STATISTICS FORMULA SHEET (WITH EASY & HARD

EXAMPLES)
Arithmetic Mean
Formula: Mean = Σx / N or Mean = Σfx / Σf
Easy Example: Data: 4,6,8,10 → Mean = (4+6+8+10)/4 = 7
Hard Example: x: 5,10,15,20 and f: 2,3,4,1 → Σfx = 120, Σf=10 → Mean=12

Median (Grouped)
Formula: Median = l + ((N/2 - cf)/f) * h
Easy Example: Median = 15 (from example: l=10, cf=6, f=8, h=10)
Hard Example: Median ≈ 20.83 (from example: median class 20–30)

Mode (Grouped)
Formula: Mode = l + ((f - f1)/(2f - f1 - f2)) * h
Easy Example: Mode ≈ 14.29 (modal class 10–20)
Hard Example: Mode = 34.5 (modal class 30–40)

Range
Formula: Range = Largest - Smallest
Easy Example: 9 (from data 2 to 11)
Hard Example: 120 (from 40–160)

Quartile Deviation
Formula: QD = (Q3 - Q1) / 2
Easy Example: QD = 4
Hard Example: QD ≈ 10.64 (grouped example)

Mean Deviation
Formula: MD = Σ|x - A| / N
Easy Example: MD = 1.33 (data: 3,5,7)
Hard Example: MD = 5.6 (data: 10,14,18,22,30)

Standard Deviation
Formula: σ = sqrt((Σd² / N) - (Σd/N)²)
Easy Example: σ ≈ 1.63 (data: 2,4,6)
Hard Example: σ ≈ 7.39 (grouped step-deviation)

Coefficient of Variation
Formula: CV = (σ / Mean) * 100
Easy Example: 25%
Hard Example: 25%

Percentile (Grouped)
Formula: Pk = l + ((kN/100 - cf)/f) * h
Easy Example: P50 = Median = 15
Hard Example: P75 = 57.5

Correlation (Karl Pearson)

Formula: r = Σxy / sqrt(Σx² * Σy²)
Easy Example: r = 1 (x=1,2,3 & y=2,4,6)
Hard Example: r ≈ 1 (x=2,4,6 & y=5,9,12)
