What is Sitting
Volleyball?
• A form of volleyball for athletes with physical impairments.
• Players sit on the floor and play with a smaller court and
lower net.
• Both men and women play competitively worldwide.
History of Sitting
Volleyball
• Introduced in 1956 in the Netherlands.
• Became part of the Paralympic Games in 1980 (for men) and
2004 (for women).
• Now played in over 60 countries.
Basic Rules

• Teams have 6 players on each side.


• Players must keep contact with the floor when playing the
ball.
• Net height: 1.15 m for men, 1.05 m for women.
• Best of 5 sets – first to 25 points (win by 2).
Court and Equipment

• Court size: 10m x 6m (smaller than standing volleyball).


• Standard volleyball is used.
• Players wear knee pads for comfort and movement.
