II. Reasoning out short notes: - (10 Marks)

1. Deficiency of G6PD and pyruvate kinase causes hemolytic anemia.

2. Polyol pathway is implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus.

3. LDL is called as ‘bad cholesterol’.

4. HDL is involved in the reverse cholesterol transport.


5. Von Gierke’s disease causes Lactic acidosis and Hypoglycemia but no splenomegaly and
muscle involvement. Reason out.

6. Deficiency of lung surfactant causes Respiratory distress syndrome.

7. Chronic alcohol presents with hypoglycemia and is always considered as source of empty
calorie. Reason out.
