Discus throwing techniques
Album launch
The disc throw is a discipline of athletics whose objective
The main thing is to launch an object with a certain weight and in a circular shape.
known as disk, to the greatest distance possible. This practice
is located within the field tests and consists of one and a half turns
what the athlete must give about their own axis. It is considered one of the
oldest disciplines and can be practiced by both women and
men.
The launch takes place from a small circular area,
what forces competitors to use in a way
suitable all the muscles of the body to achieve a
good throwing distance. The disc entails a
sudden burst of speed and power to generate the
necessary force to throw the disc. To improve the
shots, competitors must perform exercises to
train the necessary muscles correctly.
What should a record be like?
A competition disc is approximately 45 mm thick.
center for men and approximately 38 mm thick for the
women. Each disc narrows to 12 mm at the edge. The edge is a ring
rounded and has a metallic edge. The competitors from all the
ages use a disc that weighs 1 kg, or around 2.2 pounds. For the
male competitors, the disc is 1.6 kg, or around 3.5 pounds.
In university and in international competitions, such as the
Olympic Games, it is 2 kg or 4.4 pounds.
Where is this sport practiced?
A disc golf field starts with a throwing circle with a diameter
2.5 meters or approximately 8.2 feet. Surrounding the circle is a ring.
slightly elevated of metal; the ring must be at least 6 mm high and
to be painted white. Two lines extend outwards from the circle
to define a triangular landing zone for the disk. These lines are
they are placed in such a way that, if they extend in the circle, they can gather at the
center. For competition in secondary school, the lines form
an angle of 60 degrees; for the university, 40 degrees; and for the
international competitions, at about 35 degrees. The smaller it is
the angle, the smaller the landing area will be.
DISC LAUNCH REGULATIONS
Competitors must comply with the following rules:
Start from a stationary position, facing away from the marked sector.
Avoid touching the upper part of the fence, nor the ground outside of it.
the same during the launch.
Stay in the circle until the disk has landed.
The throw can be interrupted and the disc can be placed on the ground.
The disk must land between the sector lines. The launches
they are measured from the closest mark on the disc on the ground, to the
inner edge of the circle.
3 qualifying rounds are held and then the finalists.
three final attempts are made.
The competitor with the highest throw is declared the winner.

VARIATIONS OF THE THROWING TECHNIQUE
Oerter Technique: An exaggerated delay of the disc occurs, taking place the
final phase with only one foot.
Silvester Technique: At the exact moment of the throw, both feet have
lost contact with the ground. The feet are usually closer together than in
other techniques.
