Time Activity Focus & Tips
5:00 AM Wake Up No phone. Drink a large glass of water. Do some
physical activity. This wakes up your body and brain.
5:45 AM - 7:15 AM DEEP WORK Focus on ONE exam subject. Use the Pomodoro
BLOCK 1 Technique: 50 minutes of study, 10 minutes of break.
7:15 AM - 8:00 AM Prepare for Get ready, have a quick breakfast.
Fieldwork
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Fieldwork Do not guilt yourself about not studying. Your brain
needs a break. However, use any short breaks (lunch,
10-minute pauses) for micro-tasks
– Jot down one idea for your PhD thesis.
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Transition Time Travel home, decompress, change clothes. Use this time
for a walk, mindfulness, or a power nap.
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Focus on Earning Your Livelihood.
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM Dinner & Relax Absolutely no work. Disconnect. Watch something,
listen to music, talk to family.
9:00 PM - 10:00 PM LIGHT WORK Administrative Tasks: Plan the next day's schedule,
BLOCK respond to emails, and organize files.
10:00 PM Wind Down Read a book for pleasure (not an academic one), and
engage in light meditation. No screens.
10:30 PM Sleep
Saturday (The Reset Day)

7:30 AM Wake Up Get out of bed immediately. Drink a full glass of water.
7:30 AM - 8:30 AM Gentle Start No work. This is for you.
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM DEEP WORK Focus: PhD Research. This is your longest, most focused block for
BLOCK 1 analysis, writing, or complex reading. Use 50-minute work sessions
with 10-minute breaks.
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM COMPLETE Absolutely no work. This mental break is critical for recovery
BREAK and preventing burnout.
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM LIGHT Focus: Exam Prep (Passive/Light). This is not for new, difficult
WORK topics.
BLOCK
6:00 PM onwards Evening Off Make dinner, relax, stick to your wind-down ritual. You must stop
all work by 7:00 or 8:00 PM at the absolute latest.
Sunday (The Preparation Day)

7:30 AM - 9:00 AM Gentle Start & Have breakfast, then do a light review. Look over what you
Review accomplished this week. What felt good? What was a
struggle?
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM WEEKLY This is your most important task.
PLANNING 1. Plan Your Week: What are the TOP 3 priorities for your
SESSION PhD? For your exams? For earning money?
2. Schedule Your Week: Literally open your calendar and
block time for your 2-hour morning deep work sessions.
Assign a specific subject/task to each block.
3. Prepare: download PDFs, prepare meals, pick your
clothes.
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM COMPLETE Just like Saturday.

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM LIGHT WORK Focus: Earn Livelihood.
BLOCK
6:00 PM onwards Evening Off & Wind- Stick to your ritual.
