time is end. but roman catholics belief is
different. The work of the holy spirit lead them way to eternal life but Satan’s work leads them to death.
death is a Satan’s tool.

The Counseling:

The biblical counseling to the people who are disturbed or feel depression, the pastors or elders should
speak to them and guide them and they should encourage them to live in Christ, they should teach the
way and the life and the truth, they should talk to them about the sin and forgiveness and attributes of
God, they should know the value of life. And teach them to glorify God by our life and death. The
purpose of mankind is to glorify and enjoy with him. This should reminder to those people. They should
know how God hates sin and they should know the work of grace and his mercy and truth of then
gospel. Whatever the problems god’s people choose God to be their solution.

Attending the funeral service:

When Saul died David mourned for him, pastors should attend the funeral service of suicide case for the
sake of that family. Eccle 7:2 the living will lay it to heart. Funerals are for the living. They are a
necessary space for us to acknowledge the horror of death, to process our grief. A funeral is not
primarily for the person who has died but for those who still live. As a pastor should comfort them
because they might be God’s people, we should be in oneness in Christ.
