Content Strategy Notes

1) Big Idea
Make edits/montages feel cinematic so viewers think, “I wish I had this life.” The goal is to
make people want to live what you’re showing—not just watch it.

2) References & Inspiration

● 100 Thieves “Project 50” look: Clean, cohesive color grading and appeal—use as a
vibe reference.

● Sam Sulek effect: Minimal editing, raw car talks, full workouts + posing. Simple +
consistent + authentic can start a trend.

3) Niche & Differentiation

● Figure out what makes you different. Carbon copies can work, but a spin on familiar
formats is what sticks.

● Avoid being a “2.0” of anyone (e.g., Alex Warren vs. David Dobrik). Copy structure if you
must—add your twist.

4) Relatable & Viral Formats (What’s worked for me)

● Quotes over real footage absolutely work.

○ Wickham Farms clip with a quote → 1.2M views. People thought I needed “girl
advice”; I adapted a reel, and it outperformed the source.

○ “Saved bro from getting molested yesterday” with a small “(self control)” tag →
~150k views. Funny + shareable = sent to friends.

● Relatable content is my most-viewed category—lean into it. Not everything needs to

be a max-effort pull-up montage (sorry, Joelle).
● PS: I’m #1 in my pull-up category, but relatability still wins.

5) Text & On-Screen Typography

● Text can make a video pop or ruin it.

● Don’t layer random fonts/effects. One wrong text choice = buns.

● Keep it clean, high-contrast, readable, and intentional.

6) Music Choice
● Match vibe: indie/sad/chill (e.g., “we fell in love in October”) for fall edits.

● Don’t slap Yeat over a relaxing clip (joking… kind of).

● Music should support the feeling, not fight it.

7) Posting Cadence & Algorithm Reality

● POST EVERY DAY.

● TikTok will “jail” you at ~200 views if you fall off (I live there).

● Not every post hits; when one does, the grind feels worth it.

8) Sponsorships (The Big Payday)

● Don’t take random sponsors—work with brands you actually like and use.

● Put products naturally in videos—even skits or quote reels—so brands notice.

● My lesson: I showed RAW Nutrition while close with RYSE, and it hurt that deal. Keep
brand appearances aligned with who you’re courting.

9) Skill Building (You Don’t Need a Fancy Editor)

● I learned Photoshop/editing by daily practice and replicating creators I admire.

● My buddy edits for the Houston Texans—proof that iterative reps matter.

10) Personal Angle Ideas (Use Your Life)

● I run marathons and play softball—share tips, routines, POVs.

● As I grow, share “orders” and routines (e.g., 7 Brew coffee setup).

● Give people something they can copy today.

11) Practical Systems (Low-Friction)

Weekly cadence

● Mon: Relatable bit + quote (30–45s)

● Tue: Training tip (15–30s)

● Wed: Cinematic mini-vlog (45–60s)

● Thu: Skit (20–40s)

● Fri: Product cameo + why you use it (20–30s)

● Sat: Long-run/marathon slice + takeaway (30–60s)

● Sun: Softball highlight + lesson (20–40s)

Shot list (paste in Notes)

Exterior → hands → face close-up → action wide → detail cutaway → payoff.

Hook formula
Problem → pattern interrupt → payoff promise (in 3 seconds).

Caption formula
1-line hook + 1-line context + CTA (“send this to your running buddy”).

12) Analytics (Simple but Ruthless)

● Track weekly: 0–3s hold, avg watch time, 3-sec hold rate, saves/shares, comments.

● Decide by data: Keep anything with top-30% retention or high saves. Kill/iterate the
rest.

13) Tooling (Still Don’t Need a Fancy Editor)

● Edit: CapCut / VN (mobile) or DaVinci Resolve (desktop).

● Color: Start with a soft-contrast LUT; tweak skin tones; save as preset.

● Text: Native CapCut fonts or a clean sans (bold weights).

● Asset bank: Keep a folder of your 10 best hooks, 10 music beds, 10 text styles.

14) Creative Guardrails (Do / Don’t)

Do

● Film in natural light; use a mic for talk-to-camera.

● Keep A-roll honest, not over-scripted.

● Show product naturally before you ever pitch it.

Don’t

● Over-layer text or use low-contrast palettes.

● Clash music/visual energy.

● Post a competitor’s product if you’re in talks with a brand.

15) 7-Day Sprint Plan (Start Tomorrow)

1. Define your onlyness statement + 4 pillars.

2. Build a 20-clip B-roll bank (home, gym, run, commute).

3. Create one LUT & one text style; save presets.

4. Draft 10 hooks; record 3 car-talk riffs (your spin).

5. Edit & post one cinematic mini-vlog.

6. Post a relatable quote video from the B-roll bank.

7. Review analytics; double down on the top performer.

16) Quick Reminders

● Post every day. Volume → skill → signal to the algo.

● Make people feel something. Aesthetic + relatability wins.

● Protect your brand lanes. Sponsorships should feel inevitable, not forced.

● Iterate fast. The feed is your focus group.

17) Personal Note

The goal is to find what works for you and what makes you happy in the end. Never sell short
if it doesn’t bring you joy. Maybe I wanted to run a mile and needed the details on what to do for
it (in your dreams, buddy—stair master kills me every day).

18) Final Mindset

● Post daily.

● Make people feel something (aesthetic + relatability).

● Small misses are normal; the hits repay the grind.
