1.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the field of computer science that focuses on creating
machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.
Examples include speech recognition, image analysis, and decision-making. AI is
divided into two categories: • Narrow AI – designed for specific tasks (e.g.,
chatbots, recommendation systems) • General AI – aims to perform any intellectual
task that a human can do. Applications: Healthcare, Finance, Robotics, Education.
Challenges: Ethics, bias, and job displacement.
2. Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity involves protecting systems, networks, and data from digital attacks,
theft, and damage. It ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of
information. Key areas: • Network Security – protecting data during transmission •
Application Security – preventing vulnerabilities in software • Information Security –
safeguarding data from unauthorized access Common Threats: Malware, phishing,
ransomware, and DDoS attacks. Practices: Strong passwords, firewalls,
encryption, regular updates.
3. Cloud Computing
Cloud computing allows users to store, manage, and process data on remote
servers accessible via the Internet instead of local computers. Types of cloud
services: • IaaS – Infrastructure as a Service • PaaS – Platform as a Service •
SaaS – Software as a Service Advantages: Cost efficiency, scalability, flexibility.
Examples: Google Drive, AWS, Microsoft Azure.
4. Blockchain Technology
Blockchain is a decentralized digital ledger that records transactions securely and
transparently across multiple computers. Features: • Decentralization – no central
authority controls the data. • Transparency – all participants can view transactions.
• Security – data is encrypted and immutable. Applications: Cryptocurrency
(Bitcoin), supply chain tracking, digital contracts.
5. Internet of Things (IoT)
The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the interconnection of everyday devices to the
Internet, allowing them to collect and exchange data. Examples: Smart homes,
wearable devices, connected cars. Benefits: Convenience, automation, efficiency.
Challenges: Data security, privacy concerns, interoperability. IoT continues to
transform industries such as healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing.
