■ In order to name angles, you must use the capital letters
set as points on the angle. The ORDER of these points
MATTERS!

Lines, Angles, and Transversals
Two lines in a plane that never intersect are called parallel lines.
A line that intersects two or more parallel lines in a plane is called a transversal.
Special notation is used to indicate parallel lines.
Read as line s is parallel to line t.

By the end of the lesson, we’ll be able to identify

Angles formed by a transversal
When a transversal intersects two parallel lines, eight angles are formed.
Four of the angles are interior angles, located in the space between the
parallel lines, and four are exterior angles that lie outside the parallel
lines.

Alternate interior angles are interior angles that lie
on opposite sides of the transversal. Their measures
are always equal.
