Chapter -10(circle)
Work sheet-1st

1. In the given figure quadrilateral ABCD is circumscribed touching the circle at pqr and S if ap
is equals to 6 cm and bp is equals to 5 cm cq = 3 cm and Dr is equals to 4 cm then, find

perimeter of quadrilateral ABCD .

2. The length of common chord of two intersecting circles is 30 cm. If the diameters of these
circles are 50 cm and 34cm then calculate the distance between their centres.
3. In the given figures PQ and QR are tangent to the circle centre O, at P and R respectively
,find the value of x.

4. In given figure O is centre of the circumcircle of ∆ ABC .Tangents at A and B intersect P.

Given angleAPB = 80° and angle AOC = 140°calculate the value of angleCAB.
5. In the given figure PA is a tangent to the circle with centre [Link] BC =3 cm and AC=4 cm and ∆

ACB ~∆PAO, then find OAand OP/AP.

6. In the given figure, two tangents TA and TQ are drawn to a circle with centre O from an
external point T. find the value of angle OPQ.
7. In the given figure PA and PB are tangent to be drawn from an external point P. CD is a third
tangent touching the circle at [Link] PB=10 cm and CQ= 2 cm then find the length of PC.

8. In the given figure AB is the diameter of a circle with centre O and QC is a tangent to the
circle at [Link] angleCAB=30° ,then find angleCQA and angleCBA.

9. Two tangent PA and PB are drawn to the circle with centre O ,such that angle APB = 120°
prove that OP=2 AP.
10. A circle is inscribed in a triangle ABC having sides 8 cm ,10 cm and 12 CM a shown in
figure ,find AD,BE and CF.
11. In a right triangle ABC, right angle at B,BC = 15 cm and AB=8cm.A circle is inscribed in
triangleABC,find the radius of circle.
12. If a,b,c are the sides of right triangle where c is the hypotenuse, prove that the radius r of the
circle which touches the sides of the triangle is given by
r= a + b - c/2.
13. If from an external point B of a circle with centreO,two tangents BC and BD are drawn such
that angle DBC = 120°prove that BC + BD =BO.
14. In the figure M and N are the centres of two semi circles having radii 9 cm and 16 cm
respectively .ST is the common tangent, find the length of PQ.

15. In the figure,RQSis a line parallel to the tangent to the circle at P.Q is the midpoint of radius
OP and if RS= 12 cm find the radius of the circle.
16. In the given figure PQ is a tangent from an external point P and QOR is a diameter. If
anglePOR=130°and S is a point on the circle, find angle1 + angle2

17. In the given figure PQ is tangent and PB is diameter, find the value of angles x and y.

Case base study questions

18. A Ferris wheel is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating upright wheel with multiple
passenger- carrying components or passenger cars attached to the rim in such a way that as
the wheel turns ,they are kept [Link] is a chord of the outer wheel which touches the inner
wheel at P. The radius of inner wheel is 8m and radius of outer wheel is 10m.

1. Find the length of chord AB of the outer circle.

2. The chord ABof the outer wheel is extended to a point [Link] BC= 9 m then find the distance of
the point C from the centre of the wheel.
3. A line is drawn from the point C to touch the outer wheel at the point D ,find the length CD.
19. Omkar prepared a project on rainwater [Link] representation of the
project is given in the figure. PQ,MN and PR are the pipes touching the circle Pit. ChordQR
substanded and angle 120° at the centre.
1. If OPis 20cm, then find the length of OQ.
2. If π=3.14 then find the area of circular pit.
3. If length of pipe MN is 6 CM then find the length of total pipes used in the project.
4. Find the degree measure of angle QPR.
20. Number of tangents on a Circle
The number of tangents drawn from point on a circle depend upon the position of the point
with respect to the circle. Suppose O is the centre of circle of radius 5 cm.T is a point such that
OT =13 cm and OT intersect the circle at E and AB is the tangent to the circle at E.
1. Find the length of the tangent at point T.
2. How many tangents can be drawn from point O?
3. How many tangents can be drawn from point T?
