I learned about the importance of having a process to breaking down readings/articles in a more

concrete methodology, versus my old style of just winging it for the most part. Noting the things I
do help give myself a give myself a clearer sense of direction when I’m working through an
article or writing for a prompt. Instead of hoping something sticks, I can double back to readings
to analyze structure, key ideas, and reflect on how each part connects to the main argument.
This approach not only helps me retain more information while reading, but also makes my
responses and insight feel more intentional.
Some readings/videos like Jamila Lyiscott’s “3 Ways to Speak English” stood out to me because
it made me think about the meaning of being ‘articulate’ more than the other readings did, as it
came from a more personal story and was presented in an interesting way.
Sometimes I struggle with understanding the prompts for the assignments, and I usually have a
better time understanding through examples from other people rather than another explanation.
Seeing what needs to be done rather than being told is usually a better way of teaching
someone like me.
I would like to try catching up on missing points, I have been having bad time management
lately so that is something I want to dial in more. When I don’t plan my time well, everything
starts to pile up and it becomes harder to stay consistent. Going forward, I want to be smarter
with how I organize my schedule, across my other classes and beyond education as well.
I’m curious about the topics we’ve been going over lately, when it comes to articulation and
expression in various mediums such as speech, writing, writing on the internet, and more. I’ve
always been interested in how the internet has shaped today’s culture, but also have been
weary of the cons it has brought as well.
