Performance Task: Our Lives in the Information Age: A Collective Reflection

Chapter 7 – Science, Technology, and Society

Objective:
 To encourage students to reflect on their personal relationship with information
technology — how they receive, process, and share information in the digital age — and
to critically analyze its effects on their lives.

Instructions:

I. Group Composition:
 Work in your assigned group. Each member will create an individual written entry.
 All entries will be compiled in one folder (printed) as your group output.

II. Your Individual Entry Must Contain the Following Sections:

A. Personal Profile
 Full Name
 Course/Year/Block
 Short background (1 paragraph) describing yourself as a “digital individual” — e.g., your
relationship with technology, how often you use gadgets, etc.

B. My Information Platforms

 List and describe the main platforms you use to receive and relay information (examples:
Facebook, YouTube, Google, TikTok, news apps, online learning platforms, etc.).
 Explain why you use each one and what type of information you usually get or share
there.

C. Advantages and Disadvantages in My Life

 Reflect on how today’s information technologies help you in your studies,


communication, and daily living.
 Then, discuss what disadvantages or challenges you personally experience from them
(e.g., distractions, misinformation, overreliance, privacy issues, etc.).

D. My Realizations in the Information Age

 Share your personal insight about living in this era of instant information.
 What lessons have you learned about using technology responsibly?
 How has it shaped your way of thinking, learning, and connecting with others?

III. Format Guidelines:

 Font: Arial, size 11


 Spacing: 1.5
 Paper: Long coupon bond
 Output: Printed and fastened inside a long white folder
 Length: 1–2 pages per student (short but meaningful)
 Arrangement:
 Entries must be arranged in alphabetical order based on members’ names.
 Male students first, followed by female students.
