THE PROBLEM OF UNEMPLOYMENT

Introduction
Human life by its very nature inclines to work. Most people
work for keeping their body and soul together, but very
few works only for pleasure. The absence of work or
unemployment virtually transforms the individual into
meaningless existence. On the contrary, employment
provides the individual with the chance to participate in
society and improves his worth, status, and dignity. So, the
terms employment and unemployment are poles apart
from each other regarding their impacts on society.

“An unemployed existence is a worse negation

of life than death itself.”

Unemployment means the lack of employment. In other

words, it means man’s inability to find work or any job
according to his qualification and aptitude. In today’s
world, unemployment is found everywhere on the globe. It
is no longer temporary and manageable. It has rather
become an international problem being faced by even the
rich and advanced countries of the world. The virus of
unemployment is creating more panic and sense of
insecurity than any other virus of the most deadly disease.
In India, this problem is more acute than in western
countries. Perhaps we have a larger army of the
unemployed young men than the actual army of the
country. Generally, the graph of unemployment keeps on
changing according to the industrial and economic
development of a country.

EAT.”

Unemployment is obviously the root of many evils and

crimes. It spells starvation, disease, and death on its
victims. The young people who do not have any job or any
source of income ultimately become indifferent to right
and wrong, good and evil. Corruption, dishonesty, sin,
crime, and vices of all kinds are the natural outcome of
unemployment. From the political point of view,
unemployment is extremely harmful because it breeds
discontent and a sense of insecurity in the masses.
The Problem of Unemployment
Votes can be easily bought and sold in the society where
unemployment prevails. Mob violence and revolutions are
also the results of unemployment. The person who is
unable to find any job cannot pay proper attention to his
duties and rights as a citizen. A man with the empty
stomach cannot be expected to be a true patriot.

“Too long a sacrifice can make a stone of the heart.”

Constant joblessness can shake his most sincere devotion

to the country and his nation. Financial problems and
worries often drive their victim towards inferiority complex,
self-hatred, and lack of confidence. So, a country with high
unemployment rate is literally bound to face the music in
terms of chaos, restlessness, lawlessness, and terrorism.
In India, the unemployed persons can be counted in
millions. A lot of planning is going on without any positive
results so far. Almost all the professions are overcrowded.
Even a graduate with first class is unable to find any job in
any offices or schools. There is absolutely no scope left in
the medical profession. It has become very difficult for the
young doctors to find any job in government hospitals.
The bar also offers no chance for a beginner due to a large
influx of lawyers in this profession. The field of engineering
has also no more scope for the young and promising
engineers. This has been a hopeless and gloomy picture of
our country for many years.
 NEEDS AND SIGNIFICANTS
It is very significant to study unemployment. We will know
more about our country that what population of our
country INDIA is employed.
We will know the types of unemployment in our country
like educated unemployment, which is very common in
urban areas. Many students who enrolled and post
matriculated cannot find jobs, and this leads to a waste of
resources to our country. Other employed such as
seasonal disagreed, which turns the people in liability
rather than an asset of our country. While studying, we can
conclude how to stop this unemployment.
 TYPES OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN WORLD

There are three major types of unemployment, and they

are:
1. Cyclic Unemployment
2. Frictional unemployment
3. Structural unemployment.

1. Cyclical Unemployment
Over time, the economy experiences many ups and downs.
That's What we call cyclical unemployment because it goes
in cycles.
Cyclical unemployment occurs because of these cycles.
When the economy enters a recession, many of the jobs
are lost, these are Cyclical unemployment.

2. Frictional Unemployment
Frictional unemployment occurs because of normal
turnover in the market and time it takes to find new jobs
for workers even if there are enough workers to satisfy
every job opening, it takes time for them to leer about the
jobs.

3. Structural Unemployment
This occurs because of the absence of demand for a
certain type of work. This typically happens when there are
mismatches between the skills employers want and the
skills workers have. Major advances in technology, as well
as finding the lower costs of labour, leads to this type of
unemployment.
 CAUSES OF UNEMPLOYMENT WORLD

• Population Explosion
• Lack of vocational and technical education.

• Rural area leered people migrate to cities for official jobs.

Many people are physically unfit for hard manual jobs.
• Shyness toward factory jobs.
• More preference for White collard jobs.
•Many social negative impacts on reaction against specific
jobs.
• Lack of obsession of labour, in under industrialized areas.
• Lack of vocational education results in backwardness in
technical skill required jobs.
TYPES OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN INDIA
We know that the situation in which the person is capable
of working both physically and mentally at the existing
wage rate, but does not the job is unemployment.
Types:
• Open unemployment
• Cyclical unemployment
• Seasonal unemployment
• Educated unemployment
• Technological unemployment

1. Open unemployment: This situation is wherein a labour

force does not have a job that may yield them a regular
income. This can be counted in the number of
unemployed persons. The labour force expands faster than
the rate of the economy. So, all people do not get gob.

2. Cyclical Unemployment: It is caused by trade cycles at

regular intervals. Generally, the ups and downs in the
business activities result in this unemployment.
3. Seasonal Unemployment: It is the unemployment that
occurs during certain seasons of the year. In some
industries like holiday resorts, agriculture, i.e., factories, etc.
production activities take place only in some seasons. So,
they offer employment only in some period for a year.
People engaged in such types of activities remain during
the off-seasons.

4. Educated Unemployment: Among the educated

people, apart from open unemployment, they are
unemployed because their qualifications do not match the
job. The faulty education system, moss output, preference
for white collared jobs, lack of employment skills, salary
arguments, etc. are reasons for unemployment among
youth who are educated in India.

5. Technological unemployment: It is the result of a

certain development in technology. In the production
sectors, which may not need many labourers, are the
cause. Modern technology leering capital intensive
requires fewer labourers and contributes to this kind of
unemployment.
 REASON OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN INDIA
Though many reasons led to the problem of unemployment in
India, some are:
• Increased Population
• Education System
• Lack of interest in the industrial sector
• Preference to experienced
1. Increased Population: Due to an increase in population,
people could not be able to get a job as various applicants
apply for the same job.

2. Education System: Lack of vocational education, Ineffective

and low-quality education system providing only theoretical
knowledge is one of the causes.

3. Lack of interaction in the industrial sector: Most of the

Indian youth show interest in profitable white collared jobs and
refuse to work in industrial sectors.

4. Preference to experience: Criteria for selecting candidates

with having an experience rather than freshers leads to
unemployment.
HOW TO RECOVER FROM THIS PROBLEM💡
To overcome this situation of unemployment in India, various
can find out some of these are:
1. The population should be controlled in a manner to provide
more job opportunities for limited people.
2. The education system should be more advanced and
technical.
3. The government should focus on every sector, especially
such as in agriculture, so that people should not be forced to
move from rural to urban areas.
4. The development of rural areas is required to avoid
migration.

SOLUTION OR REMEDIES📝
The problem of unemployment for an immediate solution is not
very easy to solve. Only if sincere attempts are made problems
may be solved timely.
1. Population explosion is one of the most important factors of
the present unemployment problem.
2. More vocational sectors must be opened. So that young can
be trained and could fit for any jobs.

3. The government should try for rapid industrialization is

under industrialized regions for the country and provide more
opportunities.

4. The village and cottage industry should be developed so

that more opportunities are provided and to reduce migration
fromrural areas to cities in search of jobs.

FINDINGSQ
By completing this project, we came to know that
unemployment affects the countries overall income.
• Through completing this project, we can understand that
industrialization can affect unemployment positively as well as
negatively.
• Lack of skills is also an important cause of unemployment.
• The primary reason for unemployment is the lack of technical
education and the interest of youth towards white collared
jobs.
• Through doing this project gives us more awareness of
effects, measures and causes on unemployment.
 CONCLUSION🎯
We should keep in mind that self-help is the best help. We
must admit the bitter fact that no government can provide jobs
to all unemployed youth. More government measures cannot
solve such an enormous problem. Still, the government should
adopt measures to create opportunities for self-employment.
Promoting jobs for self may be preventing unemployment from
limiting.

For the project, we interviewed and did some research
on the topic “The Problem Of Unemployment”. The
study made me understand how unemployment affects
the country. It is a serious social issue in India and a big
global concern too. There are thousands of people who
are not employed owing to the rising population and a
steady decline in jobs, leading to unemployment.
Unemployment adversely affects the disposable income
of families, erodes purchasing power, diminishes
employee morale, and reduces an economy's output.
It is clear that the unemployment is the mother of
countless ills. It is such a poison that pollutes the society,
endangers the democratic fabric of country. Our
education system has its own irreparable defects and its
contribution to the unemployment is an open truth.
Unemployment in our country has become such a
complicated, economic, social and political issue that it
requires urgent steps to eliminate its scourge.

Upon receiving this project my team and I spend a
significant portion of time at working and organizing
details of the project. After working on this project I was
able to understand how unemployment has become a
serious social issue.
This is a fact that there are jobs available but
unemployed persons don't possess requisite skills for
jobs that is, there is a skill-job mismatch. This kind of
unemployment has become most prominent in India in
recent years. Despite taking several initiatives, still, there
is an increasing rate of unemployment in India.
Governments have to regulate basic norms and take
strict actions. Changing school curriculum's and teaching
students about finances, skills at an early age is more
beneficial, and an asset to the economy. Employment
determines the fate of the country.
To conclude, we can say that the problem of
unemployment in India has reached a critical stage. But,
now the government and local authorities have taken the
problem seriously and working on it to reduce
unemployment.

For this project we interviewed and did some research on the
topic of “The Problem Of Unemployment”. We found that a lot
of youngsters are sitting idle without job and we are not able to
provide jobs to youth adequately. This is really a failure of the
system. We must provide jobs to those are capable and willing
to work. The students are roaming here and there joblessly after
passing out and having big degrees. Some are compromising
with lower standard of work and meagre salary. The problem of
unemployment is leading towards joblessness throughout the
country no doubt the problem varies from place to place.
Majority of the people are working on the farm, in those areas
where agricultural land is fertile. The problem of unemployment
is less in Punjab and Haryana. People in these states are getting
good agricultural production due to fertile land.
It is well known fact that India is a thickly populated country. The
population is increasing rapidly. We could not create new jobs
in the same proportion that is the reason why a large section of
people is left unemployed.
The government should implement job opportunities for the
youth who are willing to work. And, there should be more job
opportunities in rural area too and a system of giving
opportunity of interview.

Unemployment is a huge problem in India and it's
gotten worse after the pandemic. The worst thing
is the sense of unemployment. When someone
begins to believe that it is worthless, it becomes
very difficult for them to go out.

The project taught me that unemployment is a real

problem and that it will eventually affect us.
Therefore, we ought to raise our concern.

At last, I want to thank Mr. Sanjeev Shrivastava sir,

for giving me this opportunity and my team mates
for co-operating.

When our teacher gave us the project to make on the topic of
"The Problem of Unemployment "we don't know much about it
but when we started research on it. Then we find it is a very
serious problem which we have to think about it and try to solve
it.
Unemployment is a very deadly spreading virus, overpopulation
is the root cause of unemployment. The problem can be only
solved by developing the economy growth of a country, a well
set Nation can help provide to job to the jobless people. An
unemployment individual people is a big threat to whole
humanity because he will use wrong channel to feel his
stomach. It is a high time to control the increasing rate and
implement the price and order in the world.
The youth generation is most affected by the problem of
unemployment they were fully educated but helpless to find any
reputed job according to their qualification. There are multiple
and complex cause behind youth unemployment among them
the quality and relevance of education in flexible labour market
and regulation which is turn create a situation of assistant and
dependency are the main cause.

The growth of employment opportunity are much less

compared to those who are joining the workforce both (skilled
and unskilled).
Our government has taken many steps to solve those problems
related to unemployment such as :
A. Employment guarantee scheme
B. Swarna jayanti gram swarozgar Yojana
C. Pradhanmantri rojgar Yojana
Unemployment is a serious issue for any economy. It creates
negative affects to unemployed as they are jobless and suffer
from worse prospects to find new job and those who are
employed feel less secure to keep their jobs in future.
