UNIT-I

2 MARKS

1. Name the different types of drawing instrument. How is pencils graded?


2. Construct a hexagon length of a side 30mm.
3. Divide a given line 125mm in 9 equal parts.
4. Construct a pentagon length of a side 30mm.
5. Inscribe a pentagon in a Circle of 50mm diameter.
6. Inscribe a regular octagon in given square of 50mm side.
7. Define Eccentricity and write the value for (a) Ellipse (b) Parabola and (c) Hyperbola.
8. Define Cycloidal curve. What is Epi-cycloid and Hypo-cycloid curve?
9. What is a Representative Fraction? Enlist types of Scales used in Engineering Practices.
10. Distinguish between a Full-Size, a Reduced-Size and an Enlarged-Sized in drawing.

5 MARKS

1. Construct an ellipse with distance of the focus from the directrix as 50mm and eccentricity as
2/3. Also draw normal and tangent to the curve at a point 40mm from the directrix.
2. Construct a parabola, with the distance of the focus from the directrix as 60mm, also draw
normal and tangent to the curve at a point 40mm from the directrix.
3. To construct a hyperbola with the distance between the focus and directrix as 50mm and
eccentricity as 3/2. Also draw a normal and tangent to the curve at a point 40 from the
directrix.
4. The vertex of a hyperbola is 60mm from its focus. Draw the curve, if the eccentricity is 3/2.
Draw a normal and a tangent at a point on the curve 75mm from the directrix.
5. Construct a rectangular hyperbola when a point P on it is at a distance of 18mm and 34mm
from two asymptotes. Also draw a tangent to the curve at a point 20mm from an asymptote.
6. A circle of 50mm diameter rolls on the circumference of another circle of 175mm diameter
and outside it. Trace the locus of a point on the circumference of the rolling circle for one
complete revolution. Name the curve. Draw the tangent and normal to the curve at a point
125mm from the centre of the directing circle.
7. Construct a hypo-cycloid rolling circle 60mm diameter and directing circle 180mm diameter.
Draw a tangent to it a point 60mmfrom from the centre of the directing circle.
8. Draw a hypo-cycloid when the radius of the directing circle is twice the radius of generating
circle and radius of the generating circle is 35mm.
9. Draw one turn of the involutes of a circle 50mm in diameter draw a tangent and normal to the
curve at a point 80mm from the centre of the circle.
10. Construct a scale of 1:5 to show decimeters and centimeters along enough to measure up to
1m. Show a distance of 6.3 dm on it.

UNIT-II

2 MARKS

1. Draw the projections of the Point P is 12mm above HP and 20mm in front of VP.
2. Draw the projections of the Point Q is 24mm below HP and 30mm behind VP.
3. Draw the projections of the Point R is in HP and 32mm behind VP.
4. Draw the projections of the Point S is 15mm below HP and 40mm in front of VP.
5. Draw the projections of the Point T is 35mm above HP and 10mm behind VP.
6. Draw the projections of the Point U is in HP and 32mm in front of VP.
7. Draw the projections of the Point V is in V.P and 40mm above the HP.
8. Draw the projections of the Point W is in VP and 40mm below HP.
9. Differentiate between first angle and third angle projections.
10. Two pegs fixed on a wall are 4.5 m apart. The distance between the pegs measured parallel to
the floor is 3.6 m. If one peg is 1.5m above the floor, find the height of the second peg and the
inclination of the line joining the two pegs, with the floor.

5 MARKS

1. A line CD measures 80mm is inclined at an angle of 30° to H.P and 45° to V.P. The point C is
20mm above H.P and 30mm in front of V.P. Draw the projections of the line.
2. The Midpoint of line is 80mm long is 25mm above HP and 30mm infront of VP .The line
inclined at an angle of 300 to HP and 400 to VP. Draw its projections. And also find the
inclination of the line with the HP and the VP.
3. The distance between the projectors of two points A and B is 70mm. Point A is 10mm above
HP and 15mm in front of VP. Point B is 50mm above HP and 40mm infront of VP. Find the
shortest distance between A and B. Measure true inclination of the line AB with HP and VP.
4. A line LM 70mm long has its end L 10mm above the H.P and 15mm in front of V.P. The top
and front views measures 60mm and 40mm respectively. Draw projections of the line. Find
its inclinations with H.P and V.P.
5. A line AB, 90 mm long is inclined at 450 to the HP and its top view makes an angle of 600
with XY. The end A is in the HP and 15 mm infront of VP. Draw its front and top views and
find its true inclination with VP.
6. (A)A regular pentagon of 25mm side has one side on the ground. Its plane is inclined to HP at
45° and perpendicular to VP. Draw its projections.
(B) Draw the projections of circle diameter of 5cm having its plane vertical and inclined at
300 to VP. Its centre is 3cm above HP and 2cm in front of VP.
7. A thin 300-600 set square has its longest edge in VP and inclined at 30 0 to HP. Its surface
makes an angle of 450 with VP. Draw its projections.
8. Draw the projections of regular pentagon of 40mm side having its surface inclined at 30 0 to
VP and the side on which it rests on VP makes an angle of 60 0 to HP.
9. A regular hexagon of 40mm side has a corner in the HP. Its surface is inclined at 450 to HP
and the top view of the diagonal through the corner which is in the HP makes an angle of60 0
with the VP. Draw its projections.
10. A square ABCD of 50mm side has its corner A in HP its diagonal AC is inclined at 30 0 to HP
and the diagonal BD is inclined at 450 to VP and parallel to HP. Draw its projections.

1. What are the classifications of the solids?


2. Differentiate between frustum of a pyramid and a truncated pyramid.
3. Draw the projections of cube of 40mm side, resting with one of its face on HP. Such that one
of its vertical faces is perpendicular to VP.
4. Draw the projections of a regular pentagonal prism side of base 30mm and axis 55mm resting
with its base on HP. Such that one of its rectangular faces is parallel to VP.
5. Draw the projections of a hexagonal prism side of base 25mm and height 50mm resting with
its base on HP. Such that one of its rectangular faces is perpendicular to VP.
6. Draw the projections of cylinder of base 40mm diameter, axis 50mm long, resting on ground
on its base.
7. Draw the projections of a right circular cone of base 40mm diameter and height 60mm when
resting with its base on HP.
8. Square pyramid 40mm side, axis 65mm long has base in VP one edge of base inclined to 30 0
to HP and corner contained by that edge is on HP. Draw its projections.
9. A rectangular prism side of base 40mm X 25mm and height 60mm rests with its base on HP.
Such that one of its larger rectangular faces is parallel to VP. Draw its projections.
10. A triangular prism, 40mm of the base and 60mm of length of axis has its axis perpendicular to
VP. Draw the projections if one of the rectangular faces parallel to the HP.

1. A cone of base diameter 60mm and axis 60mm long is resting on its base on the horizontal
plane. Its axis is inclined at 500 to the HP and parallel to VP. Draw its projections.
2. Draw the projections of a pentagonal prism, base 25mm side and axis 50mm long resting on
one of its rectangular faces on the HP with axis inclined at 45 o to the VP.
3. A hexagonal pyramid base 25mm side axis 50mm long has edge of its base on the ground. Its
axis is inclined at 30o to ground and parallel to VP. Draw its projections.
4. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 25mm and height of axis 60 mm is resting on HP on a
base corner with edge of base containing that corner making 300with HP. Projection of
pyramid when its axis perpendicular to VP and base is 15mm from VP.
5. Draw the projection of cylinder 60mm diameter and 90mm long. Axis inclined at 45 0 to HP
and parallel to VP.
6. Draw the projection of square pyramid having one of its triangular faces in the VP. And the
axis parallel and 40mm above the HP. Base 30mm side axis 75mm long.
7. Draw the projections of cube of 40mm side, resting with a face on HP such that one of its
vertical faces is inclined at 300 to VP.
8. A square pyramid side of base 30mm and height of axis 65mm rests with one if its edges of
its base on HP. Such that its base makes 300 to HP. Draw its projections.

1. A cone, diameter of base 45mm and axis 60mm is resting on its base on the HP. It is cut by a
section plane perpendicular to the VP and inclined at 800 to the HP. The section plane passes
through the apex. Draw the sectional top view and also obtain the true shape of the cut
section.
2. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 40 mm and axis length 75mm is resting on HP on its base
with one of its base side parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 35 0 to HP and
perpendicular to VP and bisecting the axis. Draw its front view, sectional top view and true
shape of the section.
3. A cylinder of 50mm diameter and axis 80mm long lies with one if its generators on HP such
that axis is inclined at 450 to VP. A section plane parallel to VP. Bisects the axis of the
cylinder. Draw the top and sectional front views.
4. A square pyramid od base side 30mm and axis length 60mm is resting on HP on its base with
one side of base inclined at 300 to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 450 to HP and
perpendicular to VP and passes through the axis at a distance 25mm from the apex. Draw its
front view, sectional top view and true shape of the section.
5. A square prism side of base 30mm and axis 60mm long, rests with its base on HP and one of
its rectangular faces is inclined at 300 to VP. A section plane perpendicular to VP and inclined
at 600 to HP cuts the axis of the prism at a point 20mm from its top end. Draw the sectional

by a plane perpendicular to the VP and inclined at 300 to the HP. The plane meets the axis at a
point 30 mm from the base. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the lower portion
of the truncated cylinder.

1. Draw the isometric projection of a triangular pyramid of side of base 35mm and height 75mm
when it is resting on H.P. such that an edge is parallel to V.P.
2. Draw the isometric projection of a rectangular prism of base 50mmX40mm and height 75mm,
when it rest with its base on H.P and one of its rectangular face is parallel to V.P.
3. Distinguish between isometric view and isometric projection.
4. What is an isometric scale?
5. Draw the isometric view of square of side 40 mm whose plane is vertical.
6. Draw the isometric view of square of side 40 mm whose plane is horizontal.
