Topic: Understanding adolescent self harm and suicidal intent

Characters: 3

INT. LIVING ROOM – DAY

Simran, 15, enters the house. Aarav, 16, greets her cheerfully.

Ambient sound: laughter, footsteps.

The two settle down with a board game. As Simran adjusts her dupatta, Aarav
notices faint marks on her wrist. He freezes for a moment, concern flickering in his
eyes. While playing the game, he notices she’s barely in the moment, she keeps
zoning out.

AARAV
Sab theek hai na, Simran?

Simran shrugs.

SIMRAN
Bas thoda thak gayi hoon… board exams aur sab kuch. Chalo, game khelo.

INT. KITCHEN – LATER THAT EVENING

Aarav walks into the kitchen where Mrs. Mehta is chopping vegetables. He
hesitates, unsure.

AARAV
Mumma… Simran ke haathon pe kuch nishaan the. Jaise cuts… aur Insta pe usne
ek reel daali thi… it was kinda dark. I’m worried.

Mrs. Mehta pauses. She turns to him calmly.

MRS. MEHTA
Tumne usse poocha?

AARAV
Usne tal diya. Par… I think kuch toh chal raha hai.

Mrs. Mehta sets the knife aside and nods firmly.

MRS. MEHTA
Thank you for telling me, beta. Chalo, main Simran se casually baat karti hoon.

EXT. BALCONY – SUNSET

Simran stands by the railing, gazing into the distance. Mrs. Mehta approaches with
two cups of juice.

MRS. MEHTA
Thoda break le lein? Maine socha thoda hawa le lein.

Simran takes the cup. She stays silent.

Mrs. Mehta speaks gently.

MRS. MEHTA
Simran beta… kabhi kabhi hum thak jaate hain. Bahar se sab normal dikhta hai,
par andar ka pressure kuch aur hota hai na?

Simran’s eyes well up. She keeps her gaze down.

SIMRAN
Kabhi kabhi lagta hai… sab kuch khatam kar doon. Par… fir darr lagta hai.

Mrs. Mehta places her hand gently over Simran’s.

MRS. MEHTA
Yeh jo tum feel karti ho—woh galat nahi hai. Par iska solution hai. Self-harm aur
aise thoughts serious hain, par unka ilaj bhi hai. Tum akele nahi ho, Simran.

Simran finally looks at her, eyes filled with emotion.

SIMRAN
Mujhe help chahiye, aunty.

TEXT ON SCREEN – SOFT MUSIC

Black screen. Soft instrumental music plays.

V.O. (CALM FEMALE VOICE)
Self-harm aur suicidal thoughts aksar chupke se dikhayi dete hain—lekin unka
matlab hota hai ki kisi ko madad ki zarurat hai.
Parents aur teachers ke liye zaroori hai ki woh in sanket ko samjhein, bina
judgement ke sunen, aur madad karein.
Zindagi ke mushkil mod par bhi, raasta hota hai.

ON SCREEN:
Warning signs matter. Speak, listen, support.
Don’t wait. Help is possible.
Call a mental health helpline or talk to a trained adult.
Chup rehna zaruri nahi hota. Chup rehna khatarnak ho sakta hai.

FADE OUT.
