CHARACTERS
- John : The main character. The inspector , Hung Pi's cousin.
John was a refugee, but after losing his parents he got adopted by a Malaysian couple
and he continued his passion of studying in the criminology field and now he’s a TOP 10
rated inspector.

- Yong Quan : The detective

John’s childhood best friend till this date. A Malaysian. Studied together with John and
worked together with him and still do. He is a very quiet person and very calm or so that
is what everyone thinks, but behind all that calm and sweet face hides a psychopath that
no one could have thought about. He hates refugees a bit too much and he was killing all
of them one by one, almost like a serial killer but he got covered as he will cover for
himself.

- Hung pi : A refugee. A calm , sweet girl.

Hung Pi is a refugee who came to Malaysia with hopes that things would get better for
her or that is what she thought. She never knew what the future held for her.

The irony of life is so ironic. One moment you are happily walking back home and in the same
minute , you are gasping for air, drenched in blood and calling out for help when your eyes
finally shut close forever.
John , Yong Quan and Hung Pi were good friends.
It was 29th of February, Hung Pi’s birthday. She was finally 25. John and Yong Quan visited her
in a restaurant and the three friends were having a beautiful time, enjoying the moment , the
DIALOGUES

atmosphere, the music in the background and it was something so beautiful to Hung Pi that she
could never forget, she lived for things like this. But who knew her happiness won't last forever.

It was 12:47am, Hung Pi was walking back home, actually skipping and humming to herself ,
being grateful for the day she just had within the same minute she fell to the ground. Drenched in
blood, crying , calling out for help but no one hearing her as if there's no one in the world and
before she could try to do anything.. Her eyes close shut.. Forever.

SCENE 1
In the morning , a couple were doing their daily jogs, until they
noticed a body. A dead body. Yes, it was Hung Pi’s body. They
informed the local police station and the police arrived at the crime
scene with their senior transferred officer. John and Yong Quan.

(Woman) : “AHHHHHHHHHH”

(Mann) : “Calm down, let's call the police.”

Yellow police tape flaps gently in the breeze. Officers are taking photos,
placing markers. The atmosphere is tense. JOHN and YONG QUAN stand
silently, staring down at Hung Pi’s lifeless body, now covered with a white
sheet. For a moment, the world feels frozen.

OFFICER LIM (30s, junior detective)

(approaches)
“Sirs. The body was found by joggers around 6:10 a.m. No signs of robbery. No
weapon found. The coroner says the time of death was roughly 12:50 a.m.”

[JOHN doesn’t respond. He’s frozen. YONG QUAN slowly removes his sunglasses,
disbelief washing over him.]

(YONG QUAN)
“Are you sure about the identity?”

(OFFICER LIM)
“ID was in her bag. It’s her, sir. Hung Pi.”
DIALOGUES

[JOHN turns away, his jaw clenched. Flashbacks flicker back, Hung Pi smiling at the
restaurant, laughing. Music and laughter fade to a cold silence.]

(YONG QUAN)

“We were with her… just hours ago.”

(JOHN)
[ in sudden ]
“I want every camera in a 500-meter radius pulled. Traffic, stores, anything. I want witness
statements from every shop, every window facing this street. We’re not letting this slip.”

OFFICER LIM
“Yes, sir.”

[OFFICER LIM walks off. JOHN kneels next to the body, staring at the edges of the
bloodstain.]

(JOHN)
“This wasn’t random. She was targeted. This place is too quiet for mugging.
Someone knew she’d be alone.
Someone knew when and where.”

[They exchange a glance, grief behind their eyes.]

(JOHN)
“Find out who knew she was walking home. Start with the restaurant. Staff, guests,
cameras.”

(YONG QUAN)
“And her phone. Messages, calls… everything.”

“Happy birthday, Pi.”

As everyone walks away from the crime scene with the evidence, John takes one last
look at Hung Pi. He was about to walk away but he noticed something underneath her
hand. A broken part of a bracelet. He picks it up and keeps it to himself as evidence.

SCENE 2
DIALOGUES

cIn the investigation room , the table is messy with all the
papers. The call log history, bank detail, crime scene pictures
and the evidence. Trying to find the connection.

(JOHN)
“Check her last sent message. To whom it was. What was it?”
[ pauses ]
“It must have been someone who knew her well , her routes, her timing , her schedule.”

As he says that , he walks out the room.

Lost. In grief. Demotivated.
Yong Quan doesn't even try to hold him back and watch him walk out the room.
Yong Quan was too calm…. Almost very calm.

SCENE 3
It has been months. 6 months, 12 days, 5 hours and 34
seconds. To be exact.
Everyone has forgotten it , or maybe almost everyone. The
crime scene still haunts him, the last moment of them being
together still shadows over him. She was his cousin after all.
He was ashamed he could not do anything as the top rated
inspector.
As for Yong Quan , it seemed like he never cared.

(JOHN)
It has been a while, why does it still haunt me? I, the top rated inspector, could not
give justice to my own family, after mom’s and dad’s death… she was my only one. My
only family. Poor her. Never got to know the truth, she was my blood. My own sister. In
the car accident mom and dad could not make it, my sister was missing and I was
hopeless. After becoming an inspector , I found out about her but she did not have the
memory of anything and I was too busy and afraid to ever tell her the truth.

He pauses for a while, regretting , not sure what exactly he is regretting. He was in
guilt. What guilt? The guilt of not telling the truth or the guilt of not giving her the
justice she needs.
DIALOGUES

{ If he fights for her not only that he fights for her but for every other refugee or girl in
general , that may have the chances of their right to life taken away from them }

John calls Yong Quan. He was in Thailand , having fun and will be returning after a
week. The idea of him enjoying after Hung Pi’s death did not sit right with him. It
sounded like he almost did not care but then he thought he was crazy for making
assumptions because it could be that everyone moved on because she was not as
dearest to everyone as she was to him.

SCENE 4
He was crying. He wipes his tears away and gets the sudden
urge to fight for his sister. He got up from his room and
rushed to his study room. Bringing out a file that concluded
everything on Hung Pi’s case.
He grabbed his keys and rushed to the investigation room, to
look at the evidence.
He was taken aback. What was Yong Quan doing there?
Wasn't he supposed to be in Thailand? Did he lie to him?

(JOHN)
“What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in Thailand?”

(YONG QUAN)
“In a hesitant voice”

“Yeah… yeah… I just came early. Thailand was not so fun.”

As Yong Quan speaks John notices something. He was hiding something, he looked
nervous and scared but he was trying his best to act natural. John's suspicion grew on
him but he let it go.
After a while Yong Quan left , John looked at the evidence , he felt like something was
missing. That's when it hits him. The evidence he found on the crime scene. He brought
out the evidence, it was a strange feeling. That piece of evidence was very familiar.
Almost too familiar.

(JOHN)
“This reminds me of something…
Could it be??
DIALOGUES

No. No way.”

He looked at all of her pictures, there were only two people wearing bracelets with the
same charm found at the crime scene.

(JOHN)
“Me and ……. Yon-”

SCENE 5
He was in disbelief, but it all started making sense to him.
Was his suspicion , his assumption? Indeed the truth?

(JOHN)
“No, no. It must have been a mistake. How could he kill her? We grew up together , he
never was like this, how could I not see what was wrong? Was I blinded by the
connection, love , friendship and by the bond between us?”

Calls Yong Quan, he does not answer. Calls again with a hope in his chest that he will
answer the phone but yet again “ call not delivered”

John was doing his best , speeding, doing everything. Tracking his location , calling
him, texting him and what not.
The question is how can someone disappear so quickly?
John saw him hours ago.
He continued his search but with no sign of Him, in the end he goes back to his house
in anger and disappointment but only to find Yong Quan in his living room watching a
movie as he is so chilled out about everything.

(JOHN)
“Yong Quan?”

(YONG QUAN)
“Come, watch with me this movie is so fire.”

(JOHN)
DIALOGUES

“Are you out of your mind? Why did you kill her? What did she ever do to you? Did you
feel even a bit of guilt out of your body? How could you?”

(YONG QUAN)
“So you finally found out huh? Took you long enough.”

(JOHN)
“Are you okay? What is wrong with you, what has gotten into you?
Did you ever care about her? Did you not feel an ounce of guilt?”

(YONG QUAN)
“Care? I hated her , you refugees are so naive , as matter of fact i hate you too but
could not kill you yet.”

(JOHN)
“What do you mean?”

(YONG QUAN)
“Growing up I hated refugees, I just hated all of you. You guys had your ways always,
people loved you guys. Your parents, your people and us? We will get hated on.
“They are so arrogant” “they are so rude” “i hate these IC peoples”
It's like if I even try to do something nice , you guys will think it is because I want
something in return.
Also i could not kill you yet, you are very strong , hard to break and you were too
smart, from all the murders made in the past two years , you found a connection that ,
they all were refugees so i had to be very careful and that is why i could not kill you
yet but after killing Hung Pi i knew it was easy to kill you.”

(JOHN)
“We always loved you Quan, this is not you, I have known you my whole childhood.”

(YONG QUAN0
Giggles but a hint of anger in his giggle.
“You never did , you always wanted to show how you refugees are just better than
everyone.”

As he says he gets close and closer, to the point making John pull out his gun.

In all this John had recorded Yong Quan confession in the chip hiding inside his jacket
and which also helped signal the police force team to arrive to arrest Yong Quan.

( In between all this, all the memory of him and Yong Quan flashes back to him. From
not eating his food without Yong Quan to holding him at gunpoint. Life is so ironic.)

John watches all this hoping it is all a bad dream but it is not.
DIALOGUES

The police arrive and

In the car , 4 officers were in the back seat and John was in the front seat. 30 minutes
into the drive, there was a gunshot.
Yong Quan has killed himself.

The court handled and closed this case in a way it would not threaten the law.

Life is so funny, the person who you trusted ended up being the person you never
expected them to become.

BASED ON REAL LIFE EVENT.

This story is based on real events.
Artur Ryno and Pavel Skachevsky were convicted in 2008 for a series of racially
motivated murders in Moscow.
Many of their victims were migrants, fathers, sons, workers, students, people who fled
conflict or sought a better life.
People who were targeted simply for who they were.

Ryno was 17 years old when he confessed to 37 killings.

He served 10 years—the maximum sentence allowed for a minor.
The scars left behind will last far longer.

This film is not about glorifying hate toward refugees.

It is a reminder of what happens when hate is allowed to grow in silence.
When fear is mistaken for identity.
And when young lives, both victims and perpetrators are twisted by violence.

We remember the names we know.

And the many we never learned.

In memory of all those who never made it home.

May their stories be louder than their silence.
And may we never stop telling them.
