Jumper Wire Connection Solutions Guide

The document outlines technical problems associated with making jumper wire connections in two or three-gang convenience outlets, highlighting issues such as limited space, inaccurate wire length estimates, and inconsistent measuring techniques. It proposes solutions including miniaturized components, pre-cut and color-coded wires, and standardized measurement tools to improve the installation process. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for standardized procedures to enhance the quality of electrical work.

1. Identify your technical problems using the combination of Fishbone and the 5 WHYs

5 WHYs
Problem:
Making a jumper wire connection on a Two (2) or Three (3) gang convenience
outlet can be difficult the beginners and even experienced individuals
because you need to estimate if it will exactly into the holes or terminals of
an outlet. Moreover, it’s hassle to install, and it often results in poor in
connections, which can cause short circuits or loss of connection, and
substandard work.

Why is making jumper wire connections on a two or three-gang outlet

difficult?

-The space inside the electrical box is often limited, making it hard to
manipulate wires and connectors. Also, inaccurate estimates lead to wires
that either too short (unable to reach the terminals) or too long

Why is the space inside the electrical box limited?

-The boxes are designed to fit the standard wall cavities, and multi-gang
configurations require more devices and wiring within the same or similarly
sized space.

Why do inaccurate estimates lead to wires that are too short or too long?

-Because electricians often rely on visual estimation or inconsistent

measuring techniques, and there’s a lack of precise methods for determining
the exact wire length needed

Why do electricians rely on visual estimation or inconsistent measuring

techniques even there are proper tools to be used?

-lack of standardized procedures for accurately measuring and cutting jumper

wire and habits that are not always precise.

Why is there a lack of readily available or standardized procedures for

accurately measuring and cutting jumper wires?

-Maybe some Industry may not have fully recognized the significance of
precise wire length in improving the quality.
