1. Parts of a Computer and How It Works
A computer is an electronic machine that takes input, processes it, and gives output. It has different
parts that work together:
1 Input Devices – help us give instructions to the computer. (Example: Keyboard, Mouse,
Scanner)
2 Output Devices – show us the result. (Example: Monitor, Printer, Speaker)
3 Storage Devices – store our data and files. (Example: Hard Disk, Pen Drive, CD)
4 CPU – the ‘brain’ of the computer. It has three parts: ALU (calculations), CU (controls), and
Memory Unit (stores temporary data).
5 Peripherals – extra devices connected to the computer like printers, webcams, microphones,
etc.

3. What is a Computer and How It Works with Operating System
A computer is an electronic device that works based on instructions given by the user. It cannot
work by itself; it needs an Operating System (OS). The OS acts as a bridge between the user and
the computer hardware. It helps us to:

3 Save and manage files
4 Connect hardware devices like printers, USB drives, etc.
